How do I do mysql UNIONS with joomla 2.5:
$query = parent::getListQuery();
$query
->select('*')
->from('#__game_types')
->where('published = 1')
->order('price ASC')
->union('ALL')
->select('*')
->from('#__dates')
I know union is not a method but I was just trying to show what I'd like to do.
according to my knowledge it's not in the Joomla doc too. So what you can do is execute the query the other way like shown in the example below.
$query = "
SELECT *
FROM . . . ";
$db->setQuery($query);
$row = $db->loadObjectList();

I have a problem with my query and I need to join two tables from different databases now my problem is how can I execute my query. I got my syntax format from here
Please visit first this link so you could understand why my SQL syntax is like this http://www.x-developer.com/php-scripts/sql-connecting-multiple-databases-in-a-single-query
Im using CodeIgniter and here is an Idea of what my query looks like: Notice the way I'm selecting my columns: DATABASE_NAME.TABLE_NAME.COLUMN_NAME
$ENROLLEES = $this->load->database('ENROLLEES', TRUE);
$ACCOUNTS = $this->load->database('ACCOUNTS', TRUE);
$SELECT = "SELECT $ACCOUNTS.BALANCES_TABLE.IDNO, $ACCOUNTS.BALANCES_TABLE.balance";
$FROM = "FROM $ACCOUNTS.BALANCES_TABLE";
$WHERE = "$ACCOUNTS.BALANCES_TABLE.IDNO IN (SELECT $ENROLLEES.ENROLLEES_TABLE.IDNO FROM $ENROLLEES.ENROLLEES_TABLE)";
$SQL = $SELECT ." ". $FROM ." ". $WHERE;
MAIN PROBLEM: How to Execute my query?
If we do like this in codeIgniter:
$ENROLLEES->query($SQL); or $ACCOUNTS->query($SQL);
How can I execute my query that Im having multiple databases? What will I provide here[database]->query($SQL); ?
$sql="Select * from my_table where 1";
$query = $this->db->query($SQL);
return $query->result_array();
If the databases share server, have a login that has priveleges to both of the databases, and simply have a query run similiar to:
$query = $this->db->query("
SELECT t1.*, t2.id
FROM `database1`.`table1` AS t1, `database2`.`table2` AS t2
");
Otherwise I think you might have to run the 2 queries separately and fix the logic afterwards.
I can see what #Þaw mentioned :
$ENROLLEES = $this->load->database('ENROLLEES', TRUE);
$ACCOUNTS = $this->load->database('ACCOUNTS', TRUE);
CodeIgniter supports multiple databases. You need to keep both database reference in separate variable as you did above. So far you are right/correct.
Next you need to use them as below:
$ENROLLEES->query();
$ENROLLEES->result();
and
$ACCOUNTS->query();
$ACCOUNTS->result();
Instead of using
$this->db->query();
$this->db->result();
See this for reference:
http://ellislab.com/codeigniter/user-guide/database/connecting.html
http://www.bsourcecode.com/codeigniter/codeigniter-select-query/
$query = $this->db->query("select * from tbl_user");
OR
$query = $this->db->select("*");
$this->db->from('table_name');
$query=$this->db->get();
return $this->db->select('(CASE
enter code hereWHEN orderdetails.ProductID = 0 THEN dealmaster.deal_name
WHEN orderdetails.DealID = 0 THEN products.name
END) as product_name')
$this->db->select('id, name, price, author, category, language, ISBN, publish_date');
$this->db->from('tbl_books');
I am using this query in Fabrik (Joomla Application) to pull the data from database, which is not working.
The same query with mysql syntax is working fine in PHPMYADMIN.
$db = FabrikWorker::getDbo(false, 2);
$query = $db->getQuery(true);
$query
->select('hostel_fee')
->from('hostel_fee AS a')
->join('INNER','students AS b ON (b.class = a.class)');
$db->setQuery($query);
$a = $db->loadResult();
return $a;
use the full queries like this
$db = &JFactory::getDBO();
$query = "SELECT m.id, m.title,m.level,mt.menutype FROM #__menu AS m
INNER JOIN #__menu_types AS mt ON mt.menutype = m.menutype
WHERE mt.menutype = m.menutype AND m.published = '1' ORDER BY mt.menutype,m.level";
$db->setQuery($query);
$rows = $db->loadObjectList();
OR
$rows = $db->loadResult();
Instead of using this
$db = FabrikWorker::getDbo(false, 2);
Use this.
$db =& JFactory::getDBO();
Or if you want to use any external database to connect to your extension you can use this
Connecting to an external database
Allright, i see that without 1st line, the second query will not work. But I don't understand why. Why its not working without SET? What set does mean ?
$query = "update messages set $name=$name+1 where id='$idd'";
$db->setQuery( $query );
$db->query( $query ) or die('blogai');
$query2 = "select up,down from messages where id='$idd'";
$db->setQuery( $query2 );
$db->query( $query2 ) or die('blogai');
Check your sql request in your database query editor :
select up,down from messages where id='yourValue'
In zend it is written like
$table = $this->getTable();
$select = $table->select()->where('status = ?',1)
->where('columnOne= ?', 1)
->order('columnTwo')
->limit(1);
similar to where, order, limit conditions how can I condition for LIKE?
My query is
SHOW TABLE STATUS LIKE 'tableName'
I tried in this way
$table = $this->getTable();
$query= $table->select("TABLE STATUS")
->like($table);
$id = mysql_query($query);
then I found that no method for LIKE is available in ZEND.
Then How can I write above query in Zend framerk?
Thanks in advance.
This works for me, so hopefully it should give you what you want:
$stmt = $dbAdapter->query("SHOW TABLE STATUS LIKE '$tableName';");
$tableStatus = $stmt->fetchObject();
Is there a way to combine SQL with FQL.
I am talking about something like FQL multiqueries.
This is my sample code.
//Here I take data from a SQL database
$result_user_pages = mysql_query("SELECT Page_ID FROM user_fanpage WHERE User_ID='$uid'");
while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result_user_pages))
{
$user_page_ID[$m] = $row['Page_ID'] ;
$m++;
}
//Here I pass '$user_page_ID' array into a for loop and call facebook api
for ($i=0; $i
$query1 = "SELECT post_id FROM stream WHERE source_id='$user_page_ID[$i]'";
$query2 = "SELECT fromid,text from comment WHERE post_id IN (SELECT post_id FROM #query1)";
$queries = '{
"query1": "' . $query1 . '",
"query2": "' . $query2 . '"
}';
$attachment = array("method"=>"fql.multiquery","queries"=>$queries,'access_token'=>$access_token);
$ret_code = $facebook->api($attachment);
}
If '$user_page_ID' has 10 elements, api is called 10 times.Therefore sometime it gives me a connection time out error message.If there is a away to combine sql query with fql(like fql multiqueries), I can avoid this error message.
Can any one tell me whether there is a way to do this or any other solution...??
You cannot do that with the restrictions that are in place
