MariaDB connection fails randomly but stady - junit

I'm running my junit tests in Ubuntu 20 TLS in Eclipse.
Setup:
mariadb in docker container with testcontainers.org
Spring 5 Application in embedded jetty (for junit tests only)
I was wondering why my embedded jetty runs into failures with connectivity to the database:
Caused by: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
I analysed this for days (and nights :( ) ... nothing found.
So I wrote a test harness to find out, whether the testcontainers setup could be a problem, and - unfortunately - it seems to be:
If i try to connect, call a statement, disconnect and repeat this, mariadb in container seems to refuse the connection after a while.

Statement stmt = connection.createStatement();

connection.close();
for (int i = 0; i < 10000000; i++) {

System.err.println("Connect " + i + "...");

connection = DriverManager.getConnection(mariaDB.getJdbcUrl(), "test", "test");

It seems to be not a timeout problem - in some cases the test runs for some seconds, and some times it runs for hours, BUT: it happens always
Any ideas, how to solve this?
Thanx in advice !
[update]: when trying to connect to the mariadb after the error occured, the connection is established again.

Receiving a CommunicationsException using Spring Data JPA and mysql database

on a project i am importing data from an oracle database into a mysql database.
The import is working fine.
I user hibernate envers to track changes on a specific field of an entity.
However, if i try to request the stored data via a rest endpoint (controller -> service -> repository) i receive a exception.
If i call the endpoint on a daily basis, the application works fine. But if the the endpoint is not triggered e.g. over the weekend, then the application fails.
Following the dependencies i am using in the project:
<parent>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-parent</artifactId>
<version>2.0.1.RELEASE</version>
<relativePath/>
</parent>

The application properties for the mysql database connection:
spring:

password: password
initialize-mode: never
jpa:
open-in-view: false
database-platform: org.hibernate.dialect.MySQL5Dialect
liquibase:
change-log: classpath:/db/changelog/changelog-master.xml
The configuration of the primary database, I am using the default hikari connection pool.
#SpringBootApplication
#EnableScheduling
public class MyApplication {
public static void main(String[] args) {
SpringApplication.run(MyApplication.class, args);

return primaryDataSourceProperties()

.build();
}
#Bean

public JdbcTemplate primaryJdbcTemplate() {

}
The following exception do i receive, if the application was not called over a longer period:
2018-09-17T11:50:11.639708697Z com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.CommunicationsException: The last packet successfully received from the server was 271,547,086 milliseconds ago. The last packet sent successfully to the server was 271,547,087 milliseconds ago. is longer than the server configured value of 'wait_timeout'. You should consider either expiring and/or testing connection validity before use in your application, increasing the server configured values for client timeouts, or using the Connector/J connection property 'autoReconnect=true' to avoid this problem.

Maybe someone has any idea, why the connection to the database gets invalid.
Here are the settings of the hikari

i expected the issue at the wrong part of my application. I configured the envers AuditReader as spring bean and injected a entity manager. The entity manager holds a database connection that breaks when the database is closing the connection after the configured timeout.
#Configuration
#RequiredArgsConstructor
public class AuditConfiguration {
private final EntityManagerFactory entityManagerFactory;
#Bean
public AuditReader auditReader() {
return AuditReaderFactory.get(entityManagerFactory.createEntityManager());
}
}
So i removed this configuration and create a entity manager for every request to the audit reader.
#Component
#RequiredArgsConstructor
public class AuditService {
private final EntityManagerFactory entityManagerFactory;
public int getLatestRevision() {
return AuditReaderFactory.get(entityManagerFactory.createEntityManager())
.getRevisionNumberForDate(from(now()))
.intValue();
}
}
With this setup hikari is handling the database connections correct and the exception does not occur anymore.
Use jdbc url as below , while making connection:
url: jdbc:mysql://servername:3306/schema?autoReconnect=true

When I run the application inside IntelliJ it works fine, this error throws only after I built and run through cmd: < java -cp "myproject.jar" com.MyProject >
My main and entity classes are well annotated and the mysql server is up.
The build config from IntelliJ:
I looked into myproject.jar file and the mysql jar was nor loaded. How can I build my jar with mysql jar already included?
Try
<dependency>
<groupId>mysql</groupId>
<artifactId>mysql-connector-java</artifactId>
<scope>runtime</scope>
</dependency>
The default scope for maven dependencies is compile, hence jar won't be available at runtime.

