Ehcache hangs in test - junit

I am in the process of rewriting a bottle neck in the code of the project I am on, and in doing so I am creating a top level item that contains a self populating Ehcache. I am attempting to write a test to make sure that the basic call chain is established, but when the test executes it hands when retrieving the item from the cache.

After wrestling with it for a while, I discovered that the cache wasn't being initialized. Creating a CacheManager and adding the cache to it resolved the problem.

I also had a problem with EHCache hanging, although only in a hello-world example. Adding this to the end fixed it (the application ends normally).

How do I make a JMS ObjectMessage for a Unit Test?

I'm trying to write a unit test for an MDB. The goal of my test is to make sure that the logic in the MDB can identify the correct type of object in the ObjectMessage and process it. However, I can't figure out how to make an ObjectMessage so I can test it. I keep getting null pointer exceptions.

I feel like I should be able to initialize Session somehow, but I need to do it without using an additional library like Mockrunner.
Any suggestions?
I would try to address this in a different style. Provide a mock client, that will just mock the right API.
We should mock only a set of functions required for message retrieval and processing but that means we might have to provide a custom implementation for some of the APIs available in the EJB/JMS library. The mock client will have a function to push messages on a given topic/queue/channel, message can be simple String.
A simple implementation might look like this, in this other methods have been omitted for simplicity.

There's no straight forward, you can see if there're any library that can provide you embedded JMS client feature.

How to correctly handle data management with SharedPreferences?

Right now, I am in the process of "optimizing" my app. I am still a beginner, so what I am doing is basically moving methods from my MainActivity.class to their separate class. I believe it's called Encapsulation (Please correct me if I'm wrong).
My application needs to :
Get a YouTube Playlist Link from the YouTube App (with an Intent, android.intent.action.SEND).
Use the link to fetch data from the Google Servers with the YouTubeApi and Volley.
Read the data received and add it to an arrayList<String>.
What my YouTubeUsage.java class is supposed to do, is fetch data with the YouTubeApi and Volley then store the data using SharedPreferences. Once the data is saved, the data is being read in my ConvertActivity.class (It's an activity specifically created for android.intent.action.SEND) with my method getVideoIds() before setting an adapter for my listView in my createRecyclerView() method.

Everything works fine, however, my sharedPreferences never gets updated. Which means, if I share a YouTube playlist from the YouTube App to my app with 3 items in it, it will work fine. The Listview will show 3 items with their corresponding IDs as it should. But, if I share a YouTube playlist again, my app will still hold on to the data of the previous playlist I shared (even if I close it), showing the item number and the IDs of the previous link. If i continue to share the same playlist over and over, it will eventually show the correct number of items and the correct IDs.
I could totally put all my methods from the YouTubeUsage.java in my ConvertActivity.class preventing me from using SharedPreferences to transfer data between the two java classes. However, JSON throws an exception. That means I have to encapsulate my code with try/catch. I would like to avoid those since I need to do a lot of operations on the data just received by Volley (check a class size, look for certains strings). I find that doing this in these try/catch don't work like I want. (i.e. outside the try/catch, the values remains the same even if I updated them in the try/catch).
I want to know two things.
How can I correct this problem?
Is this the most efficient way to do this (optimization)? (I though of maybe
converting the VolleyResponse to a string with Gson then store the String file, but I don't know if that's the best way to do it since it's supposed to be
provisional data. It feels like just more of the same).

There is an issue with making assumptions about order of events. Volley will handle requests asynchronously, so it is advisable to implement the observer pattern here.
Create a new Java file that just contains:

In your YoutubeUsage constructor, pass in the Activity context (YoutubeUsage) and then store this in a YoutubeUsage instance variable called ctx.

In onResponse just call ctx.goodResponse(response).
Amend the following block to:

The issue is at the line new FilterToDB(searchFilter, user) in your getIndActivities() method of the service, because searchFilterToDB objects are different, the method call is NOT actually mocked.
So, to solve the problem, you need to extract new FilterToDB object creation to a separate class & mock the method call to that class.

I have an idea what this may be but you can stop reading this now (and I apologize for wasting your time in advance) if the answer to the following is no:
Is one (or more) of Request, Response, or MyDemoService in the same namespace as IServiceProtoType?
I suspect that Windsor is getting confused about those, since you are doing...
Types

.InSameNamespaceAs<IServiceProtoType>()
... and then configuring everything which that returns as a WCF client proxy. This means that it will be trying to create proxies for things that should not be and hence a Sequence Contains no Elements exception (not the most useful message IMHO but crushing on).
The simple fix would be just to put your IServiceProtoType into its own namespace (I often have a namespace like XXXX.Services for my service contracts).
If that is not acceptable to you then you need to work out another way to identify just the service contracts - take a look at the If method for example or just a good ol' Component.For perhaps.

Castle Windsor Singleton Instantiated On Each Call To Resolve

I'm using Castle Windsor 2.5.3 in an ASP.NET 4.0 Web Application (not ASP.NET MVC)
I have an interceptor which is being used to intercept calls to a data access component. The interceptor depends on a cache manager. The cache manager is used by the interceptor to avoid calling the data access component if the cache manager has the required data.
Even though the cache manager is registered as a Singleton, it is being instantiated multiple times. I can prove this with a debug message or a hit-count breakpoint in its default constructor.
A new requirement is for the cache to be clearable on demand, so I thought it would be a simple matter of resolving the Cache Manager and calling EmptyCache. What is happening is that the container is creating a new instance of the Cache Manager on which the call to EmptyCache has no effect (since the new cache manager has no cached data).
