Shifting of entire body - html

I'm sure some of you have seen it before, but it happened twice to me before and just now another time. Sometimes when I navigate on my site, the entire body shifts like 2 or 3 pixels to the left or the right. Although the CSS and code isn't changing...
Has anyone an idea where this behavior comes from? Or how to solve this? (I can't paste code, since it's a very large and complex website, and pasting this mass here would bother most of you guys :)

Bet it's the scrollbar either being there or not.
To get round that, force it always to show one by adding overflow-y:scroll; to your html tag.
(Edit: my brain broke)

this usually occurs when the body height is less then the window height. so you can do it by adding overflow:scroll; in css

CSS: Scrollbar pushes my site-header, but not my css-inner, and it results in uneven widths

Just click any post to see what I mean, here's
I want to either:
1.make whole site pushable by scrollbar, so header and body have even widths
or
2.make whole site not pushable by scrollbar.
How can I do that? Maybe its because my header is 100% of width, while my body is fixed value (i think it is, dont remember).
Any help appreciated, ive been working on this website css for 2 weeks and my brain already wanted to give up
thanks #TheFrozenOne yeah that was it. i thought i added padding on post pages as well (and i did) but i added it to wrong div.
I fixed it already.
PS, sorry for not providing code.

Grouping together everything in a site to make it not shrink

i have completed the basic template for my site. Although i have one problem. When you make the browser to small everything starts to scrunch together. The pictures get smaller and smaller until you cant see them anymore. The text starts to all go into one line. I am not sure why this is happening. My guess is that by changing the position it should work, so that is what i did. When i did change the positioning everything on my site went crazy. Is there anyway to group everything in a site and make it all static together? I am stuck at this point so any advice would be great. Basically i would like to know how to group together my site at the center while keeping the whole thing together.
I would assume that giving you a link to my site would be more effective than a fiddle.
mytesttestwebsite.com
But here is a jsfiddleanyways
http://jsfiddle.net/4yeb5x6g/
This is the code to one of the images that shrink when you make the site smaller.
.image10 {
z-index: 5;
margin-top: 738px;
margin-left: 478px;
position: absolute;
}
I would personally not start messing with the z-index property.
From the small css code you put here isn't enough to gauge the problem. I would suggest that you enclose everything into a div with a set width
<<'div id='container' style='width:800px'>>
place website in this space
'<<'/div>>'
sorry ignore the ' i don't know how to display code yet!
Good luck,
Boom!
Based on what you said, I feel that it is safe to assume you have used things like width="50%" or height="100%" or whatever.
Make sure you are using set heights, such as width="87px" or height="168px"
I have just looked at your code and yes, you need to define a wide for the entire site, so as I said before. You must put everything in a div tag and specify a width for it in CSS or the html

Unwanted white space at the bottom of the page - Can't find an answer?

I am kind of new to stackoverflow, but I came here for help... I have a really stupid question: I have an unwanted white space at the bottom of the page, this has been bothering me for days and I can't seem to fix it...
The website is:

Thank you!
I only see white space in a maximized window. If that's what you want to get rid of, you're going to need to scale your content (which might look ugly) or space it out vertically. Either way, I think it looks fine.
If your white space issue is browser specific, try adding at the beginning of your CSS *{padding:0;margin:0;} and seeing if that fixes things.
And on a personal note, move away from Byet. They sound good to someone who's learning but aren't really as good as they seem. I've had my best luck with ServersFree.com.
EDIT: It's just your window. If it really bothers you and you want some framing, go ahead and give your page a center column:
body{
width:1000px;
margin:auto auto;
}

2 Column website layout with full background slideshow or video

I'm doing a website that needs to have layout such as the one here:
http://newsmartwave.net/wordpress/trego/home/homepage-1/#featured_products
I've spent 2 days researching how to do proper 2 column layout and tried different options, but none seem to work just right.
Right now I have 2 versions - http://aspenwebsites.com/mpwebsite/index.html and http://aspenwebsites.com/mpwebsite/index_alt.html
The problem with the first one is that if you reduce the height of the browser's window considerably I end up with some white space bellow the sidebar and some of my text ends up outside the border (see screenshot).
The problem with eh second one is that I don't can't place a full-screen background image behind both columns.
In addition, unlike on the sample website ( http://aspenwebsites.com/mpwebsite/index.html and http://aspenwebsites.com/mpwebsite/index_alt.html) that I'm trying to duplicate, I'd like to have a vertical scroll bar appear if browser's window reaches certain minimum height.
I know people sometimes get annoyed with types of questions, but I really just can't figure this out and I did read numerous articles and examples.
I'm not asking to write code for me, although any code samples would be most appreciated. Minimally, I was hoping for directions for some good tutorial, as I really would like to master this layout. It comes up a lot in my work and I'd like to have my own code that I have 100% understanding of rather than using Wordpress.
For the 1st one, add overflow: scroll; to the #sidebar > .row rule.
You do have a fullscreen background image in the second one. It's just that #maincontent, which is in front of it, has a background:white; rule, so you can't see it.
Edit: I did not get annoyed by the way..

cross browser css (100% height)

I'm creating a website and have a problem with the way it displays in different browsers. I'm testing using Chrome, iOS and IE8. The site displays correctly in the first two, but not so in IE.
The website in question is http://www.edalemill.co.uk/
Can anyone help point out what's wrong with my CSS to solve the problem?
Thanks!
I have taken a look and can replicate the issue.
I would suggest removing the
overflow:auto; from the #stripper
You have also used body more then once as well in your CSS, I would suggest having only one lot and tidying up your code.
Possibly consider using this as a base which should help you:

UPDATE
Otherwise for your code do the following for the CSS
#sidebar {
position:fixed;
}
I would recommend making that IE8 code only though
If you take out the height:100% on #container the background image fills up the rest of the text area for the about page.
Let me know if this helped.
Update
It might just be easier to have another CSS tag for the content areas that scroll. The height:100% works on those content areas that don't scroll, however, they break on those that do. My recommendation, even though it might not be the best way, is to either make a second CSS tag for the content areas that scroll, or just simply make the image bigger.
