first i ran intro_do.jsp using form action in intro.jsp including value 'ID','password'. and where in intro_do.jsp, compare value in database using while&if like that.
case 2 :
pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(sql2); rs = pstmt.executeQuery(); while (rs.next()) {
if (stid.equals(rs.getString("Student ID"))) {
if (password.equals(rs.getString("password"))) {
String myname = rs.getString("name");
%>
<script>
alert('login success');
//location.href="student.jsp?param="+;
location.href = "student.jsp+param=" + <%=myname%>;
//location.href = "student.jsp";
</script>
<%
break;
}
}
}
%><script>
alert('fail');
location.href = "intro.jsp";
</script>
<%
break;
i dont know why this fail?!
it's not good practice to combine java code and script. use ajax or form submission to the servlet. OR set the value in any of the fields of form. retrieve it in js and do the operation.
Of corse, you obviously should specify which error you have found when executing your example. Anyway, I'd dare to guess that the error arises in the javascript scriptlet: You've mistaken the scripting scope of the myname variable. It should go like this:
location.href = "student.jsp?param=<%=myname%>";
... because the JSP variables are resolved in the first place in the server side, so the HTML page delivered to the browser will be like this:
location.href = "student.jsp?param=joe";
Another important detail in this line is that myname is assumed not to contain blank characters. Or else, you should escape it first:
location.href = "student.jsp?param=<%=URLEncoder.encode(myname,"UTF-8")%>";

I have created a form in HTML/CSS on my website.
Now, my idea is to give out links that would contain some string (basically like an affiliate link) and would like that string to be entered in a hidden form field to be submitted, or somehow else, have that string in the submitted data.
is there an easy way to do this?
There are two ways of approaching this, both of which use a GET variable in the link you distribute.
First off, let's assume that--for example's purpose--your special string is abc123. You would then distribute a link that follows the form http://example.com/my/form/?affiliate=abc123.
Assuming that, here are two solutions, one in PHP and another in Javascript.
PHP Solution
This one is fairly easy, as long as you're just setting a hidden field.
<input type='hidden' name='affiliate' value='<?= htmlspecialchars($_GET['affiliate'], ENT_QUOTES, 'UTF-8'); ?>' />
Update: Added htmlspecialchars() call to escape any input, to prevent security issues with users setting the GET variable manually.
Javascript Solution
HTML
<input type='hidden' id='affiliate-input' name='affiliate' />
Javascript
This solution relies on jQuery. If you want a pure JS solution, let me know.
var $_GET = {};
// When the page loads, set the input value
$(document).ready(function(){
setupGetVariables();
var affiliateId = $_GET["affiliate"];
$("#affiliate-input").val(affiliateId);
});
function setupGetVariables()
{
if(document.location.toString().indexOf('?') !== -1) {
var query = document.location
.toString()
// get the query string
.replace(/^.*?\?/, '')
// and remove any existing hash string (thanks, #vrijdenker)
.replace(/#.*$/, '')
.split('&');
for(var i=0, l=query.length; i<l; i++) {
var aux = decodeURIComponent(query[i]).split('=');
$_GET[aux[0]] = aux[1];
}
}
}
The setupGetVariables() method was helped by this answer.
I have an online html form that uses a select field to choose a record from an existing record list (postcodes specifically) which then auto-populates other fields on the form with the rest of the address. This all works fine except that the dropdown list on the form only goes up so far. I need to know if this a limit on the html dropdown or how many records can be passed to the list in the first place?
Also, ideally, it would be great if there was a way to do it via auto-complete so as you start typing the postcode, it only shows those beginning with said characters - is this possible?
I would set up a custom html template for your online form. You can then hide your standard field and include a custom text input field. Attach an event handler to the custom field to do the lookup via a suitelet. If the auto-population is already working then your event handler can update the hidden standard field once a match is made so Netsuite's built-in sourcing works.
