I have a very large file that creates triggers that I auto generated. However I'm not able to get passed line 3.
Php version 5.3.2
Mysql Version 14.14 Distrib 5.1.41
Here are the first few lines:
1 delimiter $$
2 -- CompanyTitleHolder
3 -- Create INSERT event for CompanyTitleHolder
4 CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER trigger_insert_CompanyTitleHolder AFTER INSERT ON CompanyTitleHolder
5 FOR EACH ROW
6 BEGIN
7
8 IF(NEW.CompanyTitleHolderID <> '') OR (NEW.CompanyTitleHolderID IS NOT NULL) THEN
9 CALL add_Audit (#UserName, "CompanyTitleHolder", "CompanyTitleHolderID", "--new record--", NEW.CompanyTitleHolderID);
10 END IF;
11 -- This goes on for quite a while
?? END;$$
?? delimiter ;
And this is the error:
/* SQL Error (1064): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'TRIGGER trigger_insert_CompanyTitleHolder AFTER INSERT ON CompanyTitleHolder F' at line 3 */
I'm trying to do an audit table using this method and code as my base
MySQL doesn't support OR REPLACE: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/create-trigger.html
CREATE OR REPLACE doesn't seem to work in MySQL, it's an Old Bug. You'll have to do a DROP TRIGGER IF EXISTS before your CREATE TRIGGER statement.
You can't CREATE OR REPLACE.
Try:
DROP TRIGGER IF EXISTS trigger_insert_CompanyTitleHolder;
CREATE TRIGGER trigger_insert_CompanyTitleHolder AFTER INSERT ON CompanyTitleHolder

You need to change the delimiter when you run DDL statements like this. MySQL is interpreting your semicolon as the end of your CREATE EVENT query, not as a delimiter within it.
Try this:
DELIMITER $$
CREATE EVENT demo
ON SCHEDULE
EVERY 2 SECOND
DO BEGIN
update alarm set is_on=1;
END $$
DELIMITER ;
I'm trying to create a trigger in MySQL using phpMyAdmin, but I'm getting and error and I can't detect the mistake. The main idea its to create a row in the tables stuff and config when a new user is insered.
The code:
CREATE TRIGGER create_stuff_and_config
AFTER INSERT ON user
FOR EACH ROW
BEGIN
insert into stuff(user_id) values (NEW.user_id);
insert into config(user_id) values(NEW.user_id);
END;
The error:
1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 5
I've checked the MySQL doc but I see like I'm doing it well...
I've tried too: INSERT INTO stuff SET user_id = NEW.user_id;
Thank you!
Okay, the solution is to add delimiters...
DELIMITER //
CREATE TRIGGER create_stuff_and_config
AFTER INSERT ON user
FOR EACH ROW
BEGIN
insert into stuff(user_id) values (NEW.user_id);
insert into config(user_id) values(NEW.user_id);
END; //
DELIMITER ;
m writing following lines for creating a trigger:
create trigger notify after insert on applications
for each row
begin
insert into notifications SET sno=1;
end;
but everytime i get following error:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 4
line 4 is - insert into notifications SET sno=1
MySQL is confused about the delimiters. It thinks the first ; is the end of the TRIGGER declaration (which it is not). Use delimiter to change it temporarily, and later to change it back:
delimiter |
create trigger notify after insert on applications
for each row
begin
insert into notifications (sno) values (1);
end;
|
delimiter ;
More in the documentation.
I try to create trigger in MySql but get the following error:
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'DELIMITER' at line 1
DELIMITER $$
CREATE TRIGGER library_update
AFTER UPDATE ON wq6vt_vehiclemanager_vehicles
FOR EACH ROW
BEGIN
INSERT IGNORE INTO wq6vt_vehiclemanager_library (maker, model) VALUES(NEW.maker, NEW.vmodel);
INSERT INTO wq6vt_vehiclemanager_library_data (co2_class)
SELECT co2_class FROM wq6vt_vehiclemanager_vehicles
WHERE maker = NEW.maker AND vmodel = NEW.vmodel;
END $$
DELIMITER;
The first query in the trigger do not lead to errors, but second one does. There is some problem with SELECT inside of INSERT ...I think so
there should be a space between the keyword and the symbol,
DELIMITER ;
-- ^ space in between here
I tried writing this small trigger in MySQL,
CREATE TRIGGER `leg` BEFORE INSERT ON `bckoff`
FOR EACH ROW BEGIN
INSERT INTO `bckoff` SET `step`=1;
END;
after which I get this error.. I'm a newbie to MySQL.. so please help me out here..
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3
Even after you fix this error - you'll get another one: you cannot modify the table that your trigger was created at.
Btw, this is how you should create this trigger:
delimiter |
CREATE TRIGGER `leg` BEFORE INSERT ON `bckoff`
FOR EACH ROW BEGIN
INSERT INTO `bckoff` SET `step`=1;
END;
|
delimiter ;
