Calculating Conversion Rate In MySQL - mysql

I'm trying to calculate the conversion rate of clicks and unique visitors for local analytic part of a website. MySQL 5.1.73, appears to not like my query. I'm not sure if the sources I'm getting are using deprecated syntax, or I'm simply not asking the correct question in Google.

Sorry if this is a very beginner-isk question. A lot of my resources are not working in this case.

unique is a reserved word in SQL. The best idea would probably be to rename it to unique_clicks or something down those lines. If that is not possible, you can escape it with forward quotes (`s).
Additionally, while div is perfectly legal syntax in MySQL, it performs integer division. Chances are you meant to use floating point division, which can simply be done with the / operator:
SELECT (SUM(click1) / SUM(`unique`) * 100)

Use
(100 * SUM(click1) / SUM(`unique`))

M expression for SSIS equivalent

I've just started exploring DAX on PowerBI; so please excuse if this query sounds too novice to expert users. DAX functions are too 'different' if coming from a SQL background, hence the query.
In SSIS I'm using a function to replace values in a column based on a string (more so, an error in the value). I'm using the below to do the job easily:
Column2 = SUBSTRING([Column1],1,FINDSTRING([Column1],";#",1) - 1)
Even after looking at the Text functions on Microsoft help page.
for almost an hour trying to understand; I couldn't for some reason.
Any ideas?
An analogous expression in M would be
Text.Middle([Column1], 1, Text.PositionOf([Column1], ";#") - 1)
But you could also use Text.Start instead since you're starting at 1 or make it even simpler with Text.BeforeDelimiter:
Text.BeforeDelimiter([Column1], ";#")
In DAX, you'd use MID/LEFT instead of Text.Start/Text.Middle and FIND or SEARCH (depending on if you need case-sensitivity or not) instead of Text.PositionOf.
LEFT ( [Column1], SEARCH ( ";#", [Column1] ) - 1 )
Either way, the logic is nearly identical but you just have different function names.

Issue with simple division in SQL Server

I must be a total idiot or something. I'm using Microsoft SQL Server 2008. I can't do simple division. SELECT 200/600 returns a big fat goose egg (0.00). Yet if I do 600/200 it returns 3. The only thing I can think of is some server setting. I'm feeling pretty darn stupid here. Can somebody please help?
The numbers you are using are being interpreted as integers, hence values you might not normally expect.
Try this...
select 200.0/600.0
and you'll see that SQL Server treats the numbers as floats and therefore gives you the result you want.
Alternatively you could try
select cast (200 as float) / cast (600 as float)
And you'd get the same result - all I've done here is to explicitly cast the values as floats.

SELECT n-th row WHERE field = x value

format(sql, sizeof(sql), "SELECT * FROM `datab` WHERE License = %s", searchPlate);
Querying with this format will give me all the rows with this result, but what i'm trying to do is take for ex. the third or fifth or even tenth row that has this result, not all of the rows. How can i do this?
Something like this should work in MySQL:
format(sql, sizeof(sql), "SELECT * FROM `datab` WHERE License = %s ORDER BY IDColumnNameGoesHere LIMIT %d, 1", searchPlate, MyDesiredRowInteger);
Some points:
%d might not be right, use the correct symbol for an integer.
You are most definitely using a specific RDBMS, you must look into the documentation and find out. SQL is a standard, MySQL ans SQL-Server etc are implementations of that standard. You must find out which implementation you are using.
Sticking variables into strings like you have done leaves you very vulnerable to SQL injection. You should always parameterize your queries.
LIMIT is specific to MySQL if you are using a different RDBMS you will have to go another route. For example SQL-Server you can use TOP, but as this only has one parameter you will need to use min or max in addition to only get the one record you desire.

