Must specify your Context like: for example:
META-INF/context.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Context>
<Resource
name="jdbc/database"
auth="Container"
type="javax.sql.DataSource"
maxActive="4"
maxIdle="2"
username="root"
maxWait="5000"
driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"
password="password"
url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/database_name"/>
</Context>
WEB-INF/web.xml
<web-app>
...
<context-param>
<param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name>
<param-value>/WEB-INF/classes/app-context.xml</param-value>
</context-param>
...
<resource-ref>
<description>DB Connection</description>
<res-ref-name>jdbc/database</res-ref-name>
<res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
<res-auth>Container</res-auth>
</resource-ref>
</web-app>
app-context.xml
...
<jee:jndi-lookup id="dataSourcejndi" jndi-name="jdbc/database"
lookup-on-startup="false" proxy-interface="javax.sql.DataSource"
cache="true" resource-ref="true" />
...
<beans: bean id="dataSource"
class="org.springframework.jndi.JndiObjectFactoryBean" lazy-init="true">

Hope helps...

I am trying to complete the web tutorial 'Creating a simple web application using a MySQL database'. The NetBeans project name is 'IFPWAFCAD' and I am using GlassFish 5 and Java EE 5.
The database and its tables are listed correctly under Project Services, and the database shows as connected.
I am unable to deploy the application after attempting to create a connection pool. The xml files are as follows:

You must put the mysql-connector jar inside your tomcat's "lib" folder, not in pom.
Why must the JDBC driver be put in TOMCAT_HOME/lib folder?

I have created a REST web service with spring, mysql with jdbc template. I have added mysql connector jar. I have included mysql in pom.xml too.
In the tomcat server.xml I have added <Resource auth="Container" driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" maxActive="20" maxIdle="10" maxWait="-1" name="jdbc/test" password="root" type="javax.sql.DataSource" url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test" username="root"/>.
But still I am unable to find the source of this error.
After adding<ResourceLink name="jdbc/test" global="jdbc/test" type="javax.sql.DataSource" /> to the tomcat's context.xml, i am not getting the exception javax.naming.NameNotFoundException, but my ResourceMapping is not working.

I mannaged to start the tomcat server if i comment out jpaContext.xml path but when i enter the user and the password it says that ROLE_ADMIN is unknown.
Notice that you are using two context parameters named contextConfigLocation.
My guess it that by default the one of them will override the second one.
You can define the two xmls in one context-pram block i.e.
<context-param>
<param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name>
<param-value>
/WEB-INF/config/security-config.xml
classpath:jpaContext.xml
</param-value>
</context-param>
Make sure that the jpaContext.xml is located correctly on the root of the classpath (using classpath: in spring)
Notice that the DispatcherServlet creates ApplicationContext, which is a child of the root ApplicationContext. Beans in a child ApplicationContext can reference beans of its parent ApplicationContext however, the parent ApplicationContext cannot refer to beans of the child ApplicationContext.
Note that you did not define any access pattern for ROLE_ADMIN but you have one for ROLE_USER.
Make sure that user_roles mapping are correct.
I am working on a web based project using spring ,hybernate +jpa .I am trying to configure JTA Transactions with Atomkios
my backend is mySql. I am not able to setup the application to work with mySql.
my web server is tomcat 5.5.I am trying to cal jndi configured datasource .. here my code is
persistence.xml:
<persistence-unit name="exhub" transaction-type="JTA">
<provider>org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence</provider>
<jta-data-source>java:comp/env/jdbc/exampleWeb</jta-data-source>

and i configured jndi in tomcat 5.5
Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5\conf.xml:
<Resource

and my application\web.xml
<resource-ref>

</resource-ref>
My server is staring fine but when i trying to access db data i am getting the following error in my web browser
org.springframework.jdbc.CannotGetJdbcConnectionException: Could not get JDBC Connection; nested exception is org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create JDBC driver of class '' for connect URL 'null'
org.springframework.jdbc.datasource.DataSourceUtils.getConnection(DataSourceUtils.java:82)
Help me
I think your application is not finding the mysql connector jar file or your url is misconfigured.
Try the following
Put your mysql connector jar file under tomcat/common/lib so that it gets picked up before the webapp classes.
Change your context.xml to have Resource as below.
<Resource name="jdbc/exampleWeb"
auth="Container"
type="javax.sql.DataSource"
maxActive="100"
maxIdle="30"
username="root"
maxWait="10000"
driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"
password="roopt"
url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/welcomeHub"/>
I've seen that same eror with DBCP and it usually means that it can't find the JDBC driver...make sure "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" is available to the container
I can't understand why do you need both entityManagerFactory and sessionFactory, usually only one of them is needed.
If sessionFactory is not needed, remove it. Otherwise note that its datasource is not configured - I guess it's a cause.
