I have a website that is managed by typo3. I modified the alt-text of the site logo in my template (index.html) . Much to my surprise the changes did not take any effect in the frontend. I also deleted the cache but nothing happened?
How can I fix this problem?
Every change in template mapped by TemplaVoila must be confirmed by TemplaVoila module. Click it, find the folder with templates and click "Update Mapping" for template(s) marked by yellow warning sign.
Make sure you've modified the correct template (there can be several templates for a page) by viewing the page's TypoScript object browser and verifying that the desired value actually exists.
If that doesn't help there's probably a mistake in your TS and you should show the relevant portions of your template.

I know this is probably a very basic/obvious thing, but I'm new to Shopify and trying to assist a client while a colleague is on vacation. I know what I need to change and how to change it, but not how to access it. When I go to Online Store and click Edit Code, I see all the Liquid, JSON, and even CSS files, but I can't find the HTML file I need to edit, nor can I find any of the HTML I need to edit within the theme.liquid file. The resources I'm finding are all either outdated (there is no "Edit HTML/CSS" option on the dropdown anymore) or unhelpful (like this). I can see the HTML in the console and upon clicking View Page Source, but I don't know how to get to it through Shopify. I feel like I'm losing my mind because this HAS to be very simple and obvious. If someone could please tell me how to access and edit the HTML file on Shopify I would be VERY grateful!
The html files are the liquid files.
There are no actual HTML files since this is a Shopify theme.
Depending on your theme, your files are located in:
theme.liquid - here are the header and footer
templates/*.liquid - all liquid files here are the main templates for the different pages
sections/*.liquid - the files here are usually used on the homepage and other pages as well
snippets/*.liquid - these are the reusable code snippets
So depending on your changes you will need to go through these files and update them for the specific changes.
Please have in mind that these files may be used on multiply pages and if you change one of them there is a possibility that this will affect other pages as well.
I'm having a rough time with Magento. I spent a good deal of time going through the user guide on the Responsive theme, setting up Compass and editing SCSS files and whatnot, but was having the hardest time getting the changes to actually appear on the frontend.
I refreshed/flushed the cache, deleted contents of var/session and var/cache folders, I made sure the site was picking up the correct .css file under 'page source' in chrome.
It seemed like I could get the changes to apply if I changed 'merge css files' to yes, but even when the changes displayed if I made updates they wouldn't be pushed to the front end!
I changed the base URLs, however, and noticed that the secure URL for our site will load the correct .css and actually display the changes, while the unsecured URL says its loading the same .css file but NOT showing the changes.
I'm sure this is simple, but I'm going insane trying to figure out exactly what the problem is. Please let me know if you need more specifics from me!

I want to generate links that can be pasted in emails so I can show people folders in their directory structure such as where to edit their email signature manually.
I'm trying to put a link to the folder in an email but make it generic enough that when they forward it, everyone who opens it will get the link into their own directory structure properly so I need to use environment variables.
I type the text I want the link to say then highlight and CTRL-K then put %CSIDL_APPDATA%\Microsoft\Signatures\ in the link but Outlook changes my % symbols to %25's. I'd ask how to escape a % but it shouldn't be escaped I don't think since it's actually part of a link.

Simple answer, you can't. When you're linking like that, the current directory looks like root / to the html. So you could look at a subfolder of current directory (which you aren't guaranteed to know since it could be different on different OS's or even per user configuration) but that won't really help you.
This project will let you edit the actual HTML of your email by adding an Advanced tab but even with full control of the HTML, it can't be done. "It would open up a security hole the size of Denver."

I am relatively new to Web Development, and I am messing with a Joomla template installation.
I managed to get firebug to make changes and Firediff to save them as a new CSS, and replaced the CSS file on the server.
What I would now like to do is edit the template elements, (mostly deleting unused template elements), on screen using firebug, and then save the changes to a new HTML document.
My trouble is that I cannot work out where the correct html is to replace on the server.
Only by using Dreamweaver I can ascertain that the file name is index.html, but there are many files called this on the server.
With the CSS file I was able to identify the server path and filename from the blue text in the right panel of firebug, in order to replace the CSS changes with the output from firediff.
Can I identify the location, (and ideally filename), of hte HTML document in the same sort of way from firebug?
You might want to read the template tutorials before removing anything from the template index.php. In general, you want the template to have provisions for every possibility that you might want. A well designed template will have the ability to display multiple columns in multiple positions as well as other positions to place banners, login boxes, weather widgets, or anything else you can think of. Then you simply code the template so that any position that is not being used does not get added to the final code of the page being displayed.

Once you have a good handle on how the template is supposed to work, the file you will be editing is in JOOMLA/templates/YOUR TEMPLATE/index.php
Be sure you get the whole module positions and collapsible module position thing before stripping anything out. A well thought out template will very rarely need any code editing, virtually everything should be done in the admin and with CSS page class and module class suffixes.
My widget does not work once deployed even though it shows no errors in Dashcode. Apologies in advance for my inarticulartness with the terminology. I am a newbie.
To create the widget, I deleted the default .js file and pasted the JavaScript plus XHTML into the HTML page and created the accompanying CSS file.
The only code I can see that is generated is the plist.
I tried opening up all the permissions but nothing seems to change.
The OSX utilities console shows errors which are on lines beyond what there are numbers for in the code.
I don't think the JavaScript/XHTML/CSS is the problem as it works when in a web page and the widget does actually work within Dashcode.

If you're using Dashcode, don't delete the default JS. file. This is important because it has the loaders necessary to render most of the parts in your widget. You can always add your custom javascript file. It also provides code that will allow it to work properly in Dashcode.
