I want to read the values from below sample Json response
"items": [
{
"kind": "books#volume",
"id": "nwy8akU-nJUC",
"volumeInfo": {
"title": "Light In August",
"authors": ["William Faulkner"],
"publisher": "Random House",
"publishedDate": "2013-07-05",
"pageCount": 384,
"categories": ["Fiction"]
},
"saleInfo": {
"country": "IN",
"saleability": "FOR_SALE",
"isEbook": true,
"listPrice": {
"amount": 339.0,
"currencyCode": "INR"
}
}
}
]
When I read the response and iterate in a loop as an array, amount & currencyCode keys are missing in the second result thus its totally ignored in the array. Please help me as to how to loop through the key and identify if the key is not there then set value null.
I have written a below sample code
testRunner.runTestStepByName("Volumes1")
def responseContent = context.testCase.getTestStepByName("Volumes1").getProperty("response").value
JsonSlurper jsonResponseContent = new JsonSlurper()
def jsonResponseObject = jsonResponseContent.parseText(responseText)
titleCount = jsonResponseObject.items.volumeInfo.title.size
arrayTitle = jsonResponseObject.items.volumeInfo.title
arrayAuthor = jsonResponseObject.items.volumeInfo.authors
arrayPublisher = jsonResponseObject.items.volumeInfo.publisher
arrayPublishDate = jsonResponseObject.items.volumeInfo.publishedDate
arrayPageCount = jsonResponseObject.items.volumeInfo.pageCount
arrayCategories = jsonResponseObject.items.volumeInfo.categories
arrayAmount = jsonResponseObject.items.saleInfo.listPrice.amount
arrayCurrencyCode = jsonResponseObject.items.saleInfo.listPrice.currencyCode
Try:
arrayAmount = jsonResponseObject.items.saleInfo?.listPrice?.amount
arrayCurrencyCode = jsonResponseObject.items.saleInfo?.listPrice?.currencyCode
println "list price amount : ${arrayAmount}"
println "list price currency code : ${arrayCurrencyCode}"
The above uses null safe. Refer here for more details.

I have captured two sets of values by using JSON extractor in JMeter which I want to concatenate. Let me give you an example below for the format which I want to use.
The following are the two sets of captured values:
Set 1: [V2520 V2522 V2521 V2500 V2500]
Set 2: [PL PL PL NP NP]
So from the above sets, I am looking for the something like the following value, because the body which I have to send in a subsequent call contains the combination of these 2 values:
Answer: ["V2520PL", "V2522PL", "V2521PL", "V2500NP", "V2500NP"]
Can you please help me how to solve this in JMeter using Groovy?
This is the JSON I have:
{ "body": {
"responseObject": [
{
"benefitInfo": [
{
"procedureCode": "V2520",
"modifier": "PL",
"usage": "Dress",
"authorizationID": null,
"description": "ContactLensDisposable",
"id": "96",
"coPayAmount": "25"
},
{
"procedureCode": "V2522",
"modifier": "PL",
"usage": "Dress",
"authorizationID": null,
"description": "ContactLensDisposableBifocal",
"id": "98",
"coPayAmount": "25"
},
{
"procedureCode": "V2521",
"modifier": "PL",
"usage": "Dress",
"authorizationID": null,
"description": "ContactLensDisposableToric",
"id": "97",
"coPayAmount": "25"
},
{
"procedureCode": "V2500",
"modifier": "NP",
"usage": "Dress",
"authorizationID": null,
"description": "ContactLens (Non Plan)",
"id": "89",
"coPayAmount": "0"
},
{
"procedureCode": "V2500",
"modifier": "NP",
"usage": "Dress",
"authorizationID": null,
"description": "ContactLensConventional (Non Plan)",
"id": "157",
"coPayAmount": "0"
}
]
}
]}}
An easy way to do this is to combine them as you collect the values from the JSON when you parse it.
def json = new groovy.json.JsonSlurper().parseText(text)
def answer = json.body.responseObject[0].benefitInfo.collect { it.procedureCode + it.modifier }
assert answer == ["V2520PL", "V2522PL", "V2521PL", "V2500NP", "V2500NP"]
Another method would be to use transpose() and join():
def r = new groovy.json.JsonSlurper().parseText(text).body.responseObject.benefitInfo[0]
def answer = [r.procedureCode, r.modifier].transpose()*.join()
assert answer == ["V2520PL", "V2522PL", "V2521PL", "V2500NP", "V2500NP"]
Add JSR223 PostProcessor as a child of the request which returns the above JSON
Put the following code into "Script" area:
def answer = []
def benefitInfos = com.jayway.jsonpath.JsonPath.read(prev.getResponseDataAsString(), '$..benefitInfo')
benefitInfos.each { benefitInfo ->
benefitInfo.each { entry ->
answer.add(entry.get('procedureCode') + entry.get('modifier'))
}
}
vars.put('answer', new groovy.json.JsonBuilder(answer).toPrettyString())
That's it, you will be able to access generated value as ${answer} where required:

Lets say I have the following JSON :-
{
"book": [
{
"id": "01",
"language": "Java",
"edition": "third",
"author": "Herbert Schildt"
},
{
"id": "07",
"language": "C++",
"edition": "second",
"author": "E.Balagurusamy"
}
]
}
And, I am passing the value of author from excel sheet to check if that author is present or not. If that author is present inside JSON, then that that particular array node only and remove other from the JSON.
