I'm running an SSIS package that I made a few months ago, and ran into an odd error.
The package loads data from a tab-delimited file that's exported from an excel worksheet. Errors are redirected to an error table, which is later serialized to an output file.
With my most recent attempts to load these files, every row is rejected with the DTS_E_FLATFILESOURCEADAPTERSTATIC_CANTCONVERTVALUE error code and a column number that doesn't exist in the input file (there are 13 rows on the input, the error column is 187.
I figure that there's something not exported to csv properly, but I'm at at a loss to explain what it is. I've looked at the file, and it has the proper encoding. In addition the SSIS package builder generates the preview correctly.
When have you run into this error before, and what solutions/workarounds did you find that worked?
Some details about the execution environment: package run via dtexec, 2 parameters set on the command line. One is the working folder for the package, the other is the file name. The data is loaded into a SQL Server 2005 database.

Good question, when I first started with SSIS this would happen to me all the time and there is hardly any information on why this happens. What I found is that if you delete the Flat-File/Excel Import component and the actual file from the datasources list on the bottom and then re-add it you can often correct this issue.
As I mentioned before, I am not entirely sure what causes the preview to get out of whack with what is happening but I suspect it may have something to do with the ID keys assigned to different components (just pure conjecture though).
Figured out what the error was: I was passing parameters on the command line improperly.
I was running DTEXEC as follows:
> dtexec /f "C:\Path\to\Package.dtsx"
/set \package.Variables[User::InputFileName].Value;"filename"
/set \package.Variables[User::WorkingDir].Value;"C:\working\dir\"
Either DOS or SSIS was parsing the User:WorkingDir variable incorrectly... it interpreted the backslashes within the path as escape sequences, not as path components. Updating the dtexec line to escape each backslash fixed the issue:
> dtexec /f "C:\Path\to\Package.dtsx"
/set \package.Variables[User::InputFileName].Value;"filename"
/set \package.Variables[User::WorkingDir].Value;"C:\\working\\dir\\"
(line breaks added for clarity)
It pains me when I miss the blatantly obvious ;)

I have an SSIS package (SQL 2016) that loads files into a database.
At the beginning of the package I have a Foreach Loop container (Foreach File Enumerator). This loop checks to see if there are any files in an error folder. The desired condition is that there are no files in the error folder.
The ETL works well. However, when there are no files in the error folder, the Foreach Loop container generates a warning:
Foreach File - Check Error Folder:Warning: The For Each File
enumerator is empty. The For Each File enumerator did not find any
files that matched the file pattern, or the specified directory was
empty.
Since this is the desired situation (that there are no files) and since my control flow handles the situation either way, is there a way to suppress this warning?
The reason for wanting to suppress the warning is because the warning count on the package is always 1. Sometimes, however, SSIS warnings are important (such as when fields get out sync). I'd prefer not to have packages that always have warnings since they could mask other, genuine, issues.
It sounds like a small thing, so I thought for sure there'd be a way, but I haven't found it. I tried setting an OnWarning event handler on the Foreach loop and setting Propagate to False. But the warning still gets counted as a warning when the package runs.
I think the best way to solve this small issue is to write a very small script task. Just pass input variable with the path to a folder into the script task, check files count and return output variable back and then use the precedence constraint with an expression

I have SSIS Package which will load .EXT file into my Database table.
The package Flat File connection manager Editor properties are
Format: Ragged Right
Code Page: 1252 ANSI (Latin-I)
Text Qualifier: <None>
Header Row Delimiter: <LF>
While trying to preview the file before loading, i am able to see all the rows in columns and
preview tab of Flat File connection manager Editor.
But in actual loading of the file, last record alone is not getting imported into table.
It was loading fine and still it is processing the file on daily basis.
Only for two days file, it was not imported last records. I am trying to find the root cause.
I suspected something wrong with the file, but i do not find any differences between the
working and not-working version of files.
Please suggest us to resolve the same. Kindly let me know if any informations required.
I ran into the same issue and did some research to find a solution that worked from me. Apparently the SSIS package had gone through a conversion from an earlier version at one point. When the conversion was done, the text qualifier property on the flat file connection was mangled. It had originally been <none>, but the conversion changed it to _x003C_none_x003E_. I opened the flat file connection manager and changed the text qualifier property on the general tab back to the proper value of <none>.

I had a similar issue. My flat file didn't had any text qualifiers. When i added a text qualifier the package ran successfully. My guess is that the file is read as text and the CRLF is not recognized at the last line.

