Symbol Usage Highlighting was added to MonoDevelop in version 2.4 and is described as follows:
When placing the cursor over a symbol, MonoDevelop will now
automatically highlight all usages of that symbol in the editor. The
keys control+shift+up/down can be user to jump between symbol
instances.
I can't seem to find how to change the colors associated with this new feature (I assumed that Options\Syntax Highlighting would hold the colors like it does for everything else, but I don't see the entry that's associated with S.U.H.).
I can't download a newer version of MonoDevelop as I'm using it with Unity and doing so will cause issues with the debugger.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Modify the foreground color of "Bracket marker"
Its not nice that the bracket highlight color is the same as variables, but it works.
I'm using version 2.8.2
Symbol usage highlighting seems to use the bracket marker's foreground color. It's the color argument in the entry:
<Style name="marker.bracket" color="#CB4915" bgColor="#67322C" />
At least when using MonoDevelop 3.0.1 it is.

Sometimes when I create a new snippet in Chrome devtools its icon has a green dot at the lower right. Sometimes the same thing happens when I edit a snippet. I haven't used snippets in a few months, and I remember there was something I did that made the dot go away, but I can't remember what it was.
What is the significance of the dot? What am I supposed to do when I see one? I looked at lot of web pages describing the use of snippets and even a few videos, and I found no mention of this dot in any of them. Furthermore, the new snippets the videos showed being created did not get a green dot on their icon.
The green dot means that file is linked to the source file within a workspace. It allows you to edit the file in the Dev Tools editor and the source file will be updated with those changes.

There are a lot of answered questions about how to disable resize (which I already did), but the new feature that Apple added, to expand the dialog (little green dot with arrows pointing up-right and down-left). This button is always enabled, despite various options that I tried, like

What is the correct style that I have to apply to the Shell constructor, in order to get the "expand" (or whatever this action is called) on MacOS 10.10 to be disabled?
Edit: this link helped me, I used the common code for Windows and Mac, and just as a note, the "Field" and the "Method" objects needs to be imported from java.lang.reflect package.
For a pop-up dialog
SWT.DIALOG_TRIM | SWT.APPLICATION_MODAL
(the default for a non-resizable Dialog) disables the green dot.
For the main application Shell I am not sure that you can control this with flags, although you may be able to use Mac specific code as mentioned in this question.
Does anyone know how to highlight the current file in the project navigator, or a hotkey to expand folders to the active file?
I have looked around and couldn't find anything that points to this as an option.

As of some 2017.x version (or maybe even 2016.x) the IDE has own dedicated Select in Project View action (so no need for additional plugin). You can find it in Keymap under the Other branch (hint: use search box to narrow the list).

Can be used if you do not mind (or even want) to have Project View panel keep focused on currently edited file (so it scrolls/moves up and down/expands when needed).
NOTE: with frequently switching between the files (e.g. CSS & HTML) when you have a lot of files in your project such "scrolling" may become quite annoying pretty fast (especially if such files are located in the invisible-right-now part of the project tree).
Activate Autoscroll from Source option in Project View panel (right click on tool window header bar/title or use menu under "gear" icon):
In modern versions (2020.3 and newer) that option was renamed and is now called Always Select Opened File:
Just click the circular icon (with tooltip Scroll from Source) to navigate in the project directory tree and highlight the corresponding active file in the PhpStorm editor.
On PhpStorm 2020.3 you have to click the cog icon in the project pane and select Always Select Opened Files:
The above answers are all valid but unfortunately you'll have to enable them for each project.
There's a plugin from Jetbrains that will enable this behaviour by default for all new projects.

I have a build system output in the console. However it is showing color code instead of the actual colorized text.

Unfortunately sublime doesn't support this. I ended up writing a plugin that parses the output and converts it into a colored version (for a subset of colors, ones we use in our testing framework).
If you would like to look into that, or if anyone stumbles upon this in future here are some tips..
I detect output in the plugin with an on_modified event listener and a view
with no name (view.name()). This does not uniquely identify the output pane
so you'll have to do a bit more than that, I found no other easy way (unless
you want to hook into your build plugin and act directly on the view it generates).
To make the color changes, I remove the color codes (view.erase()) and add color to the
regions marked by those codes with view.add_regions(). The colors I add are
ones I manually insert into a custom theme, as again there seems to be no
other way. Also, for some reason it seems you can't add a color with the
exact background of the active theme (it inverts it or something), so I set
the color's backgrounds to something just different.
As you can tell, it's a hacky, ad hoc solution, otherwise I would release it on Github.

I'm using IntelliJ to do Java Development for an application where we use JSF in a few places. In the .jsp file I have defined my backing class and the code runs properly.
My question is: How do I set up my environment so that when I center click on the method names, which use EL format, IntelliJ navigates to the proper method in the proper class.
Having taken a quick look at my IntelliJ install, if you go to File->Settings, there should be a keymap section under the IDE Settings header. Make a new keymap profile other than default. You can probably just copy the default and give it a new name. In the actions window, open Main Menu->Go To and there should be an action called "Implementation(s)". The description of this action seems to match what you are looking for. Click Add Mouse Shortcut, and center click in the click pad area to set it. I didn't want to actually change my settings, so I didn't finish the steps myself, but this should do what you are wanting to do. It may warn you that you are overwriting a shortcut to another action, so be aware of that.

This is a comment specific for intellij I guess. In this way when the owner variable is used anywhere like:
${owner.name}
is known to intellij that is of a Owner type. Intellij then automatically go to the class definition by pressing CTRL+B or middle mouse button.
This is working with intellij idea 9 beta and I remember that this feature was broken in 8.1.1. Prob it is working again in 8.1.x
Probably the same approch will also work for JSF.
