I am currently running Pphpmyadmin 3.3.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 with Mysql 5.1.41 and I want to create an Innodb table. However, I can't find the option in Phpmyadmin and using "engine=innodb" in a "Create Table"-query results in the creation of a Mylsam table.
After looking up the problem on google, I found several posts saying that I need to search for "skip innodb" in my config file and remove it, but I could not find it anywhere.
I use the default config for Mysql and Phpmyadmin.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I've ran into a problem with my computer, so I needed to format it and fully re-install all my OS (Linux Mint 20.3). This wasn't a problem, since I need to re-import all my databases from a previously created .sql dump that I've created before starting the process of cleaning my computer.
I've used phpMyAdmin to create a full dump of my MySQL server. But, after fully reinstalling my OS, softwares and MySQL Server (version 8.0.27), I can't re-import my .sql dump.
Tried using CLI mysql command ( mysql -u raphael < localhost.sql ) and directly from phpMyAdmin web interface, but I'm always receiving the following error:
ERROR 2013 (HY000) at line 17476: Lost connection to MySQL server during query
This dump has some Wordpress databases, and the content at line 17476 is that:
ALTER TABLE `wp_posts`
ADD PRIMARY KEY (`ID`),
ADD KEY `post_name` (`post_name`(191)),
ADD KEY `type_status_date` (`post_type`,`post_status`,`post_date`,`ID`),
ADD KEY `post_parent` (`post_parent`),
ADD KEY `post_author` (`post_author`);
It's a very large file (aprox. 2.116.647 lines) and it's crucial to me to restablish all databases, because most of them are related to my work.
I've already tried to edit the /etc/mysql/my.cnf file, adding the following content:
[mysqld]
max_allowed_packet = 512M
connect_timeout = 600
But the problem still persists.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks!
I've tried a lot of things, and finally (I think) figured out WHY and HOW to fix this.
I've found somewhere in the internet someone that said "after upgrading from MySQL Server 5.7 to 8.0, phpMyAdmin is corrupting my dumps"... In my case, I've already using MySQL Server 8, but this made me think about...
So, I tried to create a VirtualBox VM with any Linux distro (I've used Ubuntu Server, but doesn't matter), installed MySQL 5.7 (downloaded from here) and tried to restore my .sql file. I'm surprised that worked fine. After that, I've used the CLI mysqldump to re-create all my localhost dump (from VirtualMachine), and imported the resulting .sql file inside my working machine, and all worked fine.
So, phpMyAdmin was the problem, even using the latest version downloaded directly from official website. There's something in phpMyAdmin (maybe a configuration that I don't know about, or a bug, or something else) that causes dumps from MySQL 8 to be corrupted, wrong file formatting, or maybe the moon isn't aligned with Jupiter and Venus... Is the first time this happens to me.
Thank you for all support, comments and ideas. I really don't know if this solution was the best (or the correct), but it was the only thing that worked for me. Maybe other people can take benefits with this solution.
I'm moving from MySql to MariaDB and I have several databases using federated tables. Everything works fine in the MariaDB but when the server restarts, all federated tables stop working as if the remote server's entry doesn't exists on the local MariaDB server.
After every restart the servers' entries remain in the servers table in the mysql db. If I try to add them again with the CREATE SERVER command, I get an error as if they exist. If I try to drop them with DROP SERVER, I get an error as if they don't exist.
The only way to make it work again is to manually remove the entries from the server table with DELETE FROM servers and create them again with the command CREATE SERVER. How can I make those configurations persistent?
I've searched extensible and couldn't find any solution or mention about this issue. The tables work fine in MySql. The logs doesn't mention anything related to the FederatedX engine between restarts. I'm using MariaDB 10.3.18 on CentOS 7.
I just found that this issue only occurs if the servers table is using the InnoDB engine. Changing it to MyISAM or Aria solves the problem.
For some reason my server was installed with the wrong engine for this table.
Edit: bug report here.
I am running Mac OS 10.10.2. I have recently been educating myself about php and SQL in order to create an online database application for my employer. However, I have been unable to load up my MySQL databases in phpMyAdmin. I have tried following some advice from this forum, but no answers seem to solve my issue.
I installed MySQLWorkbench (Ver. 6.2.4.12437) as well as XAMPP (Ver. 5.6.3-0), and was using phpMyAdmin to have a play around and better understand what I was getting myself into. I then found one of those follow-the-bouncing-ball type teaching websites which advised me to download and install the MySQL community server (Currently running Ver. 5.6.23)
As instructed, I was learning SQL commands through Terminal and built up some databases/tables this way. I decided I wanted to jump into phpMyAdmin where I felt it'd be easier to continue my work. At first XAMPP was unable to turn on the servers which I overcame by uninstalling and reinstalling. Then I was getting a #2002 error when trying to access phpMyAdmin. I tinkered with config files and put in details relating to my localhost MySQL server (Or at least I assume as much).
I was able to get back into phpMyAdmin finally, but my databases made through terminal are not there.
phpMyAdmin shows: cdcol (the example database), information_schema, mysql, performance_schema, phpmyadmin, and test.
If I open terminal and punch in 'mysql' then 'SHOW DATABASES;' it only lists: information_schema.
If I open terminal and punch in 'mysql' with username 'root' and my password, then 'SHOW DATABASES;' it lists: information_schema, mysql, performance_schema, my tutorial/learning database, and my business database. I dropped the test database from here. THESE are what I want to bring up in phpMyAdmin.
I can only guess that I haven't got it configured properly to access this last mysql server, but I can't determine where I am going wrong. If anyone can shed some light on this, that'd be greatly appreciated.
It appears as if you have two MySQL instances; one from the XAMPP and also the MySQL Community Server that you installed yourself.
The "M" of XAMPP is for MySQL, so yes usually it runs its own MySQL server instance. That's sort of the point of the packaged kit, so you don't have to worry about having any of your own applications installed. In theory it should be no problem to stop the XAMPP MySQL instance and instead use your other one, but may require tweaking some configuration files and is probably not supported. If you can make it work, I don't see a reason why it would be a problem, though.
My suggestion is to either use the complete XAMPP stack or roll your own installation rather than mix and match.
I did an upgrade of Xampp to version 1.8.3-1
In phpMyAdmin, I can see my databases and the tables in them on the list on the left side.
But if I click any of my tables, I get and error #1146 table doesn't exist.
It is probably some kind of user access issue. But I haven't changed anything. I'm logging as root/no pw on mysql.
any idea?
thanks,
Benoit
If you changed the version of XAMPP you also chnaged the version of MySQL.
A straight copy of databases will probably not work.
You either need to backup under the old version and restore into the new version or use the mysql_upgrade processor.
Look up usage of mysql upgrade here mysql doc
You will need to find the page relating to the from-version and to-version of MySQL. It may even be required to go via a number of other versions of MySQL. So the backup and restore option os a lot easier.
Simple upgradation wont help, Following two steps will help you out:
Before upgrade , Go to the directory xampp/mysql/data ( or whatever is relevant to your OS) , and copy all the files starting with word ib, like ib_logfil0 etc. and paste to the upgraded version after upgrade.
Go to mysql command line, and run this command:
mysql_upgrade
I am running WHM 11.32.2 and upgraded MySQL to 5.5 via the official production ready upgrade from WHM.
However, for some reason, I cannot create any InnoDB tables? They keep being created as MyISAM. Also, under phpMyAdmin, InnoDB does not even show up as a option from the drop down menu.
What is going on?
open etc/my.cnf
search fot "skip-innodb." comment it out.
restart mysql service.
