What is best OpenSource OCR software out there for Mac or from a website (I guess Perl and Ruby are probably okay as well) for extracting numbers out of a JPG in the following format:
http://www.whnt.com/extras/whnt/weather/7day_640.jpg
It would be best if no gui were required and it could be run from the command line.
Thanks for any information and feedback.

Tesseract. People have been able to compile and get it to run on OS X.

Does anybody know where to download CEF3 windows x64 bit binaries with h.264 support?
I want to use it in my project with CefSharp.
I know there is guide how to build it yourself, but it is too much GBs to download.
Thank you

Need to call some OCR function to extract characters from images. Wondering if anyone have good recommendations? Not necessarily to be open source and free.
thanks in advance,
Lin
When it come to OCR(optical character recognition) Tesseract is consider a better choice.

There is another library called microblink ocr. Code is available for ios, android and phone gap. Its accuracy is very good.

I have used GOCR a while ago, it's a command line tool, you can integrate it in your script if you are working server-side. I was satisfied with the result, it did a great job.

I develop a small S1000D project (~100 data modules) with BREX module.
For storage my documents I use file system instead expensive CSDB.
I need some tool or code example to validate my documents.
If you use S1000D 4.0 or 4.1 issues, you can try free tool: S1000D Checker.
I don't know any projects with source code.

I've exported all the old orders out of our old store into a mySQL DB.
Anyone know of a simple project or web based app that will let you search all fields with a wildcard?
So if I type in sha automatically any results with those letters would popup.
This would be similar to dbman but with mysql and some ajax. And preferably free and open source.
If you can use a "fat" client you can download the MySQL GUI tools from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html
Also look at http://www.mysqlajaxtableeditor.com/
PHPMyAdmin seems to be the most popular my man.
