Where in clojurescript is the .strobj function defined?
I have tried
ack -a "strobj"
on the whole project, but no function definition returned.

strobj is not a function but a field of ObjMap instances. You shouldn't use it directly.

I am new on the QT world. And I am confused to where to put my small bool function:

and I want to call it from `void Widget::update_window()

I found an answer which is worked for me from sorting a vector of classes based on a variable in the class
worked like a charm without defining any function or class.

Is it not possible to get the arguments array from a static method?

I'm trying to get the reserved keyword arguments array from inside a static method and I'm getting this error:
1042: The this keyword can not be used in static methods. It can only
be used in instance methods, function closures, and global code.
Here is my code:
public static function doSomething(message:String, ...Arguments):void {
var object:Object = this.arguments.caller;
}
If I take the this keyword out then I get the following error:
1120: Access of undefined property arguments.
this is reserved to reference the current instance of a class which unfortunately doesn't exist inside a static function (since static function is not tied to an instance).
You could try using the new rest keyword if you want to pass in an unknown number of arguments:
ActionScript 3.0 includes a new ...(rest) keyword that is recommended instead of the arguments class.
However if you want it just to get the caller function:
Unlike previous versions of ActionScript, ActionScript 3.0 has no arguments.caller property. To get a reference to the function that called the current function, you must pass a reference to that function as an argument. An example of this technique can be found in the example for arguments.callee.

You could get the arguments of a static method. From the documentation:
Within a function's body, you can access its arguments object by using the local arguments variable.
You do not need the this keyword, this references to the Class instance instead to the function itself:
public static function doSomething():void {
return arguments;
}
Next you can access to the arguments calling the static method:
var arguments:Object = MyClass.doSomething();
trace( arguments.callee );
But remember, like #MartinKonecny said, in AS3 is better use the ...rest keyword or pass a function reference as an argument.
The arguments object is available in static functions but is not available when using the ...rest parameter.
Use of this parameter makes the arguments object unavailable. Although
the ... (rest) parameter gives you the same functionality as the
arguments array and arguments.length property, it does not provide
functionality similar to that provided by arguments.callee. Make sure
you do not need to use arguments.callee before using the ... (rest)
parameter.
Take out the ...rest parameter and the arguments object appears.
Also, the this keyword is not always necessary.
method.apply(this, args);
may throw an error in a static function but the parameter is optional so this also works:
method.apply(null, args);

Where would noop be used in Ceylon

I am playing around with this beautiful language and saw a function called noop.
As the documentation says it's a void function that does nothing!!
So why would I use a function that does nothing? Is it for adding "Nop" in assembly (for pipeline etc) but then this would be too low-level wouldn't it?
noop() can take the place of any void (or Anything returning) function. So it's useful to use as a value if you are calling a function or creating an object that requires you to pass in an event handler or callback function, but you aren't interested in responding to the event.
noop() is also useful as the default value of an an optional parameter of a function, for example:
void foo(void bar(Integer i) => noop(i)) {}
Or:
void foo(Anything(Integer) bar = noop) {}

AS3: Is it possible to give a vector function argument a default value?

I have a function where I'd like to make a vector argument optional-- that is, something like this:
public function test(arg1:int, arg2:Vector.<int> = new Vector.<int>(5)) {}
So in that example, I want the first argument to be required, and an optional vector passed in. If the second argument is not provided, create an int vector with 5 elements instead. It throws a compile error: "Parameter initializer unknown or is not a compile-time constant."
Making the argument not optional works, as in:
public function test(arg1:int, arg2:Vector.<int>) {}
But that's not exactly what I'm looking for. Doing some searching I found a supposed workaround, which is
public function test(arg1:int, arg2:Vector.<int> = null) {}
But that doesn't compile either.
I've already moved on in my code with a workaround just to be done with it, but I'm still curious. Can you have a vector as a default argument, and how?
I don't think this is possible. Probably just because the compiler was never programmed to handle this situation because optional parameters do work with many other datatypes in AS3. I did some research and other have reported the same issue as you with no success in setting an empty vector object in the function declaration.
I would simply do the following if you haven't already:
var myDefaultVector:Vector.<int> = new Vector.<int>(5);
function test(arg1:int, arg2:Vector.<int> = null) {
if( arg2 == null ) {
arg2 = myDefaultVector;
}
// rest of your code
}
I have tried compiling the above code in Flash and it compiled successfully.

AS3 Access the methods of a dynamically created movieclip

How do I access the methods of a dynamically created movieclip/object?
For simplicity sake I didn't post code on how I dynamically created the movieclip. Instead, assume its already created. It is an object. It is called field_2. Below it is referenced by using getChildByName('field_' + field.id);

I think you will have the result you are waiting for.
Actually, when doing "temp.testReturn", you are not calling the function. You need to add the parenthesis to make the actual call.
When you make a trace of temp.testReturn, the function is not executed: the trace function tell you the type of temp.testReturn, which is here correctly returned as a "function" type.
There is a difference between a function reference and a function call. Parenthesis '()' are an operator sign of ActionScript. They tell the compiler "please try to make a call to what was just behind us". Or at least I hope they are that polite.
A function in ActionScript is an object, like all other stuff. A member of Function class. You can pass it's reference back and forth, you can even call it's methods like call() or apply().
If you want a call, and not a reference, you have to use call operator.
trace(temp.testReturn());
