How can I control the screen brightness from a flash app using AS3? - actionscript-3

Is there are a way to control the screen brightness from a flash app using AS3?
I would like to create a slider that will control the brightness of 3 screens.

Flash Player holds no such a capability by default. However, your app is an AIR app, thus there is a way. You will need ANE (AIR Native Extension) that grants the access to the display(s) and its(their) properties.
You might find an existing one for your needs, or, if there are none, build your own: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/native-extensions-for-air.html

Not if you are targeting FlashPlayer. From your comments it looks like you want to build a standalone application.
Target the Adobe Air runtime for that. It is meant to b a standalone application that's not embedded in a website. It provides access to additional features, such asNativeWindow.

Adobe Air - Starling/Features | Controls and device simulator

I have few questions here, regarding creating app in Adobe Air using Starling and feathers.
I created yet a very simple app, which has Feathers list controller with static data provided to its dataProvider. According to the code it should work fine, but there are three major issues I am facing.
1: Touch/Click Positions
I am using:
list.addEventListener( Event.CHANGE, list_changeHandler );
Now the problem is, clicking coordinates are not correct. Clicking on 3rd Item triggered 4th item, to trigger 3rd, 2nd item needs to be clicked it's half way through etc.
2: Nothing, without Theme
I am using a custom theme, came along with a tutorial. If I don't use the theme, I am unable to see anything on the screen, somehow.
3: Resolution (Device Simulator) Problem
Though buggy, but it works with Theme, but my app doesn't fit with the resolution for each device simulator. Either its, iPad or iPhone 4 or any android simulator.
Also, can anyone please also explains, what is significance and use of Context3D render mode in starling class.
Any help is appreciated:
Thanks in advance

Starling is a Stage3D framework that displays content directly on graphic card using Context3D. Everything displayed by Starling is always under the regular display list. Feather is a component framework based on Starling.
Stage3D cannot handle any mouse operations so Starling and Feather simulate all their mouse event (those mouse event never really happen anywhere, they are created by calculation of mouse position on the stage)
not sure, never used Feather
Starling does not handle screen density and dpi calculation, if you want your app to fit any screen you'll have to handle it yourself.
I think you should see the example carefully. if u want to use any feathers component either you have to use feathers theme or custom theme.
if you use feather theme you need to provide theme path and before using any component you need to initialize that theme.Then use component any where.without theme you will not see any thing.
1: Touch/Click Positions
please provide minTouchHeight in class theme of DefaultListItemRenderer like:-
renderer.minWidth = this.gridSize;
renderer.minHeight = this.gridSize;
renderer.minTouchWidth = this.gridSize;
renderer.minTouchHeight = this.gridSize;
2: Nothing, without Theme,
3: Resolution (Device Simulator) Problem
Follow the example given in feather library
feathers-2.1.1\themes\MetalWorksMobileTheme\source\feathers\themes

AS3: Recording sound as they are output/played

I understand how to record microphone input in AS3 from this doc.
Is it possible to record sound exactly as they are being output/played?
The reason is I applied some sound transform (via the global SoundMixer) to sounds that are currently playing; and I also want to record this sound data while it is being played.
I just saw this question, to clarify, I am not trying to record just all sounds on the user's computer (which is not possible). My flash app has a Youtube player in it (via their AS3 API), and it's playing some sounds. I applied transforms using SoundMixer.soundTransform, and I want to record what's being played when the user is playing it.
Thanks in advance.
Just a passing suggestion.. on my desktop it seems ABLE to record sound into Flash from a different tab playing Youtube (HTML5).. I don't know how it's doing that!!
I allow microphone here.. (none actually plugged in, and speaker out has in-ear headphones)
http://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/create-a-useful-audio-recorder-app-in-actionscript-3--active-5836
PS: Anyone trying this must reduce Windows volume since anything above 10-20% is distorted audio into the Flash app.
And this HTML5 youtube trailer was recorded fine into the Wav file produced by Flash app above

So after a quick search it seems my Realtek Audio is classed as a Full-Duplex soundcard and also within its own control panel I have an option called "Multi-streaming" which is enabled/ticked. I think Full-Duplex is enough to do this though. Try options within your soundcard's own settings software. Don't know about your end-users. Some hardware will do it, some wont, there is no all-round solution outside of AIR (which makes desktop apps out of your AS3 code).

Create SWF video of images through Adobe Flex

I don't know whether it's the right place to put this up. But I've been trying from past 12 hours and haven't found anything related.
I'm creating a Adobe AIR project (which'll run on desktop), it'll ask for image locations on the local pc.
After the user is done selecting images. I want to output a SWF video (slideshow) of the selected images.
How to do the second step. Please guide. I want to create an output file (SWF) from my AIR Flex Desktop Application.
Check out https://github.com/claus/as3swf to compile SWFs at runtime...
This individual seems to have had a similar issue AS3 to Generate Dynamic SWF?
You can try following options from SWFtools
JPEG2SWF Takes one or more JPEG pictures and generates a SWF slideshow from them. Supports motion estimation compression (h.263) for better compression of video sequences.
PNG2SWF Like JPEG2SWF, only for PNGs.
GIF2SWF Converts GIFs to SWF. Also able to handle animated gifs.
Here is what I did :
Install the as3 compiler (mxmlc)
Run the command mxmlc.exe sample.as3 using NativeProcess

MediaScannerConnection for AS3/AIR?

import android.media.MediaScannerConnection;
import android.media.MediaScannerConnection.MediaScannerConnectionClient;
These are classes available in Java to refresh the detected images on an SD card on an Android device.
If you save an image to the SD card, it's there, but not visible unless you mount the device, unmount the device. These Java classes fix that problem.
But I'm building an App using AS3 and AIR, does anyone know the equivalent classes for AIR, AS3?
You can use Adobe Air's File class to poke around the device (also cf., Working with Files). Once you figure out what code gets you to the USB device, you can load it as a ByteArray and convert that to an image.
If you are looking for image import/conversion code, just search for what you need; there are numerous posts out there, and the answers are fairly standardized.
