Path Finding in 3d environment in Java - language-agnostic

I understand that there are a couple of links about path finding in 2d.Is there any java example that shows how to implement path findings in 3d environment.
I have already seen lot of code and explanations about this.but none of them will really help. How to implement this in 3d enviorment

If you mean 3d pathfinding as 2d pathfinding in 3d space. For example, you have a 3d scene and something needs to find its way around the walls and rooms. If this is the case you can just make some system to keep track of all your walls (say... BSP tree?) and then implement a common pathfinding algorithm such as A*.

Flash automatically finds curve intersection points. Can I use that code like I use curveTo in actionscript?

Or do I have to get down and dirty with the math and do the spline intersection math myself? I know the basic math for Quadratic b-splines.
I'm trying to make procedural randomly generated Celtic knot-work that animates itself. I'm inspired by the book of Kells original book -and the animation of the same name. This means at best it will be seriously complicated - lots of curves animating fast. I'm going for generative -responsive to the user- Celtic knots of the highest possible complexity.... that may mean only 12 points animating randomly and in response to mouse movements but... I'd love hundreds or tens of thousands... some day.
Developing a moving random curvy double lined loop scribble was easy. I like the look of the curves made from 12 to 14 random points. Now I want to weave it over under over under. To do that -- I need to find the intersections of lots of random curves quickly for each frame. When I draw curves in Flash in the -not object- drawing mode... Flash does intersections and generates points automatically for me.
Questions:
-Is there an equivalent intersection class/method/function in Actionscript 3.0 to the intersections so easily done in the flash drawing interface?
-How much of what you do in Flash as an artist has cool classes like curveTo in Actionscript 3.0?
-Can I see the source code for curveTo?
-Can I extend the curveTo to do what I want?
-I have been reading and re-reading the reference and how to extend classes... that I made. But how to I learn how to extend curveTo ... or Path classes... can I?

Alternativa3D: Actionscript3: How to avoid z-fighting in imported 3DS model?

I can't seem to find a specific solution for my problem so I hope someone here can help me.
I am experimenting with alternativa 3D in Actionscript3 and I managed to upload a textured .3DS model from 3D Max.
The object is a complex spaceship that wasn't intended to be used in a game but I wanted to use it as an example.
The problem is:
Since the imported model is complex it has a lot of overlapping parts. Alternativa z-sorting engine don't react well to this overlapping and the output is jittery texture(i don't know how else to call it) in the overlapping places.
I know next time to model my objects with as less overlapping parts as possible but I am sure this problem will reappear in other forms in the future.
The Alternativa documentation suggests using Decal objects instead of Mash objects but I can't seem to convert imported object Mashs to Decay objects.
Any help will be appreciated.
If you have a model where faces directly intersect one another, then I'd suggest this, not the engine, is the problem.
A well-built 3d model shouldn't have any intersecting faces - you may not notice or think it's a problem in a program like 3dsMAX, you can get away with it more - but it'll certainly show up in a real-time engine.

AS3 - Moving a line through guide

I'm trying to animate a nodal with flash for teaching purposes. This is what I want to animate:
My questions:
How can I move the line through a guide?
Can guides hold z positions, so I could make the rope's top and bottom parts more real?
Can a vector image (rope) move through a guide path?
Which way is this possible, strokes or brushes?
Does as3 scripting support "decorated brush" effects?
Is there a simpler way to do this such as sandy or awake3d or beziercurves?
If you're using the IDE like CS4 or CS5 there are some menu options to do this. I only use a text editor and Flex SDK to compile. While I know what you're talking about, I can't really answer this one since I don't have the program. There's plenty of tutorials on the subject, however.
I believe the path-following tools in CS* only follow (x,y) coordinates. No Z values in the menus, but you can code them yourself. Again, I don't have the program, but from the tutorials I read it looks like no.
I suppose it could. Instead of a line drawing like you have here, you could simply use an image of one rope segment (as in a picture of rope whose length is equal to one twist of the rope), then apply transformations to get the correct 3D perspective.
Basic flash programs only draw fills. You can, however, run a shader program (called pixel bender) within flash which will draw strokes for you.
Not on it's own, no. But there is nothing stopping you from programming your own decorated brush class.
Bezier curves are probably the way to go.

Depth map (2d+z) algorithm or software

I'm searching for Depth map algorithm for action scrip 3 (or some other language).
My goal is to generate depth map for static image on run time.
I have fount this example http://kode80.com/2009/06/29/papervision-zbuffer-and-dof/, i didn't have the time to investigate it's code but i have the filling its working only with 3d models.
Worst viable option is server side technology that does the work.
Extended description:
I have a task to develop flash application where 3d rotation of a head is simulated by a 2d image uploaded by the user.
There are some japan guys that have managed to do that (http://hairtry.jp/), but the technology that they are using is server side. It generates swf fail with precisely coped eyes and image for the depth map of the uploaded picture. I can't find out what is the sever side technology that they are using so I'm searching for any posible workarounds.
Thanks in advance.

your easiest solution would be to use a 3d engine, Paper vision seems to be getting out dated, theres a lot of documents on how to use, and tutorials but again not much has been happening with them lately. i suggest Away3d "www.away3d.com" they seem up to date.
for what your asking it is possible to do this 100% in flash but to create a 3d head at runtime and fill the face with hieght maps this is possible, you would need to look at bitmap manipulation.i dont think this is an easy task, what you should learn first is how to add an image to a spheric surface dynamically than look into height mapping by converting certain coulours from the image into different levels of depth i must say im sure this is advanced stuff, i manged to animate a globe that was this same method it looks dodgy but it gives you some source code in the FLA
http://www.ffiles.com/flash/animations/globe_animation_3496.html
The above link will allow you to download my source files, the animation it self is a scrolling image but i used Actionscript to give the globe depth and a sheric look

ActionScript 3 - Can you manipulate a 3d object using AS

I have seen tutorials on creating a 3d character in flash. Is there a way to manipulate (animate and move) this 3d character with actionscript 3? If so, could you guide me with some links?
Thanks
You will need to do a bit of reading up on a 3rd party library to help you to achieve this. One such library is Away 3D which can be used to manipulate 3d characters in Flash.
The process goes like:
Build a model in a 3D package
Load it in to away3d
I am not certain but I think animations are supported in a Collada file but its moving so fast that maybe other formats are supported. I know they were working on their own format.
Anyway if you head over there and maybe post on their forums or look at some of the examples, you should get the idea.
