I am a beginner in java swing.
I have just created my first login screen using netbean.
I like to ask after my actionPerformed if say login successfully. How do i actually go to the next screen? As in coding wise how should i code or netbeans got something build in for this
You should have a new class that extends Jframe called something appropriate (MainWindow maybe) that gets created when the user enters the correct password, so probably in the eventListener code for the button
if (usernameAndPasswordCorrect()) {
loginWindow.setVisible(false);
loginWindow.dispose();
MainWindow w = new MainWindow();
w.setVisible(true);
}
else {
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(loginWindow, "Incorrect login information. Try again.");
}
Or something like that.

I have a page in a WP8 application, that every time I navigate to it, the constructor is called.
From what I know, the constructor of a page called only once at the first time the page loaded. my page is very heavy, and every construction takes wasted time..
this my navigation code, usual one:
NavigationService.Navigate(new Uri("/Views/Pages/ContentControlNew.xaml", UriKind.Relative));
and this is the constructor of the page:
public ContentControlNew()
{
InitializeComponent();
}
Not special.. is it normal that the constructor is called every time? Please tell me if you need more details because I don't know what else to say about this subject.
Yes this is normal because whenever you use NavigationService.Navigate it always creates a new page object and adds that (pushes it) to the navigation stack. For example when you use GoBack() it pops it out of the stack and destroys it, but when it gets back to the previous page it doesn't call the constructor since that one was already in the stack and does not have to be recreated.
If you don't want to create a page every time you navigate to it, you should look into Navigation Models for Windows Phone for some ideas on how you can tackle this.
I am new to Gtk# and Monodevelop. So please forgive the basic-ness of this question. But I am trying to do something really simple - and I can't seem to do it. Not sure if it matters, but I am developing on Linux
I have a MainWindow which has a button. When I click on this button, I want a custom widget to pop-up
I created a custom widget as a separate project, compile it as a .dll and refer it in the main project
In the main project, I have defined a call-back for button click - loadCustomWidget()
However, the code below does not show the custom-widget on screen
public partial class CustomWidget : Gtk.Bin ; // in the other project
protected void loadCustomWidget() {
Console.WriteLine(" show custom widget ") ;
wg = new CustomWidget() ;
wg.Show() ;
}
The WriteLine() is printed. So I know the call-back is being called. But why isn't the widget showing on screen?
You need to put the widget into a container, for example add it to your main window.
I am still learning PHP so my question may seem a little obvious but...
My question relates to opencart but is probably quite a common practice on many websites. I am creating a opencart module and in that module i have several buttons that complete different tasks. Now I have assigned the button the correct 'href' with the path and appropriate action. eg
$this->data['dosomething'] = $this->url->link('module/modulename/dosomething', 'token=' . $this->session->data['token'], 'SSL');
Note: I have called the module and action a general name for the purposes of my question.
In the controller I then have a private function called 'index', followed by a private function called 'dosomething' like below
public function index() {
* insert code *
}
public function dosomething() {
*insert code*
$this->redirect($this->url->link('module/modulename', 'token=' . $this->session->data['token'], 'SSL'));
}
Now, I would like to know how do I get the button to direct to the module controller and then run the 'dosomething' function. I could put something information in the link, ie action=dosomething and do it this way but most of opencart simply uses the text of the last / as the action. If I use the href stated above I get a error as it is trying to find the controller and template located in 'module/modulename/dosomething' rather than the controller and template located in 'module/modulename' USING the function 'dosomething'.
I hope this makes sense. I see that many other scripts in opencart successfully use this method but I just cant figure out how? I am sure I missing something obvious.
What you are doing is correct. OpenCart's framework will use the third piece of the route if specified as the method. If you try
public function dosomething() {
die('OK');
}
Then go to the url you've got, it should just show a blank white page with OK written on it. My guess is the error doesn't actually relate to the controller being an issue, and more to do with something else you've done. Either that, or the method and the third part of the route aren't a match, or the dosomething method isn't public
I built a simple hello world app to check out the Flash Builder 4.5 mobile capabilities.
Here's how it works:
The Default View asks for name in an textinput and has a continue button
When you click the continue button it pushes a new view in the viewNavigator which just displays "Hello " + name in a label.
When you click anywhere in this view, it pops a view (i.e. itself) from the viewNavigator, to go back to the default view
I see only 1 issue with this:
When I get back to the default view, it is in its initial state, i.e. the textInput is blank. It seems as if the viewNavigator created a new view of the default view's class and pushed this, instead of just removing the top view and displaying the previous one.
I see this being especially problematic for programs which display data in a grid and you can click the data to view the detail...when you get back, the grid will be empty.
Any ideas or gotchas to solve this?
EDIT:
Project name: HelloWorld
Code below:
HelloWorldDefaultView.mxml
protected function button1_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
navigator.pushView(HiView, tName.text);
}
HiView.mxml
protected function view1_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
navigator.popView();
}
protected function view1_creationCompleteHandler(event:FlexEvent):void {
lblHello.text="Hello " + data;
}
Screenshots
Initial screen
Screen 2
Clicking on screen 2 gets us back to initial screen. Notice the blank textInput
Have you tried to set destructionPolicy="never" and then
protected function button1_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
data = tName.text;
navigator.pushView(HiView, tName.text);
}
to store the data in current View's data - before changing to another one?
That's the way it is supposed to work for mobile applications.
Check out this article: Flex 4.5 (Hero) – Persistant Data in MobileApplication
As they write:
Each time a View is removed from the display list (via popView() or pushView()) its instance is destroyed, but its data model is stored in memory.
In order to save session state for a View, you must modify the data property. This property will be requested when destroying the current instance of the View class. And the data property value will be assigned back to a newly created instance of the same View class when navigating back to that view.
We are using LTSP with Thin-Clients. We are using it, to run a Java-Swing-Application. The users should not be able to do anything else, so instead of a Gnome-Session we use a shell-script to start our application.
Nearly everything works perfect but one thing: When the Thin-Client starts, the application starts too but doesn't receive the focus. We have to click once with the mouse inside the application, which is not that good, because the application is designed to be used without a mouse.
I didn't found anything useful, a toFront() on my Main Frame wasn't successful.
Has anyone any better suggestions??
You can use method java.awt.Window#setAlwaysOnTop(boolean) to grab the focus and after the first user interaction reset the alwayOnTop property.
You could try to call requestFocus on your JFrame as soon as it becomes visible:
JFrame frame = new JFrame();
frame.addComponentListener(new ComponentAdapter() {
public void componentShown(ComponentEvent e) {
((JFrame) e.getSource()).requestFocus();
}
});
frame.setVisible(true);
