I have an XMLList, I am trying to grab one from the list with a stone attribute == Opal but its not working, I don't understand why?
Here is the code:
var xml:XML = <bs><variation price="999999999.99" month="OCT" stone="Magic Pet Rock" image="https://www.sussexjewelers.com/birthstone_images/20_PE105-BT.png" style="PE105" gold_color="White" gold_carat="14"/>
<variation price="999999999.99" month="OCT" stone="Opal" image="https://www.sussexjewelers.com/birthstone_images/17_PE105-OP.png" style="PE105-OP" gold_color="Yellow" gold_carat="14"/>
<variation price="33212221.00" month="OCT" stone="Pink Tourmaline" image="https://www.sussexjewelers.com/birthstone_images/16_PE105-PT.png" style="PE105-PT" gold_color="Yellow" gold_carat="14"/></bs>;
var list:XMLList = xml.children();
trace(list) // returns all three variations
list = list.(#stone == 'Opal');
trace(list); // expecting to return the 2nd variation but actually returns nothing.
Can anyone see why this is not working as expected?
Thanks.
I postd this question right before I figured it out...I need to add toXMLString() when I trace it.
trace(list.toXMLString());

So I have a List and I am able to filter to find on it which works fine for reducing the list to what I am looking for.
However, let's say I just want to get back an array of numbers, not a List, back from my search, something like:
var found = campaignTimelineBoardTemplatesModels.map((campaignTime) => {
if (campaignTime.getId() == num)
return Math.random();
});
The problem is that found is now still a List, and 2, is that I have a undefined members in this List as it seems to hold the same size as my original List.
So Map didn't do it.
All I am trying to do is get back a simple list of pure numbers that match a condition back as a pure array.
Is it possible?
Thanks,
Sean
found it, magic of reduce:
var IDs = campaignTimelineBoardTemplatesModels.reduce((result,campaignTimelineBoardTemplatesModel: CampaignTimelineBoardTemplatesModel)=>{
if (campaignTimelineBoardTemplatesModel.getCampaignTimelineId() == i_campaign_timeline_id)
result.push(campaignTimelineBoardTemplatesModel.getCampaignTimelineId());
return result;
},[])
I'm reading XML and attaching values to objects in two seperate movieclips. Like this
Map01:
Marker01.name = hello there
Marker01.short = hel
Marker01.value = 12
Map02:
Marker02.name = hello there
Marker02.short = hel
Marker02.value = 99
Now I'm clicking on Marker01 in Map01 and get its name and value. I want to compare its value to that of Marker01 in Map02, using the name, or better yet .short because the names are long and use special characters/spaces. How do I do this? I've pretty much tried everything that seemed logical!
EDIT: sample code for clarification
var marker01:mc_marker = new mc_marker();
marker01.name="hello there";
marker01.short="abc";
marker01.val="99";
marker01.x=10;
marker01.y=10;
this.mc_map01.addChild(marker01);
var marker02:mc_marker = new mc_marker();
marker02.name="hello there";
marker02.short="abc";
marker02.val="20";
marker02.x=10;
marker02.y=10;
this.mc_map02.addChild(marker02);
marker01.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, showMarkerInfo);
marker02.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, showMarkerInfo);
function showMarkerInfo(event:MouseEvent):void {
txt_ms.text=event.target.short;
txt_mv.text=event.target.val;
if (event.target.short==mc_map02.marker02.short){
txt_mvi.text="here should be the marker02 value";
}
}
You have a typo there. Map02 use Marker1 things.
If its a typo in Stackoverflow,
this.getChildByName( "Marker01" ) will return you the movieclip, buy its name. take care though, as "name" is what it searches for. You used "hello there" when you should put Marker01 as the name. I would suggest you put a property called "data" and put the xml info in it so it doesn't conflict.
In the end you have:
if( this.getChildByName( "Marker01" ).data.value == this.getChildByName( "Marker02" ).data.value ).
I assume this is because you generate Marker0X at runtime and you can't declare some variables and use them directly.
Browny points if you make "data" a instance of a custom class where you can compare two "data". If you need more help, add a comment ^_^
Trying to display a set of images from uComponents' MNTP, and can't get a value for the umbracoFile property - in the example below, both umbracoFile and url return empty strings:
foreach (var id in #Model.sliders) {
var media = Model.MediaById(id.InnerText);
if (media != null){
var url = media.umbracoFile;
<p>name = #media.Name</p>
<p>alt = #media.altText</p>
<p>url = #media.umbracoFile</p>
<p>url = #url</p>
}
}
It's getting really really really annoying... I've worked around it in other areas like so, using Model.Media:
<img src="#Model.Media("topRightImage", "umbracoFile")" alt="#Model.Media("topightImage", "altText")" />
But that will only help if with the media picker data type, not mntp. It shouldnt' be that difficult, should it?
I can get the images to load if I rebuild the internal search index, but they're gone again on subsequent refreshes.
I've seen others having similar problems, and would really appreciate a solution...

