I have a slide show for the image, but the image does not appear entirely.
How can I solve this? I want to show the image no matter its height.
This image shows my problem. This is part of the image that appears in my slide show
html,
body {
height: 85%;
}
.carousel,
.item,
.active {
height: 100%;
}
.carousel-inner {
height: 100%;
}
/* Background images are set within the HTML using inline CSS, not here */
.fill {
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
background-position: center;
-webkit-background-size: cover;
-moz-background-size: cover;
background-size: cover;
-o-background-size: cover;
}

I have a custom carousel from here.
I would like to overlay an image on the top left corner of the carousel.
I have searched all over but nothing works with my carousel because it always deforms it.

<li data-target="#carouselExampleIndicators" data-target="#mycarousel" data-slide-to="2"></li>
</ol>
<div class="carousel-inner" role="listbox">
<!-- Slide One - Set the background image for this slide in the line below -->

.carousel-item {
height: 100vh;
min-height: 350px;

-moz-background-size: cover;
-o-background-size: cover;
background-size: cover;
}
#logo{
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
}
The image simply goes under the carousel, instead of overlaying it.
jfiddle
The logo is a class in your HTML code and in CSS it is selected as ID
so, the code will be:
.logo {
.....
}
instead of
#logo {
.....
}
No parent element is positioned appropriately (relatively). Wrap the code in a container and position the container relatively, and then the div(child of the wrapper) with the image inside of it will act accordingly. Or, stick the div inside the header so the logo div is the child of the header.
I'm using the twitter-bootstrap feature carousel for a slider.
basically my homepage will be just a big slider with a nav bar and footer.
I was wondering if there's a way to make the slider fit the screen without the image to stretch ?
To be more specific I want the slider to fit the windows browser width and height without having to sacrifice my image aspect ratio. with my current code the slider fits the screen perfectly but the image is not adjusting it's self as it's trying to keep aspect ratio
See my JSFiddle for a clear idea of what's happening; I also pasted the code below.

Just if someone else might run into the same issue, I found a way to fix my slider.
I basically downloaded the Materialize plugin at the link below. All the information are included on their site, all you have to do is follow the instruction for the full screen slider which is located under javascrip, media.
http://materializecss.com/
Also here is an updated version of my JSFiddle in case someone might want to look and test the end result; I also past the code under.

My image slider isn't quite the way I want it.
The image won't fill the full width of the container unless my browser window is small. When my window is larger the right side of the image has a white space instead of the image filling the whole width.
Here is my code:
<div class="bs-example">
<div id="myCarousel" class="carousel slide" data-interval="6500" data-ride="carousel">
<!-- Carousel indicators -->
<ol class="carousel-indicators">
<li data-target="#myCarousel" data-slide-to="0" class="active"></li>

<li data-target="#myCarousel" data-slide-to="2"></li>
</ol>

<div class="carousel-inner">
<div class="active item carousel-fade">

</div>
<div class="item carousel-fade">

</div>
<div class="item carousel-fade">

</div>
</div>
</div>
<!-- Carousel nav -->
<a class="carousel-control left" href="#myCarousel" data-slide="prev">
<span class="glyphicon glyphicon-chevron-left"></span>
</a>
<a class="carousel-control right" href="#myCarousel" data-slide="next">
<span class="glyphicon glyphicon-chevron-right"></span>
</a>
</div>
</div>
and the CSS:
.fill {
overflow: hidden;
background-size: cover;
background-position: center;
background-image:"path/to/image.jpg";
}
.carousel-inner{
margin-left: auto;
}
.carousel{
margin-top: 20px;
border-top: 2px solid black;
border-bottom: 2px solid black;
}
Which is the image you are trying to fill?
If they are the ones with alt="Evan&MEKiss" then you can try Alberto Rubio's answer:
.item img {
width: 100%;
}
If you are trying to fill the background-image, you can try tweaking background-image to use url:
background-image:url("path/to/image.jpg");
Here's a codepen example with placeholder images: http://codepen.io/fawyna/pen/VaOmqX
I have a bootstrap carousel with a fixed height. Here is the CSS:
.carousel-custom .carousel-outer {
position: relative;
}
#media(min-width: 992px){
.carousel-custom {
margin-top: 20px;
.carousel-inner {
height: auto;
.item {
height:500px;
line-height:300px;
}
}
}
}
#media(max-width: 991px){
.carousel-custom {
margin-top: 20px;
.carousel-inner {
height: auto;
.item {
height:300px;
line-height:300px;
text-align:center;
}
}
}
}
And here is my markup:

The issue is that I have images that are very wide, others very narrow and high, and others with a good ration height/width in the same carousel.
I'd like to have the wide images centered vertically (with a width of a 100%), high images centered horizontally (with a height of 100%) and "normal" images (with a decent ratio height/width) filling all the carousel.
Here is what I'm trying to do (first image is an example with a very wide image, second image with a very high one, and last one has a "decent" ratio).
How could I achieve this ? I've tried Make Bootstrap's Carousel both center AND responsive? and other tricks found on Google but none did this.
Since the .item elements are relative positioned you could just position the img elements absolutely. Giving the .item elements a fixed height, will help to vertically and horizontally align the images inside.
I'm sure there are lots of different ways to do this, here is one example. Hope it helps.
#import url('https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.6/css/bootstrap.min.css');
body {
background-color: black;
}
.carousel-inner > .item {
height: 100vh;
}
.carousel-inner > .item > img {
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
-webkit-transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
-ms-transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
max-height: 800px;
width: auto;
}
.carousel-control.left,
.carousel-control.right {
background-image: none;
}

<!-- inner -->

If you try to achieve this in bootstrap carousel, you will end up with black bars in top and bottom...I was stuck with similar problem and ended up using "flickity" js library..it works lot better than tryig to achieve this on something not meant for this....
I have created a basic website for a mates brewery, but when viewed on a mobile device, the carousel image is condensed and doesn't adjust to the size of the screen. Ive tried editing the CSS file, which in turn helped adjust the image when resizing on a PC, but didnt help with the mobile device..
the website is temporarily sitting here http://west.net16.net/
Thanks in advance
/* Carousel base class */
.carousel {
height: 100%;
margin-bottom: 60px;
}
/* Since positioning the image, we need to help out the caption */
.carousel-caption {
z-index: 10;
}
/* Declare heights because of positioning of img element */
.carousel .item {
height: 500px;
background-color: #777;
}
.carousel-inner > .item > img {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
min-width: 100%;
height: 100%;
}
HTML:
<div id="myCarousel" class="carousel slide" data-ride="carousel">
<!-- Indicators -->
<ol class="carousel-indicators">
<li data-target="#myCarousel" data-slide-to="0" class="active"></li>
<li data-target="#myCarousel" data-slide-to="1"></li>
<li data-target="#myCarousel" data-slide-to="2"></li>
</ol>
<div class="carousel-inner" role="listbox">
<div class="item active">
<img class="first-slide" src="IMGS/header1.gif" alt="west city brewing">
<div class="container">
<!--<div class="carousel-caption">
<h1>Example headline.</h1>
<p>Note: If you're viewing this page via a <code>file://</code> URL, the "next" and "previous" Glyphicon buttons on the left and right might not load/display properly due to web browser security rules.</p>
<p><a class="btn btn-lg btn-primary" href="#" role="button">Sign up today</a></p>
</div>-->
</div>
</div>
Your carousel is not cycling the elements. It is just a static image.
if you need a static image - try a jumbotron instead. It sizes nicely to mobile and desktop devices.
if you need to use a carousel, I suggest to modify the classic carousel html script using a background image and adjusting the size in your css file accordingly.
here you will find an html example:
<div class="container">
<!-- Header Carousel -->
<div id="myCarousel" class="carousel slide" data-ride="carousel">
<!-- Indicators -->
<ol class="carousel-indicators">
<li data-target="#myCarousel" data-slide-to="0" class="active"></li>
<li data-target="#myCarousel" data-slide-to="1"></li>
<li data-target="#myCarousel" data-slide-to="2"></li>
</ol>
<!-- Wrapper for slides -->
<div class="carousel-inner" role="listbox">
<div class="item active">
<div class="fill" style="background-image:url('https://placeimg.com/1440/810/any');"></div>
<div class="carousel-caption">
</div>
</div>
<div class="item">
<div class="fill" style="background-image:url('https://placeimg.com/1440/810/any');"></div>
<div class="carousel-caption">
</div>
</div>
<div class="item">
<div class="fill" style="background-image:url('https://placeimg.com/1440/810/any');"></div>
<div class="carousel-caption">
</div>
</div>
</div>
<!-- Controls -->
<a class="left carousel-control" href="#myCarousel" data-slide="prev">
<span class="icon-prev"></span>
</a>
<a class="right carousel-control" href="#myCarousel" data-slide="next">
<span class="icon-next"></span>
</a>
</div>
</div>
and your css example code:
/* CSS used here will be applied after bootstrap.css */
/* -------carousel slides----*/
.carousel-control.right, .carousel-control.left {
background-image: none;
}
.carousel-indicators {
bottom:-50px;
}
.carousel-indicators li {
border-color: #C0C0C0;
}
.carousel-indicators .active {
background-color: #c0c0c0;
}
.carousel-inner {
margin-bottom:50px;
}
.carousel .item{
height: 400px;
}
.item img {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
min-height: 400px;
}
.carousel .fill {
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
background-position: center;
background-size: cover;
}

If you need you can remove the carousel indicators and its controls.
make the image a background to a div usuing url() in css file. Then use these styles.
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: center 0px;
-webkit-background-size: cover;
-moz-background-size: cover;
-o-background-size: cover;
background-size: cover;