Tomcat 8, HikariCP, Hibernate and MySQL

Using a Connection Pool
I am using a Hikari Connection Pool to interact with the MySQl database backend in a Java based Web project. I decided to upgrade the library versions to their most recent stable versions and now I cannot connect to the database anymore.
Java 8
MySQL 5.7
Tomcat 8
Dependencies
I use the following Maven dependencies:
<dependency>
<groupId>com.zaxxer</groupId>
<artifactId>HikariCP</artifactId>
<version>2.4.5</version>
<scope>compile</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-hikaricp</artifactId>
<version>5.2.0.Final</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-core</artifactId>
<version>5.2.0.Final</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-envers</artifactId>
<version>5.2.0.Final</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>mysql</groupId>
<artifactId>mysql-connector-java</artifactId>
<version>6.0.2</version>
</dependency>
Hibernate
The project compiles fine, no libraries are missing. This is my hibernate configuration file:
<session-factory>
<property name="hibernate.connection.provider_class">com.zaxxer.hikari.hibernate.HikariConnectionProvider</property>
<property name="hibernate.hikari.dataSourceClassName">com.mysql.jdbc.jdbc2.optional.MysqlDataSource</property>
<property name="hibernate.hikari.dataSource.url">jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/CitationUserDB?useSSL=false</property>
<property name="hibernate.hikari.dataSource.user">dbUser</property>
<property name="hibernate.hikari.dataSource.password">vErYsEcReT</property>
<property name="hibernate.hikari.dataSource.cachePrepStmts">true</property>
<property name="hibernate.hikari.dataSource.prepStmtCacheSize">250</property>
<property name="hibernate.hikari.dataSource.prepStmtCacheSqlLimit">2048</property>
<property name="hibernate.hikari.dataSource.useServerPrepStmts">true</property>
<mapping class="Database.Authentication.User"/>
</session-factory>
SessionFactory
I use this Hibernate Util class to get the session object.
import org.hibernate.SessionFactory;
import org.hibernate.boot.registry.StandardServiceRegistryBuilder;
import org.hibernate.cfg.Configuration;
import org.hibernate.service.ServiceRegistry;
/**
* Hibernate session management
*/
public class HibernateUtilUserAuthentication {
private static SessionFactory sessionFactory;
public static SessionFactory getSessionFactory() {
if (sessionFactory == null) {
// loads configuration and mappings
Configuration configuration = new Configuration().configure("hibernate.userauthentication.cfg.xml");
ServiceRegistry serviceRegistry
= new StandardServiceRegistryBuilder()
.applySettings(configuration.getProperties()).build();
// builds a session factory from the service registry
sessionFactory = configuration.buildSessionFactory(serviceRegistry);
}
return sessionFactory;
}
}
Error
The following error is thrown, when the first database access happens in the source code. There seems to be a problem with the claspath, but all required libraries are there and I can see them in IntelliJ.

But the library is there:
It is copied to Tomcat during deployment:
./webapps/Testapplication/WEB-INF/lib/mysql-connector-java-6.0.2.jar
I have no idea why the JDBC MySQL driver cannot be found. Any help is really appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
The package structure has changed in mysql-connector-java-6. Switch to mysql-connector-java-5.x

Unable to get Web App to work with mysql 5.1 and wildfly 10

I created a simple mvn webapp in netbeans and got it to work with h2. But I'm unable to get it to work with mysql as a datasource.
I've deployed the mysql 5.1.38 connector to Wildfly and it deploys and connects fine. I've added mysql to my persistence.xml as shown below. But it won't connect. I can connect to mysql in wildfly, mysql client, and within the services tab in wildfly.
After a lot of effort and research, I'm kind of lost.