I developed a SSIS package that creates several .txt files. These files are zipped and then the .txt files need to be removed. Using a foreach file enumerator, I loop through all the .txt files for a specific folder. The folder is retrieved from a variable in configuration and looks something like: C:\Folder\
The foreach loop uses: *.txt to gather all .txt files, does not traverse subfolder and uses the full qualified name.
In the Variable Mappings the "FileName" variable gets filled with the 0 index.
Within the foreachloop I use a File system task.
This task removes the .txt files which are generated before, using the FileName variable that is filled in the loop.
On the development machine this runs like a charm. All greens, no problem at all. Now I copy the package and the configuration file to the test environment. A basic version without the file removing was running perfectly fine here. I replaced the package. Nothing big.
Now I run the SQl Server Agent Job and it starts running. I can see all the text files appearing, and disappearing after it created the zipfiles. However, when all files are removed the package results with errors. Namely the error shown above in the title.
I tried looking for the connectionmanager that might have been removed
Looked for connection managers named in the config that don't exist in the package.
No such thing found. Annoying part is that the package is fully functioning, but still results with the error.
EDIT: I noticed that if I run the package using the execute package utility with the dev. config it gives the same errors.
Hopefully someone is able to help me out.

I managed to "fix" the issue. Remove the File System Component responsible for deleting the files. Then add it again and configure it again.
I think this happens if you accidentally change General parameters before changing the Operation parameter. It holds the metadata to irrelevant parameters and upon execution says: "Wait, you defined this parameter but I don't need it, but I'm checking for it anyway, and it's not there!"

I get an error message when I try run my SSIS Package the error is:
[Flat File Source [1]] Error: The column delimiter for column "Column
8" was not found.
[Flat File Source [1]] Error: An error occurred while skipping data
rows.
[SSIS.Pipeline] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PRIMEOUTPUTFAILED. The PrimeOutput method on component "Flat File Source" (1) returned
error code 0xC0202091. The component returned a failure code when the
pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code
is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline
stopped executing. There may be error messages posted before this
with more information about the failure.
Most of the csv files load no problem but a handful of csv files don't and prior to that the package has been working fine for years.
Encountered this error too, turned out that its skipping data rows because my CSV file has missing columns. Try checking if the columns in your file is correct.
Possible Scenario would be Multiple CSV Files doesn't have the same structure (Column names
)
Similar to user2545231's answer (can't comment based on reputation), I solved this by clicking Reset Columns in the connection manager for the file I was trying to import.
I also came across the same error. Yet I got it resolved by checking the flat file sources. Make sure that there are no unnecessary spaces, verify delimiter used for eg: a comma,etc and also the data entry should be in sync with the first row. I hope it helps you out.
I found through our FTP configuration older files can hang in the SAN or the FTP and this can cause this error as well. Very frustrating.
Another possible source for this error is if you've created your system with a new version of an incoming file and then go back to import older ones and find the error ... check that all the fields are there! I discovered that for a few days "back then" three fields were missing, causing this error.
I have got the same error when I am processing a file.
In my case, the problem is the expected delimiter is TAB whereas the file that I have received was a comma(,) delimited file.
When I have correct the input file format, it has resolved the issue.
I had a task that involved reading files and skiping rows if a certain condition was true. The name of the column used in there was "Pxs" and the actual name in the files was "PXS". It is case sensitive, it couldn't find the column. Corrected to caps and it works fine now.
In my case, just deleted those data flow tasks, clean designer, recreated same.. mentioned error got resolved. Its Microsoft :(!

I have created a basic Data Flow tasks in SSIS 2008 that is reading information from a a basic text file and importing it into a database. The file is Delimited with lines ending with {CR}{LF} and each field separated by a Vertical Bar {|}.
I have verified each line ends with a {CR}{LF} in my file that I am importing, but for some reason it doesn't import the last line in the file. If there is only 1 line it is not imported into the database.
In the File Connection Manager is shows all lines in the preview, in my current case 5 lines. Also, in the preview in Flat File Source Editor it shows all 5 lines, but in the OLE DB Destination the preview only shows 4 lines. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks!
See the last answer at SSIS is dropping a record on flat file source import. Setting the flat file object TextQualified value to false for all of the columns fixed the issue for me.
Sometimes to read these files properly, there needs to be a carriage return at the end of the last line, effectively creating a blank line at the end.
If the file isn't supplied like this, then you may need a script component to modify it.
I believe this is a bug with SSIS. I tested it on two versions 10.0.5500.0 and 10.0.2531.0. This problem does occur in 10.0.5500.0 but does occur on the over version. To resolve the issue in older version I had to add an extra cr lf at the end of the file as well as setting the Text Qualified value to false as user1298950 wrote.
I was getting the same with SQL Server 2008 R2. After a lot of searching & hair pulling found that installing SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 cured the problem. Note that this bug is not part of the release notes for SP2 - but it sorts it out.
