Trying to implement favicon in Parallels Desktop - html

I am creating a website. I have tried to add a favicon. I have created a folder in Visual Studio in the Solutions Explorer named images and placed my image named "KS-final.png" in it. It did not work so I added another folder in the Project folder in which my solution is saved, named it images. The file path is \Mac\Home\Documents\Visual Studio 2015\Projects\WebSite1 and I have tried that as well. Should I even make a website on a Macbook using Parallels at this point? Seems a bit complicated, rather just go the full PC route. Thank you!
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>My Portfolio</title>
<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/png" href="imaages/KS-final.png">
<meta charset="utf-8" />
</head>
<body>
This is the content of the document
</body>
</html>

This answer is based on my comment, which helped resolve the issue.
There is a typo in href="imaages/KS-final.png", but that may not be the only thing causing the issue.
Visual Studio in a virtual machine is a relatively complex environment. That makes it hard to understand what's going wrong as a beginner. Try using a plain text editor (Visual Studio Code, Sublime, Atom etc.) on Mac OS directly. That's all you need to make a static HTML/CSS/JS website.

How do I put the favicon on my demo website on Safari LiveServer?

Hope you're all well.
Recently, I started coding in visual studio code as I'll be changing my career to software development, and as I began with HTML and CSS, I stumbled upon a couple of issues.
The most irritating one so far is a favicon issue. I've done everything I can and favicon still won't show up on my demo website. I even cleared the cache, checked the route path before writing the code, but nothing would help.
I saved the favicon image in the folder named "images" in my main folder called VSCodeTraining. I put the following line under the <head></head> and still nothing happens:
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="images/favicon.png" type="image/png">
As I am working on a Mac, is there maybe something to do with the fact I'm not importing it from the Mac's main folder?
Thanks for your help in advance and sorry for the stupid question.

Why doesn't my css file properly link to my html file?

So I've been creating a project on my localhost server for the first time using wamp (I've only coded html/css/js in repl.it before this) and for some reason, my css will not
stay on my page. When I try changing styles using my CSS file, it shows up when I refresh, but then very quickly disappears. The following pictures represent this (NOTE: I had to record and slow down the refresh just to see that it did change):
this appears right after refreshing
milliseconds later, the CSS no longer does anything
The following code is the link to the css in my html file (have some other script tags in there as well):
<html>
<head>
<title>Home Page</title>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/bootstrap.min.css" />
<script src="js/bootstrap-icons.min.js"></script>
<script src="js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<link href="/PHP-Login-System/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
</head>
<body>
An image of directory tree (trying to link style.css with index.php):
directory tree
As far as I know, since my styling does show up for a brief moment, I don't think the error could be in my linking between the files, but I could be wrong. Any comments are appreciated.
Everything looks good to me, I think the problem is coming from wamp server, because like you said, your css styles is showing up and disappearing.
My advice is:
Uninstall wamp total , download a fresh copy from the internet.
Restart your computer, then reinstall the new copy you downloaded

Chrome is downloading HTML files instead of displaying them

I need some help. I decided to create a home FTP server for my family. I hit a roadblock a few hours ago. When I was creating my home page, I wanted to test it in Chrome. I linked a css file to it aswell. I expected to see the test webpage, which was a h1 with the text hello. What actually happened was the fact that it downloaded my html file, and when I opened that in Chrome, I saw my page without the css. I've tried everything to speak of on this site and I even checked page 2 of Google. Here's my code, I'm running FTP on IIS 10.
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
<title>Home</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="main.css">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html">
</head>
<body>
<h1>Hello!</h1>
</body>
</html>
As far as I know, chrome download the html page is right. Since you use chrome to access a ftp file, it is not a http connection to the server. The chrome will not directly show it.
If you want to show the html page in the browser, you should use IIS website instead of ftp site.
More details about how to create a IIS web site, you could refer to below article.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/help/323972/how-to-set-up-your-first-iis-web-site
i guess you are putting it in a wrong format
as https://www.w3schools.com/css/css_howto.asp says
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="mystyle.css">