For Example:- I am passing "author" value as "Herbert Schildt" from excel sheet. Now this value is present inside JSON, So, I need this particular array node to be printed and rest all should be removed. Like this:-
{
"book": [
{
"id": "01",
"language": "Java",
"edition": "third",
"author": "Herbert Schildt"
}
]
}
Can it be done using groovy? I have tried with HashMap but couldn't get through.
It's quite easy using groovy:
def text = '''{
"book": [
{
"id": "01",
"language": "Java",
"edition": "third",
"author": "Herbert Schildt"
},
{
"id": "07",
"language": "C++",
"edition": "second",
"author": "E.Balagurusamy"
}
]
}
'''
def result = groovy.json.JsonOutput.toJson(
[book: new groovy.json.JsonSlurper().parseText(text).book.findAll{it.author == "Herbert Schildt"}]
)
println result
You may try this ways json search
var json = '{"book":[{"id":"01","language":"Java","edition":"third","author":"Herbert Schildt"},{"id":"07","language":"C++","edition":"second","author":"E.Balagurusamy"}]}';
var parsed = JSON.parse(json);
var result = {};
result.book = [];
var author = "Herbert Schildt";
parsed.book.map((i, j) => {
if(i.author == author) {
result.book.push(i);
}
});
console.log(result)
I have a JSON document pulled back from a support system API. With my code, I want to pull out the pre-configured fields dynamically, presuming that the JSON may have more or fewer of the desired fields when my program calls the API.
I have some code that works, though it seems very convoluted and inefficient.
Here is a snippet of the pieces of JSON that I'm interested in:
{
"rows": [
{
"assignee_id": 1,
"created": "2017-01-25T14:13:19Z",
"custom_fields": [],
"fields": [],
"group_id": 2468,
"priority": "Low",
"requester_id": 2,
"status": "Open",
"subject": "Support request",
"ticket": {
"description": "Ticket descritpion",
"id": 1000,
"last_comment": {
"author_id": 2,
"body": "Arbitrary text",
"created_at": "2017-02-09T14:21:38Z",
"public": false
},
"priority": "low",
"status": "open",
"subject": "Support request",
"type": "incident",
"url": "Arbitrary URL"
},
"updated": "2017-02-09T14:21:38Z",
"updated_by_type": "Agent"
},
{
"assignee_id": 1,
"created": "2017-02-09T14:00:18Z",
"custom_fields": [],
"fields": [],
"group_id": 3579,
"priority": "Normal",
"requester_id": 15,
"status": "Open",
"subject": "Change request",
"ticket": {
"description": "I want to change this...",
"id": 1001,
"last_comment": {
"author_id": 20,
"body": "I want to change the CSS on my website",
"created_at": "2017-02-09T14:12:12Z",
"public": true
},
"priority": "normal",
"status": "open",
"subject": "Change request",
"type": "incident",

"updated_by_type": "Agent"
}
]
}
I have an ArrayList called wantedFields that I build up from a config to define which information I want to pull out from the JSON:
["id","subject","requester_id","status","priority","updated","url"]
The complexity is that data is replicated in the API, and I only want to pull out data once, with a preference for the data in "rows" where applicable. My method for doing this is below. It feels like I'm repeating code but I can't really see how to make this work more efficiently. The JSON is held as "viewAsJson".