A sample suitelet. The get... functions return anything that can be JSON used by your page.
function service(request, response) {
var obj = {
success: true
};
try {
var step = request.getParameter('step') || 'start';
switch (step) {
case 'start':
obj.choices = getChoiceRoots(request.getParameter('itemid'), request.getParameter('treeName'));
break;
case 'other':
obj.choices = getChoiceChildren(request.getParameterValues('choiceIds[]') || request.getParameterValues('choiceIds'));
break;
default:
throw "Unexpected step: " + step;
}
} catch (e) {
obj.success = false;
obj.message = e.message || e.toString();
nlapiLogExecution('ERROR', "error getting choices", (e.message || e.toString()) + "<br> " + request.getURL() + (e.getStackTrace ? "<br> " + e.getStackTrace().join("<br> ") : ''));
}
_sendJS(request, response, obj);
function _sendJS(request, response, respObject) {
response.setContentType('JAVASCRIPT'); //'application/json');
var callbackFcn = request.getParameter("jsoncallback") || request.getParameter('callback');
if (callbackFcn) {
response.writeLine(callbackFcn + "(" + JSON.stringify(respObject) + ");");
} else response.writeLine(JSON.stringify(respObject));
}
}
Then on your page you'd have a script that uses the suitelet. (the suitelet needs to be available without login and the audience needs to be All.
The code on your custom template or associated script file would look something like:
//suiteletURL will look like https://forms.netsuite.com. RegExp makes that root relative to the domain you are on.
//This is not actually necessary when using JSONP but it can be useful in some circumstances so I left it in this example.
$.getJSON(suiteletURL.replace(new RegExp(".*://[^/]+/"), '/')+"&"+$.param(params) +"&callback=?",
function(d, txtStatus,xhr){
if(d.errorCode){
if(fail){
fail(xhr, txtStatus, null);
}else{
showMessage("#appMessage", d.errorMessage || ("Request Failed with code: "+xhr.responseJSON.errorCode));
}
}else{
success(d, txtStatus, xhr); // your custom success handler. d is already an object; no parsing necessary.
}
});
is it possible to call the active form validation programmatically via javascript? I need to call the validation procedure before doing some ajax operations.
Guess I'm a bit late with a reply here but I just had the same question and the solution by soju did not work for me either.
So I looked a bit deeper into the JS-code of ActiveForm and found that it appears to monitor the status of each field in a variable and if the field is "untouched" the validation isn't triggered, unless submitting the actual form. So I changed my call to this:
var $form = $("#my-form"),
data = $form.data("yiiActiveForm");
$.each(data.attributes, function() {
this.status = 3;
});
$form.yiiActiveForm("validate");
This now appears to be working as I expect.
We can achieve that by merging #BlueZed and #S Rana's answer.
You can write below script, so we can check that if form has any error in it then form will not submit (Even It will work for tabular (wizards) like form ).
var $form = $("#form"),
data = $form.data("yiiActiveForm");
$.each(data.attributes, function() {
this.status = 3;
});
$form.yiiActiveForm("validate");
if ($("#form").find(".has-error").length) {
return false;
}
Thanks blue zed,
but before this -
to append form field, u need to do this stuff...
// your input
$inputData = $form->field($model,"prductName");
// this remove next line & convert double quotes to single quotes
$newInputData= trim(preg_replace('/\s+/', ' ',str_replace('"',"'", $inputData)));
// then append like this
$("#table").append("'.$newInputData.'");
// this worked for me along with blue zend solution like this below
$this->registerJs('
$(document).on("click","input[type=text]",function(){
var $form = $("#w0"),
data = $form.data("yiiActiveForm");
$.each(data.attributes, function() {
this.status = 3;
});
$form.yiiActiveForm("validate");
});
');
Yes it is possible, you should try this :
$('#form-id').yiiActiveForm('validate');
this is worked for me
$this->registerJs( "
$('body').on('beforeSubmit', 'form#product-form', function () {
var form = $(this);
// return false if form still have some validation errors
if (form.find('.has-error').length) {
return false;
}
// submit form
$.ajax({
url: form.attr('action'),
type: 'post',
data: form.serialize(),
success: function (response) {
}
});
return false;
}); ");
The validation is activated when submitting the form. Thus, this will work:
$form.data('yiiActiveForm').submitting = true;
$form.yiiActiveForm('validate', false);
The second argument to validate is called forceValidate.
