Take a look at this Talendforge post: http://www.talendforge.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=9389
You will need to install a driver.

I am trying to link an access database that is .accdb not .mdb . What do I need to do? where am I going wrong?
I have already tried to create it under the ODBC data source admin 32-bit (System DSN) tab. I selected the Driver - Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb) Data source name = Faunafile and selected the database which I have saved in my c drive. System database is None.
The in QGIs I click on "add vector". click database. in type I choose ESRI Personal GeoDatabase and under connections click New.
Type = ESRI Personal Geodatabase. Name is Faunafile and Database = Faunafile. Then when I try to test connect it comes up with an error message.
This is the error message I get:
Connection failed - Check settings and try again.
Extended error information:
Unable to initialize ODBC connection to DSN for Faunafile,
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application
Maybe you're using QGis 64-bits. Try to uninstall it and install QGis 32-bits. I had the same problem and now it works.
I have coded a program in VB.NET which is for making proposal and printing invoices. I can connect to my VPS MySQL (Mariadb) database via my software and everything works fine (ADD/UPDATE/DELETE strings). But I also need to gather data from my database to print invoices. For making this I am using Crystal Reports XI Release 2. I need to connect Crystal Reports to my online MySQL database which is located in my VPS to get data and make the invoice ready to print.
Connection options for Crystal Reports are :
Access/Excel (DAO)
ADO.NET(XML)
Database Files
Exchange 5.5 Message Tracking Log
Exchange Message Tracking Log
Legacy Exchange
Mailbox Admin
ODBC (RDO)
Olap
OLE DB (ADO)
Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider
Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database Engine
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Analysis Service
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Indexing Service
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Search
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Microsoft OLE DB Simple Provider
MSDataShape
OLE DB Provider for Microsoft Directory Service
SQL Server Native Client 11.0
Outlook/Exchange
Public Folder ACL
Public Folder Admin
Public Folder Replica
Universes
XML
I tried to connect to the VPS database in Crystal Reports with the following steps :
In Database expert menu I am selecting OLE DB (ADO) and then selecting Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server. Then it asks me Server, UserID, Password, Database. I am filling the fields but when I try to select database it shows nothing. When I leave the database field empty and click on next then it give me the following message:
Failed to open the connection.
Details: ADO Error Code:0x
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Description : [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect().]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
SQL State:08001
Native Error: [Database Vendor Code:17]
I've solved that issue with following steps (Assuming MySQL Connector/ODBC already installed in your system) :
Add a new connection from ODBC Data Source Administrator
Select MySQL ODBC 5.3 ANSI Driver
Select TCP/IP radio button and enter your VPS server's IP address
with port number 3306
Fill User and Password field with you database username and database
password
Select your database from the drop down list
Click Test button and if everything works fine than click Ok
Select database expert under Database menu
Select ODBC (RDO) under Create New Connection menu
Select your connection and click Next
Enter your database user name and password and click Finish
Add required tables from your database by selecting the table and
clicking arrow button.
If you already created a design then open your design in Crystal Report and follow these steps:
Select Set Datasource Location under Database menu
Select ODBC (RDO) under Create New Connection menu which is located
in "Replace With" section
Select your connection and click Next
Enter your database user name and password and click Finish
Now select one of your previous tables from "Current Datasource" tab
and select the same table in "Replace With" tab then click update. Do it for all tables one by one.
Click close.
Hope this helps.
I have to work of a client website made in ASP and that use MySql as DB.
The problem is that when I try to open the website I obtain the following MySql error message:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.0.92-enterprise-gpl-log]SELECT command denied to user 'Sql_myDBname'#'ip of the DB' for table 'normative'
/home.asp, line 14
I entered in the DB (from the administration pannel of the hosting) and trying to open any tables I always obtain the previous error message.
Why? What it means? Why the user can't access to tables? Could be a problem of my hosting provider?
Tnx
Andrea
I'm trying to get a classic ASP application to connect to a local SQL Server 2008 database. The app and database were built by someone else. I'm just trying to get them installed and running on my machine (Windows 7).
I'm getting the following error when when the ASP app tries to connect to the database:
Could not connect to database:
Error Number: -2147467259
Error Message: [ConnectionOpen (Connect()).] does not exist or access denied.
I don't see any messages in the Windows Event Viewer. I'm looking at: Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application.
It's a fresh database install using a simple restore. The SQL Server install uses the default instance. SQL Server and Windows authentication are both allowed. I left the existing connection string (in the ASP code) in tact and just tried adding that to my SQL Server installation. Here's the connection string:
strConn = "PROVIDER=SQLOLEDB;SERVER=localhost;UID=TheUser;PWD=ThePassword;DATABASE=TheDatabase;"
To add that user to SQL Server, I went to Security/Logins in SSMS and added the user and the password. I selected the database in question as the Default database. I thought that might do the trick, but it didn't. Then, I went into TheDatabase, then went into Security there. I added a new user there, referencing the new user I had already added in server Security. Under Owned Schemas, I clicked db_owner and under Role Members I checked db_accessadmin and db_owner. None of this gave the ASP application access to the database. The sid values match in sys.database_principals and sys.server_principals for the login in question. I am able to login to SSMS using this login.
The app needs to execute selects against the database like this:
oConn.Execute('select * from someTable')
I'm not a DBA and am sort of grasping at straws here. How do I get this thing connected?
Thanks,
Jay
It occurred to me that SQL Server or the website in IIS might be running as users with the wrong permissions. Based on what I read, it's okay for SQL Server to be running as Local System, so I left that alone.
In IIS, my website was using "Application user (pass-through authentication)". This is set in the Basic Settings->Connect As ("Edit Site" dialog box). When I clicked "Test Settings...", next to Authorization it said "Cannot verify access to path (c:\mywebsitepath)." I increased access permissions on that directory, but that didn't help. In the "Connect As" dialog box, I then changed "Path credentials" to use "Specific user" instead of "Application user (pass-through authentication)". I set it to use the user that I log in to my machine as. After that, when I click the "Test Settings..." button, next to "Authorization" it says "Path is accessible (c:\mywebsitepath)." After that, the ASP website is able to connect to SQL Server just fine.
Since the connection string was using a specific SQL Server username and password, I'm not exactly sure why this fixed the problem, but it seems to have.
I just installed SQL Server 2012 to test differences and make sure it is ok for my Work. I may not be a pro at SQL, but I don't see how to add a Link to Jet database on my server. I have imported Jet Databases, but when going thru the GUI to Link a JET Database I see no Provider for JET. I am running Access 2003 (I don't like the 2008+ GUI)
I searched an found nothing simular to my issue; at least nothing I understood. Nothing mentioned how to add Jet db Provider.
I ran a connection string to the Jet Database thru QA:
sp_addlinkedserver 'USGEScrub', 'Access', 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0',
'D:\Lead$\SupList\USGEScrub.mdb'
The connection string works till I try to access the data and then I get this the errorand of course if I click the links nothing shows up:

I had a similar problem and in my case it turned out to be related to the permissions on the %TEMP% folder for the account under which the SQL Server service was running. For more details see my answer here.
Sometimes this problems occurs in computers x64 with office x84 versions installed. Try this:
Install pasive OleDb Driver x64