CSS stylesheet not responding working with chrome

I recently started my first program (very basic) and I ran into an issue immediately!
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="gweeble.css" />
Using the code above, I attempted to attach a css stylesheet. In order to make sure it wasn't just me, I copy pasted the code from an example. And to make sure that the CSS was right, I put it in a style tag in the head of my HTML file... it worked. Next, I entered the dev tools in chrome (the browser I'm using. This is on a Chromebook using the caret editor) and the css file wasn't even there!!! If you have any ideas, I really need help!
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="gweeble.css" />
<title>gweeble</title>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<meta name="description" content="uhhhh">
<meta name="keywords" content="google, grooble, gweeble, bored, I'm bored, Im bored, ugh, uhhh">
<meta name="author" content="">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">
</head>
<body>
</body>
body {
background-color: #4542f4; }
ANOTHER SOLUTION!!!!
Here's another reason why browsers may fail to load your css file....
I've read all the responses here (and on several other sites) but was still failing to have my apparently valid css file loading into my browser (as confirmed using the inspector - right-click over code in Chrome and look at 'sources' tab).
I usually use Chrome but also tried Edge with same results - html5 code ran fine but the layout was not being rendered. Inspection showed that css file was never loaded, never mind executed.
My issue turned out to be that the html code had been copied from on-screen tutorials and pasted into Notepad ++. In the process, I ended up with the wrong speech (") marks, so my guess is that the 'meta charset="utf-8"' statement
was inconsistent with the type of speechmark in the code?
Bottom line is that changing all the speechmarks by simply deleting and then re-typing resulted in a physically different shape of speechmark and working code.
Hope this was helpful....
Are you really sure you are viewing the correct HTML file? You can also check the page source (CTRL + U) to check the markup in your document.
This is usually because of a bad link in the <link> element. Are your HTML and CSS files at the same level in the file structure? If you need to go back up a level you may need to do href="./gweeble.css" Also try doing a hard refresh of your browser (hold the shift key down and click the refresh button if you're using Chrome) to clear the cache. Oh and double check the spelling of the CSS file name to ensure it is a correct match.
I figured it out! My computer was set to auto put my files into a google drive section ☹️. The problem was fixed by simply moving the folder to downloads.
In case you are using node.js, express, and EJS as templating engines
I just found this error on my website and looked here.
The problem I faced is
if you have a CSS file in your public directory i.e. views(in my case)
Note: You can access your CSS file from Browser Dev tools.
Using Chrome, go to Network in dev. section, and then click on CSS file. And check headers.
Make sure when you link any CSS file without any error of
type : "text/css"
Correct href = ""
Now, if you still can't access it,
so the problem may be that your browser may not be accessing the file correctly. Check the path where it should be, and where you had placed.
In my case: localhost:3000/views/css/style.css throws an error
But The actual link should be: localhost:3000/css/style.css worked
So change the href accordingly, and remove extra folders coming between so that your browser can access it directly.

Bootstrap CSS not loading

I've been experimenting with Twitter Bootstrap and have run into a problem I cannot resolve. Basically, I have a very simple HTML file (based on the beginning of this tutorial: http://www.sitepoint.com/understanding-twitter-bootstrap-3/ ) and I can open the file, but it is not loading the CSS.
I've tried this locally as well as from my web server and in both instances, the CSS does not load. This tutorial has some errors on where quotes go which I've fixed, but I've had the same problems with another tutorial.
index.html is located in the same folder as the CSS folder.
Here is my HTML:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Bootstrap 101 Template</title>
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">
<!-- Bootstrap -->
<link href="css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen">
</head>
<body>
<h1>Hello, world!</h1>
<script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery.js"></script>
<script src="js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
</body>
</html>
Please for the love of God help me before I destroy my Macbook.
Try using bootstrap.css instead of bootstrap.min.css. Also, make sure that it's in the correct path.
Another thing you can try as well is using media="all" instead of media="screen" in your link specifications.
Your javascript link tag for jQuery looks suspicious. Either give a relative path on your local directory, or the absolute path to an external url.
I had the same problem but it was unique, not sure if other had the same issue. I had "rel=" before the "href=". Just swapping the places, i.e. "href=" before "rel=" resolved the issue.
Thanks a ton for the correct syntax.
I followed below steps to load or apply Boostrap css.
first check bootstrap available in node_modules?
If you don't see, Install bootstrap with below command
npm i bootstrap
After installation successful, verfiy again boostrap in node_modules.
enter image description here
next open your project styles.css file and import below line.
#import '~bootstrap/dist/css/bootstrap.css';
when you upload the bootstrap files to your hosting, make sure to upload ALL the files even the .map files. I did that and it worked for me.
I had the same problem and I solved it.
open your file in windows notepad, choose save_as > Beside the Save button , open Encoding dropdown and choose UTF-8 !
my file was saved in Unicode Encoding.
I used windows notepad to save-as my file in a UTF-8 Encoding and the issue was gone.
you may also use notepad++ to change the encoding of a file.
good luck
I found this answer because it was the top google search yet I had this problem for a completely different reason.
For those who might have made the same mistake I have, remember to add
<link href="css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen">
or some reference to another version of bootstrap so that your code knows where to get all the bootstrap related information
Sounds like this is just a simple directory issue.
You are saying you have the HTML file and the CSS file in the same folder right?
Then to load the file link it like this:
<link href="bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" media="all">
Else
If your css file is in a "css" folder then change the directory to:
<link href="css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" media="all">
If worse comes to worse use the external link instead for troubleshooting:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.0.0-alpha.6/css/bootstrap.min.css">
