I am getting R6034 error, but can't see the related library/executable since it's name is shortened (see the picture below). Is there any way I can see the full name?
Start task manager and go to the "Applications" tab. The popup should be in that list.
Right-click the window and choose "go to process". Task manager now jumps to the "processes" tab and shows the process that gives this message.
If you want to find out which DLL is causing the problem, open your executable in Dependency Walker. If the static analysis of Dependency Walker does not reveal the problem, profile the application in Dependency Walker and look at the profiling output.

I hear people mention this AQE feature sometimes and I'm wondering how to verify if my job is using it or not. I'm running transformations both in Code Repositories and Code Workbooks.
This is noted in the Environment details tab of a job.
Navigate to Builds page
Find your running Build in the Build page. Click on it.
Find your relevant Job inside your Build's page. Click on it.
In the expanded view under your Job, click on the Spark Details button
Click on the Environment tab
Look for a row for adaptiveExecutionEnabled. If true, you are using AQE. If false then you are not.
When I try to run my Windows Store app, it won't, and shows me this:
..."does not support the contract specified"? What contract? I'm not implementing any contract; I assume it means the Settings contract or some such, but I'm not doing any of those yet.
I went to the Help page suggested, and it says, in part, "To diagnose these errors
There are no sure ways to fix these errors. Use these techniques to diagnose the problem."
The first suggestion is:
Open Event Viewer (on the Windows Start menu, search for Event Viewer.) In Event Viewer, navigate in the tree to the Application and Services Log\Microsoft\Windows\Apps folder.
Filter the view to event Ids: 5900-6000
Examine the log and see what occurred.
Windows 8.1 only brings up web pages when I search for "Event Viewer"
Actually, I did write a utility to catch event logs, and I ran that. I found these:

But where is "Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log"?
The second suggestion on the Help page was:
Use the native debugger
Configure the project to run under a native debugger.
In Visual Studio, set the Debugger Type to Native Only on the Debug (Debugging in C++ and JavaScript) page of the property pages of the start-up project.
Look at the exceptions being thrown by looking at the output window. You might want to configure the debugger to stop when these exceptions are thrown.
I did that, but it gave me no more information than previously - nothing at all displays in the Output pane.
What could be the cause of this?

Just to update the progress:
Based on Iris Classon's suggestions, I went to Control Panel to see if my app was installed so that I could uninstall it, but it's not in that list.
If I search for the app by typing its name, it tries to start up - its splash screen displays, but goes no further than that.
I went to Program Files\WindowsApps, and when selecting it got, "You don't currently have persimmons to access this folder, click continue to continually get access"
That leads me to "You have been denied permission to access this folder; to gain access to this folder, you will need to use the security tab"
Click the "security tab" link takes me to that tab, and a "For special permissions or advanced settings, click Advanced"
I do so.
That takes me to a Permissions tab, which says, "You must have Read permissions to view the properties of this object; Click continue to attempt the operation with administrative permissions"
I then selected (one at a time, as that is all it allows):
Trusted Installer : Full control
System: Read, Write, and Execute
System: Full Control
Administrators: Read & Execute
But so far, none of that seems to do anything good.
UPDATE 2
This problem has just "gone away" today; I don't think it was anything I did. I added a UserControl, tried running the app again, and now it runs - I don't see that error message. However, I do see a seemingly unrelated one. (at least I got further).
I just had this problem on a fresh install of Windows 8.1 on my laptop. I'm not sure which one of these steps solved it, but until somebody can give you a more exact answer here is something to try as I am sure you are keen on coding.
Only Store Apps run from VS gives that error, other Store apps work fine.
I first of all changed permissions on my WindowsApps folder under Program Files and made sure that I had full access to the folder and sub folders. Restarted the laptop, still no luck.
Then I set up an admin guest account (just something I tend to do for when I need to record tutorials- so not related to trying to solve the error). Out of curiosity I tried to create and run the same Windows Store App and got an error that another user had installed the app. Strange, how was it installed if it gave me the error that it couldn't activate the app on the main account?
I logged back in as the main user and uninstalled the application (which was showing up as installed), and I can now run any Store App from VS without problems.
Not sure this is an answer since I'm not sure what made it work, but give it a try and hopefully somebody else can clear this us up. I'll investigate further, but I'm on a train right now with poor WiFi connection :)

I had the same scenario, here are the steps I did to resolve:
I tried to create packages, chose not to associate with the store.
It said that the certificate is expired, I created a new test certificate.
I created the test packages successfully.
Tried to run the project from VS and it finally ran.
I believe all of this had to do with the certificate. very frustrating and time wasting issue.
I also had the same problem and following steps fixed it. Hope it will help some one else.
Open the appxmanifest file
Go to "Packaging" tab
Select "Choose Certificate" and select "Pick from certificate store" and select your cetificate and click on ok
I don't know much about eclipse, but one of my juniors asked this. We use checkstyles to scan our code. When we get an error, the file that errored shows in the console display. How do we setup checkstyle and eclipse so that you can click on the class name in the display and go to the file. An example of what we are seeing
[checkstyle] C:\Users\me\Code\RP40\cmcBL\src\main\java\com\foo\bar\client\ProductsDocumentResource.java:98:50: Must have at least one statement.
is there a way to make that clickable?
Use Eclipse-CS, the Checkstyle Eclipse plugin. This will make Checkstyle warnings appear in Eclipse in the 'Problems' view. There, you can click on the entry and it will take you directly to the corresponding line of code.
I am trying to run the Playn example projects. I followed every step in this guide to setup new Playn development environment and then this guide to run sample projects.
it seem to work fine but when I try to run the HTML5 version by right click and then going to Google-> GWT compile, nothing happens. I don't see the development mode view poping up to copy the address and paste it to web browser as the guide says. I just get the following in the console window:

What you got from the compilation was all good.
"Beyond that nothing happens." is okay.
When you right click on the "playn-showcase-html" project, select "Run As - (g) Web Application", you should get an output to the "Development Mode" tab as "http://127.0.0.1:8888/Showcase.html?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997".
If not, check if you have got the following folder structures under the "playn-showcase-html" project:
playn-showcase-html
|...
|--war
|--Showcase.html
|--WEB-INF
|--web.xml
As far as I know, you can't simply compile (GWT) and run the HTML version. This is because, the HTML version requires a local web server (such as jetty/tomcat) to host the files in order for the project to be 'run'. However, a simpler way around this would be to try using ant via Eclipse.
Window > Show View > Ant
Once the window appears (probably on a sidebar), right-click and select:
Add Buildfiles...
When the list of projects appear, expand the project by clicking the small arrow to the left of the project name in the list. Then select the ant build file:
build.xml
That will add the ant build file to your list of active build files.
Expand similarly to look at the ant tasks provided by the build file.
Double click on the appropriate task; in your case:
run-html
OR
Run ant directly on the command-line to get the same results.
In the current version of PlayN a jetty server is being started automatically. Right click on the xx-html project "Run As"->"maven install". This starts the GWT compiler, and starts a jetty server (default port is 8080), then you can run the HTML5 version by typing "localhost:8080" in yout browser.
I've also wrote a more detailed description about this on my blog getting started with eclipse and PlayN , maybe this could be interesting.
I've just created a console application. If I run it from the command line, no problem - I can see my output. But if I run from within MonoDevelop, no application output window appears.
I restarted MonoDevelop and that had no effect.
Any suggestions?
And the answer is somewhat illogical (hence why multiple people have this question).
In the Options for the project, on the Run tab, there is a checkbox for "Run on external console." If this option is cleared, the Application Output window will come back when you run the project, and will the become available from the View -> Pads submenu.