To validate manually from javascript, you should place following code to end of form submit event.
return $('#your-form-id').yiiActiveForm('validate');
For novice users,
$('#your-form-id').submit(function () {
return $('#your-form-id').yiiActiveForm('validate');
});
Also note that you should specify form id on ActiveForm like below
<?php $form = ActiveForm::begin(['id' => 'd4d-hub-form']); ?>
I had the same issue. And the are no clearly solution in official documentation and I don't know why any solution on Stackoverflow does not work for me. May be in the different versions of yii2 there is different ways to do that. I have spent a lot of time to find solution. In my case I have triggered validation for individual input on the form:
$('#form-id').data('yiiActiveForm').submitting = false;
$('#form-id').yiiActiveForm('validateAttribute', 'input-id'); //this will triger validation for input with id 'input-id'
$('#form-id').yiiActiveForm('validateAttribute', 'other-input-id'); //this will triger validation for input with id 'other-input-id'
please notice second parameter of function yiiActiveForm() it is not selector and it is not name of attribute it is id of input of attribute!!!
Try this
$("#form-id").data('yiiActiveForm').submitting = true;
$("#form-id").yiiActiveForm('validate');
it will show validation error if any field is not valid.
Also if all fields are validate then it will submit the request
I wrote code below that is working perfectly for displaying the results of my sales tax calculation into a span tag. But, I am not understanding how to change the "total" value into a variable that I can work with.
<script type="text/javascript">
function doStateTax(){
var grandtotalX = $('#GRANDtotalprice').val();
var statetaxX = $('#ddl').val();
$.post('statetax.php',
{statetaxX:statetaxX, grandtotalX:grandtotalX},
function(data) {
data = $.parseJSON(data);
$('.products-placeholder').html(data.products);
$('.statetax-placeholder').html(data.statetax);
$('.total-placeholder').html(data.total);
// ...
});
return false;
};
</script>
Currently, $('.total-placeholder').html(data.total); is successfully placing the total number into here:
<span class="total-placeholder"></span>
but how would I make the (data.total) part become a variable? With help figuring this out, I can pass that variable into a hidden input field as a "value" and successfully give a proper total to Authorize.net
I tried this and id didn't work (see the testtotal part to see what I'm trying to accomplish)..
function(data) {
data = $.parseJSON(data);
$('.products-placeholder').html(data.products);
$('.statetax-placeholder').html(data.statetax);
$('.total-placeholder').html(data.total);
$testtotal = (data.total);
// ...
If you are using a hidden field inside a form, you could do:
//inside $.post -> success handler.
$('.total-placeholder').html(data.total);
$('input[name=yourHiddenFieldName]', yourForm).val(data.total);
This will now be submitted along with the usual submit. Or if you want to access the data elsewhere:
var dataValue = $('input[name=yourHiddenFieldName]', yourForm).val();
The "data" object you are calling can be used anywhere within the scope after you have a success call. Like this:
$.post('statetax.php',
{statetaxX:statetaxX, grandtotalX:grandtotalX},
function(data) {
data = $.parseJSON(data);
var total = data.total;
var tax = data.total * 0.19;
});
return false;
};
Whenever you get an object back always try to see with an alert() or console.log() what it is.
alert(data); // This would return <object> or <undefined> or <a_value> etc.
After that try to delve deeper (when not "undefined").
alert(data.total); // <a_value>?
If you want 'testotal' to be recognized outside the function scope, you need to define it outside the function, and then you can use it somewhere else:
var $testtotal;
function(data) {
data = $.parseJSON(data);
$('.products-placeholder').html(data.products);
$('.statetax-placeholder').html(data.statetax);
$('.total-placeholder').html(data.total);
$testtotal = (data.total);
EDIT:
The comments are becoming too long so i'll try and explain here:
variables defined in javascript cannot be accessed by PHP and vice versa, the only way PHP would know about your javascript variable is if you pass it that variable in an HTTP request (regular or ajax).
