I would like to use fontawesome icons. I have the following webcomponent but icons are not shown:
<link rel="import" href="../../bower_components/polymer/polymer-element.html">
<script defer src="https://use.fontawesome.com/releases/v5.0.6/js/all.js"></script>
<dom-module id="mi-icono">
<template>
<i class="fas fa-address-card"></i>
<i class="fas fa-trash-alt"></i>
</template>
<script>
/**
* #customElement
* #polymer
*/
class MiIcono extends Polymer.Element {
static get is() { return 'mi-icono'; }
static get properties() {
return {};
}
}
window.customElements.define(MiIcono.is, MiIcono);
</script>
</dom-module>
Anyone knows why icons are not shown?
First, create a style import file: (import.html)
<link rel="import" href="../../bower_components/polymer/polymer-element.html">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/fa-regular.min.css">
<dom-module id="font-awesome">
<template>
<style>
<!-- TODO: Paste contents of fontawesome-all.css here! -->
<!-- TODO: Update paths in pasted content to match directory structure -->
<!-- Would be awesome to use #import here but it doesn't work? -->
</style>
</template>
</dom-module>
Now you can import the file in your application:
<link rel="import" href="../../lib/fontawesome-5.0.6/import.html">
Be sure to include the import anywhere you want to use the icons:
<dom-module id="my-super-cool-polymer-app">
<template>
<style include="font-awesome">
<!-- etc -->
looks like the font-awesome.css gets loaded outside your element, so the shadow dom then hides is so that no document-level CSS can style it.
What works for me in polymer 2 and font-awesome 4.7, is to include the css inside the dom-module:
<dom-module id="demo">
<!-- this is deprecated but still works in v2:
https://www.polymer-project.org/2.0/docs/devguide/style-shadow-dom#external-stylesheets-->
<link rel="import" type="css" href="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/font-awesome/4.7.0/css/font-awesome.css">
<template>
<i class="fa fa-caret-up"></i>
</template>
</dom-module>
Just tested it and works fine in IE (11+), FF, Safari 11, Chrome v53-, but as of Chrome v54 the caret is not properly rendered:
This works ok in Chrome when font-awesome.css is also included in the main document?!

I have been having problems with my Polymer 2 app, I first through it was the routing but I found that after hitting this page and the Dom-if fires when navigating back to the page it is not re-firing.
EG,
If I am on url/matters/6719 it displays the details page, but if I click the back button and go to url/matters the dom-if is not being hit again and its still showing me the details page,
It also happens when using my navigation selector which is set up like the PWA starter kit.

<app-route route="{{subroute}}" pattern="/matparties/:this_page" data="{{pageData}}"></app-route>
</app-route>
<div class="card">
<template is="dom-if" if="[[_subidIsDefined(pageData.this_page)]]">
<matparty-list linkedmatpartyid="[[pageData.this_page]]"></matparty-list>

<template is="dom-if" if="[[!_subidIsDefined(pageData.this_page)]]">

class Matters extends Polymer.Element {
static get is() { return 'my-matters'; }
_subidIsDefined(subid) {
//There are probably ways to optimize this
if (subid) {
return true;
}
return false;
}
_idIsDefined(id) {

if (id) {
return true;

return false;

}
window.customElements.define(Matters.is, Matters);
</script>
</dom-module>
have you checked the pattern? Normally the pattern should respect the url pattern.... in your case "url/matters/6719"
Since you have defined the pattern="/matparties/:this_page" on the router and matparties is != 'matters' in 'url/matters/6719' that could generate the error. I don't know if you have defined a base url that generate also some issues on this regards.
So the url should be matparties/6719 to match the pattern and resolve into the dom-if
I would like to apply some stylesheets dynamically using Polymer. The scenario is like this:
<link rel="import" href="themes/red.styles.html" />
<link rel="import" href="themes/indigo.styles.html" />
<dom-module>
<style include="indigo-styles">
<template>
<div class="header">Header</div>
<button on-click="_toggleStylesheet"></button>
</template>
</dom-module>
<script>
Polymer({
_toggleStylesheet: function () {
// remove indigo-styles and apply red-styles and so on
}
})
</script>
Does anyone know how can this be achieved in Polymer?
Thank you in advance!
Use this.updateStyles to change the style of a Polymer.Element.
Use Polymer.updateStyles to apply a change globally:
Polymer.updateStyles({
'--property-one': 'var(--paper-red-900)',
'--property-two': 'var(--paper-indigo-500)',
...
'--property-whatever': 'etc'
})
I'm having troubles with the following small self contained polymer example for databinding.
My understanding is that by having the consumer and supplier both have an attributes with data, with the expression {{stuff}} passed in, that this is referring to the variable "stuff", in the scope of the element.
When the supplier is loaded, and ready, it should populate the stuff variable, causing the consumer to insert the data.

