SSIS FileSystem Task - ssis

I have a filesystem task I would like to move a file from 1 folder to another.
I pick up via SQL task a couple of fields to be put into variables.
I have a SourceUri, for example: http://input.mozilla.com/data/opinions.tsv.bz2
and I Have a desitination: C:\Downloaded
during another SSIS package the file is downloaded to this location
I would like to move the file from: C:\Downloaded\opinions.tsv.bz2 to C:\Archived\opinions.tsv.bz2
I can't seem to customize the task enough where I can give it the variable "http://input.mozilla.com/data/opinions.tsv.bz2" and trim it down to "opinions.tsv.bz2" and build "C:\Downloaded\opinions.tsv.bz2" and then move that to "C:\Archived\"
any help would be greatly appriciated

In that regard, using a Execute Script task is helpful as you can write C# code and make use of .NET System.IO libraries and string manipulation commands to accomplish your requirement.

How to do File System Task in SSIS depending on Result of Data Flow

I'm writing a (what I thought to be a) simple SSIS package to import data from a CSV file into a SQL table.
On the Control Flow task I have a Data Flow Task. In that Data Flow Task I have
a Flat File Source "step",
followed by a Data Conversion "step",
followed by a OLE DB destination "step".
What I want to do is to move the source CSV file to a "Completed" folder or to a "Failed" folder based on the results of the Data Flow Task.
I see that I can't add a File System step inside the Data Flow Task, but I have to do it in the Control Flow tab.
My question is how do I do a simple thing like assign a value to a variable (I saw how to create variable and assign them a value at the bottom pane of Data Tools (2012)) depending of if the "step" succeeds or fails?
Thanks!
(You can tell by my question that I'm an SSIS rookie - and don't assume I can write a C# script, please)
I have used VB or C# scripts to accomplish this myself. Since you do not want to use scripts I would recommend using a different path for the project to flow. Have your success path lead to moving the file to completed and failure path lead to moving the file to failed. This keeps it simple and accomplishes what you are looking for.

read input from html forms, execute local program, output results

I have a question that will help me understand how stuff works and investigate feasibility of a bigger plan I have in mind.
Simply given - lets assume that all things run locally - I am wondering if it is possible to:
create an html page with a form that will prompt the user to enter
the local path of an input file inputFile.dat
this input file will be fed to a c++ exe program that expects it for input
the c++ exe file will run (this exe file depends on libraries etc but lets assume all are local here)
... and will output the result on screen
It sounds simple, but is it?
Many thanks folks!
Yes, this is definitely possible, if you want to use PHP or some other scripting language.
Create a form on your web page
Add the directory of the program
Add the directory of the data
When submitted, use the PHP (or other language) exec function (docs) to execute the program, with the supplied data as argument
The exec function returns output from the program.
Display the output as wished on your page.
Good luck!

The connection "C:\\<path>\\*.txt" is not found. This error is thrown by Connections collection when the specific conn element is not found

I developed a SSIS package that creates several .txt files. These files are zipped and then the .txt files need to be removed. Using a foreach file enumerator, I loop through all the .txt files for a specific folder. The folder is retrieved from a variable in configuration and looks something like: C:\Folder\
The foreach loop uses: *.txt to gather all .txt files, does not traverse subfolder and uses the full qualified name.
In the Variable Mappings the "FileName" variable gets filled with the 0 index.
Within the foreachloop I use a File system task.
This task removes the .txt files which are generated before, using the FileName variable that is filled in the loop.
On the development machine this runs like a charm. All greens, no problem at all. Now I copy the package and the configuration file to the test environment. A basic version without the file removing was running perfectly fine here. I replaced the package. Nothing big.
Now I run the SQl Server Agent Job and it starts running. I can see all the text files appearing, and disappearing after it created the zipfiles. However, when all files are removed the package results with errors. Namely the error shown above in the title.
I tried looking for the connectionmanager that might have been removed
Looked for connection managers named in the config that don't exist in the package.
No such thing found. Annoying part is that the package is fully functioning, but still results with the error.
EDIT: I noticed that if I run the package using the execute package utility with the dev. config it gives the same errors.
Hopefully someone is able to help me out.
Thanks in advance!
I managed to "fix" the issue. Remove the File System Component responsible for deleting the files. Then add it again and configure it again.
I think this happens if you accidentally change General parameters before changing the Operation parameter. It holds the metadata to irrelevant parameters and upon execution says: "Wait, you defined this parameter but I don't need it, but I'm checking for it anyway, and it's not there!"
It's a bug for sure

Zip the contents of a folder in SSIS

I am trying to zip the contents of a Folder in SSIS, there are files and folders in the source folder and I need to zip them all individually. I can get the files to zip fine my problem is the folders.
I have to use 7.zip to create the zipped packages.
Can anyone point me to a good tutorial. I haven't been able to implement any of the samples that I have found.
Thanks
This is how I have configured it.
Its easy to configure but the trick is in constructing the Arguments. Though you see the Arguments as static in the screenshot, its actually coming from a variable and that variable is set in the Arguments expression of Execute Process Task.
I presume you will have this Execute Process task in a For Each File Ennumerator with Traverse SubFolders checked.
Once you have this basic setup in place, all you need to do is work on building the arguments to do the zipping, how you want them. A good place to find all the command line arguments is here.
Finally, the only issue I ran into was not providing a working directory in the command line arguments for 7zip. The package used to run fine on my dev environment but used to fail when running on the server via a SQL job. This was because 7zip didn't have access to the 'Temp' folder on the SQL Server, which it uses by default as the 'working directory'. I got round this problem by specifying the 'working directory as follows at the end of the command line arguments, using the -ws switch:
For e.g:
a -t7z DestinationFile.7z SourceFile -wS:YourTempDirectoryToWhichTheSQLAgentHasRights

How to set an environment variable programmatically in Jenkins/Hudson?

I have two scripts in the pre-build step in a Jenkins job, the first one a perl script, the second a system groovy script using the groovy plugin. I need information from the first perl script in my second groovy script. I think the best way would be to set some environment variable, and was wondering how that can be realized.
Or any other better way.
Thanks for your time.
The way to propagate environment variables among build steps is via EnvInject Plugin.
Here are some previous answers that show how to do it:
How to set environment variables in Jenkins?
Jenkins : Report results of intermediate [windows batch] build steps in email body
In your case, however, it may be simpler just to write to a file in one build step and read that file in another. To make sure you do not accidentally read from a previous version of the file you can incorporate BUILD_ID in the file name.
Using EnvInject Plugin from job configuration you should use Inject environment variables to the build process / Evaluated Groovy script.
Depending on the setup you may execute Groovy or shell command and save it in map containing environment variables:
Example
By either getting command result with execute method:
return [DATE: 'date'.execute().text]
or with Groovy equivalent if one exists:
return [DATE: new Date()]