So if you want to pass the $testtotal variable to php you need to make an ajax request(or plain old HTTP request) and send the variable to the php script and then use $_GET/$_POST to retrieve it.
Hope that answers your question, if not then please edit your question so it'll be clearer.
I am using ajax to insert a form using GET. When that form is submitted, it goes into a mysql database. I know that the error is occurring when this data is being submitted into mysql and not when I am retrieving it. My problem is that all line breaks, and when you press the "enter" key are not being submitted into the database. All of the text just goes in as a straight line without breaks or anything of the sort. I would appreciate any help as to figuring out how to get these breaks to actually be inserted into mysql because this is a big problem for my site. Any help is very much appreciated.
Here is the code for the ajax that I am using
$echovar400=
"
<script language='javascript' type='text/javascript'>
function ajaxFunction(){
var ajaxRequest;
try{
// Opera 8.0+, Firefox, Safari
ajaxRequest = new XMLHttpRequest();
} catch (e){
// Internet Explorer Browsers
try{
ajaxRequest = new ActiveXObject('Msxml2.XMLHTTP');
} catch (e) {
try{
ajaxRequest = new ActiveXObject('Microsoft.XMLHTTP');
} catch (e){
// Something went wrong
alert('Your browser broke!');
return false;
}
}
}
ajaxRequest.onreadystatechange = function(){
if(ajaxRequest.readyState == 4){
var ajaxDisplay = document.getElementById('pagecomments');
ajaxDisplay.innerHTML = ajaxRequest.responseText;
}
}
var age = document.getElementById('age').value;
var wpm = document.getElementById('wpm').value;
var queryString = '?age=' + age + '&wpm=' + wpm;
ajaxRequest.open('GET', 'ajaxprofilechat.php' + queryString, true);
ajaxRequest.send(null);
}
</script>
<form name='myForm' method='GET' >
<textarea rows='4' name='message' class='comment' maxlength='250' id='age' wrap='hard'> </textarea><br><h40>
<input type='hidden' id='wpm' value='$profilename'/>
<input type='button' onclick='ajaxFunction()' value='Comment' />
</form>
";
}
?>
I realize that is not the start of the php, but the rest is unimportant.
here is the code for ajaxprofilechat
$age = strip_tags($_GET['age']);
$wpm = $_GET['wpm'];
// Escape User Input to help prevent SQL Injection
$wpm = mysql_real_escape_string($wpm);
$chatname6 = ($_SESSION['username']);
$message6 = $_GET['site_message'];
$month6 = date("F");
$dayofmonth6 = date("d");
$year6 = date("Y");
$date10 = "$month6 $dayofmonth6 $year6";
$hours6 = date("g");
$min6 = date("i");
$sec6 = date("s");
$amorpm6 = date("A");
$time6 = "$hours6:$min6 $amorpm6";
if (strlen($age)>4)
{
mysql_connect("","","") or die($error);
mysql_select_db("") or die($error);
mysql_query("INSERT INTO guestbook VALUES ('','$wpm','$chatname6','$age','$date10','$time6')");
echo " <h80><b>Comment Posted</b></h80<p><p>";
}
else
{
echo " <h80><b>Your comment must be greater than four characters</b></h80><p>";
}
?>
Any help would be great. Thanks!
if you need to see my site to look at the error, here is a link to my profile page http://www.pearlsquirrel.com/profile.php?u=eggo
Guys I have literally tried everything that you have told me, and in every possible way. However, i am still encountering the same problem. Should I try to use the POST method of ajax instead of GET? Do you have any other suggestions? And thank you for the help so far.
Try $message6 = nl2br($_GET['site_message']);, then you don't have to worry about the \n or \r\n in your MySQL record since it will be stored as HTML <br /> and will display as intended during output. If you need to put it back in a textfield for edit, you'd simply use br2nl().
function br2nl($str)
{
return preg_replace('#<br\s*?/?>#i', "\n", $str);
}
try to wrap the POST data from the textarea with the nl2br() function
nl2br
