Hello people!
I'm very new to this site and to HTML... I would like to build my own website but since I don't have much experience and knowledge about HTML I need help.
I want a side bar menu like on this website http://crichd.in/live/. Can someone help me? Also I want the IPL T20 text on the top left like on the website. On the website the side bar menu and table is inside a div box. As I said, I'm very nooby :|.
Also, the last table content "wallpapers" Is a little bit too big... I set my custom size for it but it still is bigger then the other boxes. Can someone also fix this?

Replace your code with this and see if this works:
<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width:100%; max-width:600px; border-collapse: collapse;">
<tr>
<td>
<img src="https://dummyimage.com/600x400/cf30cf/fff.jpg" alt="" style="margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0; display: block; width:100%; max-width: 600px;">
</td>
</tr>
Edit:
Here is 2 tutorials they helped me while creating HTML emails:
Build an HTML Email Template From Scratch
How to Code a Responsive Email from Scratch
As pointed out by the other user, some of that space is coming from the the font size.
What I recommend is using either:
line-height: 0;
or
font-size: 0;
To remove that, and then put all text inside spans to put the size back up.
You also need to remove the padding from your cells,
tr, td {
padding: 0;
}
Complete changes required:
tr, td {
padding: 0;
line-height: 0;
}
span {
line-height: 1;
}
Plus wrap all text in spans.
use "font-size: 0;"
and I think solve your problem
Example:-
<td style="font-size: 0;"><img src="https://dummyimage.com/600x400/cf30cf/fff.jpg" alt="" style="width:100%; max-width: 600px;"></td>
I am trying to finish home project and I am stuck with header element box not being within body box element. Can you explain to me why is that happening and how to fix it?

I am beginner to web development. In fact, this is my second html page so its not very neat and tidy.
I have added three navigation links in the navigation header but all of them are lying outside the line and no matter what I can't fix them.
Can anyone help please? You can ignore the other code and check only navigation one.

These two setting should help you to get started:
nav {
float: right;
}
nav li {
display: inline-block;
}
The first one allows you to place the whole nav right of the image, the second one causes the li elements to be aligned horizontally instead of vertically (as they would be with their default display: block setting).

im trying to create a website, but im having trouble with 2 parts;
1. I am unable to vertically align the Website title vertically so that its is in the middle of the div.
2. Im trying to left align the menu table with the header div right above it and make it stay as such for all browser types.
I have tried to do different things to get both the above to work, but nothing seems to work and am unable to align either of the elements. Could someone help me please.

I have tried messing with the positions (abs, fixed, relative) as well as with the margins, but nothing seems to move either of the elements. Thanks in advance.
One way to do it is through padding:
#headerdiv{
width: 200px;
margin:0px auto;
border: 1px solid red;
width: 70%;
height: 70px;
padding-top:30px;
}
Here height has been changed and the rest to 100 has been added to padding-top
There are many ways to do that, example:
http://jsfiddle.net/ovLhjmwb/
For example: Is more easy to have a container that contains all the child elements (and give it a width)
.container {
width: 400px;
margin: auto;
}
Also, vertical aligned text, is a little difficult to do, the easiest way is to use the vertical-align property (that comes with table elements)
#headerdiv table{
vertical-align: middle;
height: 100%;
width: 100%;
}
So I guess there are some more probs. For example use more HTML5 tags and not so many of ID's or classes. Keep your DOM-tree as simple as possible. You will get a better structure and your xode is more readable. BTW I fixed your problems in my solution as well.
HTML:
<header>
<h1>Game<span>Portal</span></h1>
</header>
<nav>
<ul>
<li>Home</li>
<li>Games</li>
<li>News</li>
<li>Contact Us</li>
</ul>
</nav>
CSS:
body{
background: black;
}
header {
width: 70%;
display: block;
margin: 0 auto;
height: 100px;
border: 1px solid red;
}
header h1 {
font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, sans-serif;
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 30px;
line-height: 30px;
color: white;
text-transform: uppercase;
padding-top:13px;
}
header h1 span {
font-size: 25px;
}
nav {
width:70%;
margin:0 auto;
text-align:left;
height: 100px;
background: #4D4D4D;
}
nav ul {
margin-left:-40px;
}
nav ul li {
float:left;
list-style-type:none;
}
nav ul li a{
color: #808080;
height: 62px;
padding:38px 20px 0 20px;
border-left:1px solid #808080;
display: block;
font-size: 15pt;
}
Problem:

The trouble I am currently having is that the border around my body is not outlining everything. As I have recently learned I'm guessing this means an element is out of the flow due to floating? However I am not certain how to fix it in this case.

thanks in advance guys!!
This is happening because your body has fix height of 100%.Change body tag css as:
height:auto;
min-height: 100%
if this doesn't work then add following with this:
overflow:auto;
Probably better NOT to use the body element for your container. Instead, just add
<div class="container"></div>
around your code and in your CSS changehtml to body and body to div.container.
body{
font-family: sans-serif;
background-color:#464E54;
height: 100%;
}
div.container{
width: 960px;
margin: auto;
background-color: white;
border: 3px solid black;
padding: 0;
}
Edit: I completely missed the 100%, that's gotta be it.
Add overflow: hidden to your body element. When elements are floated it will not push the parent container height past it unless there is a clearer
