I have a question of how to develop a small website which is quick and easy which has html support unlike google sites. For one of my course project I have to develop a prototype of the website but just html pages. Want to implement the clicks, text fields, checkboxes etc., I have created a small site of googlesites but that doens't allow me to put the html like text fields radio buttons etc., I just wanted to know if there is any free WYSIWYG capable for doing my stuff.

I dont want to use the div tags and arrange the location of HTML. I just want to drag and drop the fields and the site should automatically place the fields appropriately on the webpage something as easy as google sites
I found jsfiddle.net to be really useful. Basically you can put in HTML, CSS, and Javascript, click "Run" and see the result.
It's great for testing or hacking some CSS or Javascript, as it gives you instant feedback, saving you the "edit, save, launch, wait, repeat" cycle you might find using a text or HTML editor.

I'm not sure if I understood your question correctly. Perhaps you are looking for a tool like Google sites but with more capabilities? If so, http://www.weebly.com/ is a good option and it is free.

I am new to web development and just trying to add spelling suggestion to a textarea. I really don't know what I am going to need for this, need to write the code myself or use a third party library etc. Can someone suggest me how to add this functionality to a simple HTML page containing a textarea. I want when I write a misspelled word in text area, some suggestions matching that word should appear in dropdown.
Well autocorrect in the web page can be achieved by JavaScript for sure.

I have a simple html/css-only static website on which I would like to add a blog. Comments and RSS aren't necessary.
Now, how do I do that, without having to write all my entries in pure html?
My website consists of a vertical menu and an area to the right of it, where all the content goes on each page. I would like a blog inside that area on the blog page, so a blog on a separate page with its own layout is not what I'm looking for.
Googling this doesn't really help me much since the majority of the hits are on sites offering blog services.

If i understand what you want the answer is that ist is not possible in pure html and css. With only Html and css you can not make a blog (if you dont want to edit the source everytime you write an entry and have to make a new file for each entry and so on).
You need some code (php or so) that is able to store and load the entrys into your site.
Html and css are not meant to make things working. With Html you define the elements so that they are structed and then with css you "style" your work. But for the task of a blog (i think you want an editor for the text on the site, the ability to edit, delete, more than one site and so on) you need something like php or aps.net that is able to "interact".
I have a course work for which I have to make a (as advanced as possible) WYSIWYG web page editor in VB.NET (2010). It should have a visual editor with drag-drop support for several elements such as anchors, images, tables etc., and it should generate HTML based on that structure.
I don't know where to begin though.. I have some experience with vb.net, I made a tabbed notepad vaguely following a tutorial, but I don't know how to make this drag-drop thingy in a richtextbox.
I've searched for a tutorial, but most of them are just too simple - a text editor with browser control rendering the HTML.. I found one really nice and advanced, but it's in german :-|

I won't start with a richtextbox. Do you want to realize it in WPF or Forms (I would recommend WPF)?
In WPF there is relative simple a Drag-And-Drop behavior for elements (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-en/library/ms742859.aspx).
I would start with some simple elements (e.g. TextBoxes) and drag-drop them from some sort of toolbox onto a grid with fixed columns and rows (and later use a canvas). And then generate the HTML-Code from that.
In general, most of the WYSIWYG browser based editors are written in Javascript using an editable DIV.

You can use CKEditor. Its one of the best WYSIWYG editor i have worked with. Its highly customizable and opensource.

I'm in the process of writing a website and I want some tabs on the side of my website. I want the website to flow well, so I don't want a simple graphical link to a website, but rather an interactive tab system where you can click on what you want and you will get there instantly.
My experience is limited to XHTML and CSS, so I probably am not advanced enough to know how to do this, but I am willing to learn anything needed to accomplish making my vision reality.

Use Javascript; I would recommend jQuery.
Approach 1: The idea is to initially hide the contents of the tab, then show the corresponding one when a tab is clicked. There's already a JQuery Plugin for this: http://jqueryui.com/demos/tabs/
Approach 2: If you have huge contents, I would suggest to use AJAX to load the contents of each tab on demand. This way, all of the contents are not loaded in one go thus saving bandwidth and improving performance. However, this approach needs knowledge in server-side programming, in a way this is more advanced than Approach 1.

I'm in the process of reproducing some standalone HTML forms as pages in a CMS that uses FCKEditor by simply copying and pasting the relevant code into the editor.
But when I save and view the page, the HTML has been changed and the tag has been moved up to just below the open tag -- and not at the bottom of the form. This obviously renders all of the fields in the form, including the submit button, useless.
Is there a way to tell FCKEditor that I know what I'm doing and I don't need it to validate the HTML output?
Unfortunately this is a hosted CMS service (actually part of an email blast tool) so making changes to the configuration will mean I need to go through the company's support system, which is fine -- but they haven't been able to solve it for me yet, so I'm hoping to get the answers for them.

This is a bit of a difficult thing because as far as I know, it's not necessarily the WYSIWYG editors that "fix" "broken" HTML, it's the browsers' HTML editing engines themselves, and it's often near impossible to talk them out of doing this.
You'd have to show your exact source to get detailed feedback, but check out whether protectedSource is something for you. It's supposed to protect code that is covered by the regular expression you specify.
I'm not sure about FCKEditor, but you might want to consider switching to TinyMCE. TinyMCE allows you to both edit a list of allowed tags, and to turn off HTML validation off completely if you like.
