I past into a new page the live demo:
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary btn-lg" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal">
Launch demo modal
</button>
<div class="modal fade">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span><span class="sr-only">Close</span></button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Modal title</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<p>One fine body…</p>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary">Save changes</button>
</div>
</div><!-- /.modal-content -->
</div><!-- /.modal-dialog -->
</div><!-- /.modal -->
but it doen't work. Why?
In head section there are Bootstrap CSS and Javascript:
<link href="css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" />
<script src="js/bootstrap.js"></script>
You sure you've included jquery as well?
It needs to come before bootstrap.js
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary btn-lg" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal">
Notice data-target="#myModal". Notice also that your modal is <div class="modal fade"> (without an id).
Change <div class="modal fade"> to <div class="modal fade" id="myModal"> and you should now see it pop up when you click the button.

Bootstrap noob here.
I'm working with bootstrap 4 and an html file, and I'm not able to get a modal working.
The code I'm using is literally the one on the bs4 docs regarding modals.
For some reason, the code that works in the bootstrap docs does not work for me, when I load my page and click in the modal button, nothing happens.
Here's the code I'm using, extracted from bs4 docs.
I tried some other answers from SO, but didn't work for me, and I'm not sure what I might be doing wrong. Any bit of help is appreciated.

Add the jQuery library and reference bootstrap.min.js to the project for Bootstrap Modal to work. Add the bootstrap.min.css cdn reference to the project for the bootstrap styles to be applied.

When I open the page, a button appears on the top-left corner. Upon pressing it, it dies get highlighted, but nothing happens at all.
Do you have any idea why this is happening, and how to solve it?
here is the problem with your html classes.
look for Bootstrap 5 model
change your html with this or grab from above link

You have used bootstrap 4 code instead of bootstrap 5 code, either make all your modals the way bootstrap 5 does it, and you can read it here: https://getbootstrap.com/docs/5.0/components/modal/
or just change bootstrap versions to bootstrap 4
The difference is mostly that in bootstrap 5 you use "data-bs" + something in your attributes instead of just "data-"
Add the following script in the head of your html code.
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.5.2/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
I'm trying to close the current modal and open a new modal, I'm able to acheive it, but when the second modal is open I get the scroll bar. The .modal-open is missing from the body element.
Here is my snippet :

Bootstrap applies a class modal-open on body when it opens a modal. On close of modal it removes that class (lets say after approx 500ms). So when we try to close one modal and open another another modal at the same time, one code is removing the modal-open class and one code applies the modal-open class. Due to this, the modal-open class gets removed from the body and we are able to see the scrollbar.
To fix this its advisable to trigger the opening of 2nd modal through javascript after a setTimeout of 500ms. This will ensure that the 2nd modal will open only after the first is closed completely.
$('#next_modal').click(() => {
setTimeout(() => {
$('#modal-2').modal('toggle'); //href="#modal-2" data-toggle="modal"
}, 500)
})

SCREENSHOT HEREI need a modal on my website and i decided to litterally copy the code for a modal on the bootstrap website. Only now it displays very small.
This is the modal code:
<!-- Modal (EXACT COPY FROM BOOTSTRAP) -->
<div class="modal fade" id="exampleModalCenter" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="exampleModalCenterTitle" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog modal-dialog-centered" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<h5 class="modal-title" id="exampleModalLongTitle">Modal title</h5>
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close">
<span aria-hidden="true">×</span>
</button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
...
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-secondary" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary">Save changes</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
if you want a Bootstrap v4 modal for your site they're quite self explanatory. But for example sake and to hopefully help you. The code below will work for a Bootstrap modal pop-up (large):
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.1.0/css/bootstrap.min.css">
</head>
<body>
<div class="container">
<h2>Large Modal</h2>
<!-- Button to Open the Modal -->
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal">
Open modal
</button>
<!-- The Modal -->
<div class="modal fade" id="myModal">
<div class="modal-dialog modal-lg">
<div class="modal-content">
<!-- Modal Header -->
<div class="modal-header">
<h4 class="modal-title">Modal Heading</h4>
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">×</button>
</div>
<!-- Modal body -->
<div class="modal-body">
Modal body..
</div>
<!-- Modal footer -->
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-secondary" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/popper.js/1.14.0/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.1.0/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
</body>
I'm attempting to use the modal when clicking on an image. The image is within a button.
I have copied the code from the Bootstrap website but nothing is working. I have linked bootstrap.css and bootstrap.min.js at the beginning of my html document.
Please help!

As stated in the Bootstrap documentation, you need to include jQuery.
jQuery required
Please note that all JavaScript plugins require jQuery to be included, as shown in the starter template
Also note that you need to include it before the Bootstrap Javascript file.
Here is an example of your code working:
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.5/css/bootstrap.min.css">
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.5/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<div class="col-xs-6 col-md-4">
<button type="button" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal">
<h4>SHORT SLEEVED SHIRT<br><br>$20</h4>
<img src="images/femaleshortsleeved.jpg">

<!-- Modal -->
<div class="modal fade" id="myModal" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel">