Polymer('supplier', {

You have an amount of glitches within your code. I will drop comments around the problems to be fixed:

<script src="http://www.polymer-project.org/components/webcomponentsjs/webcomponents.js"></script>

</head>
<body>
<!-- noscript tags are mandatory for elements not having script declared -->
<!-- ⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓ -->
<polymer-element name="my-consumer" attributes="data" noscript>
<!-- when you need to output data, output it -->
<!-- ⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓ -->
<template>{{data}}</template>
</polymer-element>
<!-- names MUST include hyphens (everywhere) -->
<!-- ⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓ -->
<polymer-element name="my-supplier" attributes="data">
<template></template>
<script>
// As of 0.5 you don’t need to specify name in script
// ⇓⇓⇓⇓
Polymer({
ready: function(){
this.data = "test"
}
});

</polymer-element>
<polymer-element name = "my-root" noscript>

<my-consumer data="{{stuff}}"></my-consumer>
</template>
</polymer-element>
<my-root>
</my-root>
</body>
</html>
The corrected version works as expected: http://jsbin.com/zewimobaro/1/edit
I am trying to use data binding through attributes on Polymer but I'm just going from failure to failure. I tried many syntax to send my JSON but nothing seems to work... Can I ask a little bit of help to see and understand what i was doing wrong ?
Thanks in advance,
Here is my HTML code :

<link rel="import" href="social-nav.html">
</head>
<body>
<social-nav social='[{"twitter":"#cyberwarfighte1"}]'></social-nav>
</body>
</html>
And here is my polymer element :
<polymer-element name="social-nav" attributes="social">
<template>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://netdna.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.0.3/css/font-awesome.min.css" media="screen" type="text/css" />
<div class="social-icons">
{{social}}
<template repeat="{{k in social}}">
{{k}}
</template>
</div>
</template>
<script>
Polymer('social-nav', {
});
</script>
</polymer-element>
Well, I found a way to solve my problem by myself.
For anyone who have the same problem than me, the answer is that your attribute need to be declared as an object inside the polymer element.
Here is my fixed code :
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://netdna.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.0.3/css/font-awesome.min.css" media="screen" type="text/css" />
<polymer-element name="social-nav" attributes="social">
<template>
<div class="social-icons">
<template repeat="{{k in social}}">
<a class="{{k.social}}" href="{{k.link}}"><i>{{k.social}}</i></a>
</template>
</div>
</template>
<script>
Polymer('social-nav', {
created: function(){
this.social = []; // <- HERE !!
}
});
</script>
</polymer-element>
And my fixed element call with the good JSON
<social-nav social="[{'social':'twitter','link':'http://twitter.com/cyberwarfighte1'}, {'social':'facebook','link':'http://facebook.com/samuel.cardillo.5'}]"></social-nav>
Hope it can help someone :)
I tried to extend a <button>, but so far did not succeed.
What am I doing wrong. I'm using the Dart Editor+SDK 1.5.2
In pubspec.yaml the version for Polymer is set to:
polymer: ">=0.11.0 <0.12.0"
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<!-- <script src="packages/web_components/platform.js"></script>
not necessary anymore with Polymer >= 0.14.0 -->
<script src="packages/web_components/dart_support.js"></script>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<title>Extended Button - Dart v1.5.2</title>
<!--Extended Button-->
<link rel="import" href="view/ext_button.html" />
</head>
<body>
<button is="ext-button">Test Button</button>
<script type="application/dart">export "package:polymer/init.dart";</script>
</body>
</html>
view/ext_button.dart
import "dart:html";
import "package:polymer/polymer.dart";
#CustomTag("ext-button")
class ExtButton extends ButtonElement {
ExtButton.created() : super.created();
factory ExtButton(){
onClick.listen(clicked);
}
void clicked(MouseEvent e){
print("Ext-Button clicked");
}
}
view/ext_button.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<link rel="import" href="packages/polymer/polymer.html">
<polymer-element name="ext-button" extends="button">
<template>
</template>
<script type="application/dart" src="ext_button.dart"></script>
</polymer-element>
So the code above does not work, but as soon as write it like below (just to validate the ext-button works) it tells me the following:
"web/index.html:20:7: custom element "ext-button" extends from "button", but this tag will not include the default properties of "button".
To fix this, either write this tag as <button is="ext-button"> or remove the "extends" attribute from the custom element declaration."
<ext-button>Test Button</ext-button>
So a little bit confused ;-) I think the fix is easy and simple - but I just don't see the problem ;-(
Just for further references, the two things above solved the problem.
Here are the updated parts, now it works.
view/ext_button.dart
import "dart:html";
import "package:polymer/polymer.dart";
#CustomTag("ext-button")
class ExtButton extends ButtonElement with Polymer {
ExtButton.created() : super.created()
{
polymerCreated();
onClick.listen(clicked);
}
void clicked(MouseEvent e){
print("Ext-Button clicked");
}
}
view/ext_button.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<link rel="import" href="packages/polymer/polymer.html">
<polymer-element name="ext-button" extends="button">
<template>
<content></content>
</template>
<script type="application/dart" src="ext_button.dart"></script>
</polymer-element>
As far as I see, you are missing thwo things:
a call to polymerCreated() inside the custom elements constructor.
and extends ButtonElement with Polymer
There are already similar question. I'll look them up later when I have more time. Maybe you find them yourself in the meantime. Please add a comment with a link if you do.