RegEx to insert a string before each table in a MySQL query

I need to take a MySQL query and insert a string before each table name. The solution doesn't need to be one line but obviously it's a regex problem. It will be implemented in PHP so having programming logic is also fine.
Rationale and Background:
I'm revamping my code base to allow for table prefixes (eg: 'nx_users' instead of 'users') and I'd like to have a function that will automate that for me so I don't need to find every query and modify it manually.
Example:
SELECT * FROM users, teams WHERE users.team_id = teams.team_id ORDER BY users.last_name
Using the prefix 'nx_', it should change to
SELECT * FROM nx_users, nx_ teams WHERE nx_ users.team_id = nx_ teams.team_id ORDER BY nx_ users.last_name
Obviously it should handle other cases such as table aliases, joins, and other common MySQL commands.
Has anybody done this?
How big of a code base are we talking about here? A regular expression for something like this is seriously flirting with disaster and I think you're probably better off looking for every mysql_query or whatever in your code and making the changes yourself. It shouldn't take more than the hour you'd spend implementing your regex and fixing all the edge cases that it will undoubtedly miss.
Using a regex to rewrite code is going to be problematic.
If you need to dynamically change this string, then you need to separate out your sql logic into one place, and have a $table_prefix variable that is appropriately placed in every sql query. The variable can then be set by the calling code.
$query = "SELECT foo from " . $table_prefix . "bar WHERE 1";
If you are encapsulating this in a class, all the better.
This example does not take into consideration any escaping or security concerns.
First off, regular expressions alone are not up to the task. Consider things like:
select sender from email where subject like "from users group by email"
To really do this you need something that will parse the SQL, produce a parse tree which you can modify, and then emit the modified SQL from the modified parse tree. With that, it's doable, but not advisable (for the reasons Paolo gave).
A better approach would be to grep through your source looking for either the table names, the function you use to sent SQL, the word from, or something like it at script something to throw you into an editor at those points.

Practical limit to length of SQL query (specifically MySQL)

Is it particularly bad to have a very, very large SQL query with lots of (potentially redundant) WHERE clauses?
For example, here's a query I've generated from my web application with everything turned off, which should be the largest possible query for this program to generate:

It seems to work well enough, but it's also not particularly high traffic (a few hundred hits a day or so), and I wonder if it would be worth the effort to try and optimize the queries to remove redundancies and such.
Reading your query makes me want to play an RPG.
This is definitely not too long. As long as they are well formatted, I'd say a practical limit is about 100 lines. After that, you're better off breaking subqueries into views just to keep your eyes from crossing.
I've worked with some queries that are 1000+ lines, and that's hard to debug.
By the way, may I suggest a reformatted version? This is mostly to demonstrate the importance of formatting; I trust this will be easier to understand.

Default MySQL 5.0 server limitation is "1MB", configurable up to 1GB.
This is configured via the max_allowed_packet setting on both client and server, and the effective limitation is the lessor of the two.
Caveats:
It's likely that this "packet" limitation does not map directly to characters in a SQL statement. Surely you want to take into account character encoding within the client, some packet metadata, etc.)

this is the only real limit it's adjustable on a server so there is no real straight answer
From a practical perspective, I generally consider any SELECT that ends up taking more than 10 lines to write (putting each clause/condition on a separate line) to be too long to easily maintain. At this point, it should probably be done as a stored procedure of some sort, or I should try to find a better way to express the same concept--possibly by creating an intermediate table to capture some relationship I seem to be frequently querying.
Your mileage may vary, and there are some exceptionally long queries that have a good reason to be. But my rule of thumb is 10 lines.
Example (mildly improper SQL):

This is probably too large; optimizing, however, would depend largely on context.
Just remember, the longer and more complex the query, the harder it's going to be to maintain.
Most databases support stored procedures to avoid this issue. If your code is fast enough to execute and easy to read, you don't want to have to change it in order to get the compile time down.
An alternative is to use prepared statements so you get the hit only once per client connection and then pass in only the parameters for each call
I'm assuming you mean by 'turned off' that a field doesn't have a value?
Instead of checking if something is not this, and it's also not that etc. can't you just check if the field is null? Or set the field to 'off', and check if type or whatever equals 'off'.