This looks like a bug that was fixed in 4.7.2. See the following codeplex item:

I have got an array that consists of strings. I have made a function that searches the array based on the search term parameter. However, when i run the code it only ever outputs the string at index 0 of the array. I want it to return the corresponding url in the array when a search is run.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
So you are trying to return URL based on the String after the ~?
Do the line
arrayOfURL[i].toLowerCase().split('~')[i];
seem weird to you? Imagine as i increases, eg. i = 4
arrayOfURL[4].toLowerCase().split('~')[4];
Does that last [4] make sense?
I am guessing the reason it never got past the first element is because the code actually erroring out on that part.
I think what you want is (likewise for the return line, you'll want [0]
arrayOfURL[i].toLowerCase().split('~')[1];
I would also take a look at
if (z >= searchtoLower)
what are you trying to compare there?
The problem may be in the second i param:
var z = arrayOfURL[i].toLowerCase().split('~')[i];
The string will be splitted into 2 parts (index 0, 1). Why did you select part i?
This is a correct version of your program:
var arrayOfURL = [
"http://www.google.co.uk~Google is a search engine.",
"http://www.yahoo.co.uk~Yahoo is another search engine.",
"http://bing.com~Bing is a decision engine."
];
function findURL(arrayOfURL,search)
{
var searchtoLower = search.toLowerCase();
for (var i = 0; i < arrayOfURL.length; i++)
{
var z = arrayOfURL[i].toLowerCase().split('~')[1];
if (z.indexOf(searchtoLower) != -1)
return arrayOfURL[i];
}
return "Nothing Found!";
}
findURL(arrayOfURL,"decision")
I hope it can help you.
I think you should be doing
var terms = arrayOfURL[i].toLowerCase().split('~');
if(0 <= terms[1].indexOf(searchToLower))
// ^ ^
// | |-- 0 <= indexOf method determines
// | if searchToLower is a substring of terms[1]
// |
// |-- term[1] gets the part after the first "~"
and
return terms[0]; //terms[0] is the part before the first "~"
I would also consider returning null or the empty string "" in case of failure (instead of returning the arbritrary "Nothing Found!" message)
I m just starting with microsoft (MVC,C#, LINQ), so far so good, but i have a question about LINQ uses, How do i get the value form a LINQ like this one?
var x = from a in db.tablex
where a.eventID == eventID
select new
{
owner = a.owner,
shipper = a.shipper,
consignee = a.consignee
};
I try something like "r.owner" inside a foreach to get the value retrieved from DB
foreach (var r in x)
but its not working.. i dont get intellisense either.. how do i get the value??. I saw several examples and it seems to work like this, but for some reason its not working.. Thanks
Ok guys here was the thing, (it wasnt the typo it was just in the post), i was missing a using :
using System.Reflection;
with this C# automatically creates a class from them, and now it works
What a noob of me =).
foreach (var r in x)
{
var owner = r.owner;// not x.owner
}