def ArrayList<Map<String,Object>> assignConfiguredFields(viewAsJson, wantedFields) {
//Pull out configured fields from JSON and store as Map to write as CSV later
ArrayList<Map<String,Object>> listOfDataToWrite = new ArrayList<Map<String,Object>>()
ArrayList<String> rowKeyList = new ArrayList<String>()
def validationRow = viewAsJson.rows.get(0)
//Compare one row object to config first
validationRow.each { k, v ->
if (wantedFields.contains(k)) {
wantedFields.remove(k)
rowKeyList.add(k)
}
}
ArrayList<String> ticketKeyList = new ArrayList<String>()
def validationTicket = viewAsJson.rows.ticket.get(0)
//Compare one ticket object to config first
validationTicket.each { k, v ->
if (wantedFields.contains(k)) {
wantedFields.remove(k)
ticketKeyList.add(k)
}
}
def rows = viewAsJson.rows
def tickets = viewAsJson.rows.ticket
//Pull matching ticket objects from JSON and store in Map
ArrayList<Map<String,Object>> tickList= new ArrayList<>()
ArrayList<Map<String,Object>> rowList= new ArrayList<>()
rows.each { row ->
Map<String,Object> rowMap = new HashMap<>()
row.each { k, v ->
if(rowKeyList.contains(k))
rowMap.put(k,v)
}
rowList.add(rowMap)
}
tickets.each { ticket ->
Map<String,Object> ticketMap = new HashMap<>()
ticket.each { k, v ->
if(ticketKeyList.contains(k))
ticketMap.put(k, v)
}
tickList.add(ticketMap)
}
for (int i = 0; i < rowList.size(); i++) {
HashMap<String,Object> dataMap = new HashMap<>()
dataMap.putAll(rowList.get(i))
dataMap.putAll(tickList.get(i))
listOfDataToWrite.add(dataMap)
}
println listOfDataToWrite
return listOfDataToWrite
}
I know there should be some validation for if the wantedFields ArrayList is still populated. I've iterated on this code so many times I just forgot to re-add that this time.
I don't know if you still need this code but why not try something like this.
Have a translation map and run each row through it.
Object tranverseMapForValue(Map source, String keysToTranverse, Integer location = 0){
List keysToTranverseList = keysToTranverse.split(/\./)
tranverseMapForValue(source, keysToTranverseList, location)
}
Object tranverseMapForValue(Map source, List keysToTranverse, Integer location = 0){
if(source.isEmpty() || keysToTranverse.isEmpty()){
return null
}
String key = keysToTranverse[location]
if(source[key] instanceof Map){
return tranverseMapForValue(source[key], keysToTranverse, location + 1)
}
else{
return source[key]
}
}
Map translation = [
"ticket.id": "id",
"ticket.subject": "subject",
"requester_id": "requester_id",
"ticket.status": "status",
"priority": "priority",
"updated": "updated",
"ticket.url": "url"
]
List rows = []
json.rows.each{ row ->
Map mapForRow = [:]
translation.each{ sourceKey, newKey ->
mapForRow << [(newKey): tranverseMapForValue(row, sourceKey)]
}
rows.add(mapForRow)
}
ArrayList al = new ArrayList();
//al[0] and al[1] are the json objects.
def json = new JsonBuilder()
json {
type "rel12"
total k
xyz ""
shows al[0],al[1]
emails ""
}
println json.toPrettyString()
i dont want to do the the hardcoding like al[0]. al[1].
but i need the output like
{
"type": "rel12",
"total": 2,
"xyz": "",
"shows": [
{
"extension": "zip",
"updateTime": 1477521104511
},
{
"extension": "zip",
"updateTime": 1477521104623
}
],
"emails": ""
}
I'm using the next Json
{
"ID": 8,
"MenuItems": [
{
"ID": 38,
"Name": "Home",
"URL": "{\"PageLayout\":\"Home\",\"Icon\":\"home\"}",
"Culture": "en",
"Children": null
},
{
"ID": 534,
"Name": "GUIDE ",
"URL": "{''PageLayout'':''Page A'', ''Icon'':''A''}",
"MenuType": 1,
"PageID": 0,
"Culture": "en",
"Children": [
{
"ID": 6,
"Name": "Form A",
"URL": "[''Type'':''Form A'',''Icon'':''Form'',''ItemID'':\"358\"]",
"Culture": "he",
"RuleID": 0
},
{
"ID": 60,
"Name": "Drama",
"URL": "[''Type'':''Form B'',''Icon'':''Form'',''ItemID'':\"3759\"]",
"Culture": "en",
"RuleID": 0
}
]
}
]
}
i'm using Groovy script in soapUI and i need to:
Assert the exitance of node that has the name GUIDE
Extract a list of all Itemsid
You can parse the JSON content using JsonSlurper and then work with the results like so:
import groovy.json.JsonSlurper
// Assuming your JSON is stored in "jsonString"
def jsonContent = new JsonSlurper().parseText(jsonString)
// Assert node exists with name GUIDE
assert(jsonContent.MenuItems.Name.contains("GUIDE"))
// Get list of ItemIDs
def itemList = jsonContent.MenuItems.Children.URL.ItemID[0].toList()
// List the items
itemList.each {log.info it}
Note that the above will fail given your current example, because of a few issues. Firstly, Name contains "GUIDE " (trailing space) rather than "GUIDE" (so you will need to adapt accordingly). Secondly, it is invalid JSON; the URL nodes have various erroneous characters.
On a side note, if you first need to retrieve your JSON from the response associated with a previous TestStep (say one called "SendMessage") within the existing testCase, this can be done as follows:
def jsonString = context.testCase.getTestStepByName("SendMessage").testRequest.response.getContentAsString()
