I am trying to create a page using jquery.pagepiling.js and bootstrap. Basically It's a one page scrolling site and each page fits into the browser window. I couldn't figure out how to move the default fixed navbar inside the container.

<nav id="menu" class="navbar-fixed-top container">
<div class="navbar-header">
<button type="button" class="navbar-toggle" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#navbar-collapse">
<span class="sr-only">Toggle navigation</span>
<span class="icon-bar"></span>
<span class="icon-bar"></span>
<span class="icon-bar"></span>
</button>
</div>
<div class="col-sm-4">
<div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="navbar-collapse">
<div class="navbar-inner">
<ul class="nav">
<li data-menuanchor="page1" class="active">section1
</li>
<li data-menuanchor="page2">section2
</li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</nav>
[EDIT PER COMMENTS - 2014-11-210]
Putting the menu into the container, inside a row, is very easy...pretty much straight from the bootstrap site...as I said, just remove the navbar-fixed-top to make it position itself relative within its containing tag.

I am following a video course and did exactly as the instructor. His navbar hamburger collapses upon clicking but mine does not.
I've tried:
different browsers
rearranging the order and location of link and script tags for JQuery and bootstrap
looked through the bootstrap css file to see if there was a class attribute that was disabled
Could someone please help me out with why the hamburger button does not collapse?

I am trying to customize the default bootstrap navbar by leaving the textbox and submit button out - but still responsive-. The thing is that when I make the screen smaller -and the other buttons collapse- the texbotx automatically jumps to another line. I'd like for it to stay in the same line, and compress to adjust to the size of the screen.
I tried using rows but I couldn't figure out how to put it in practice. Also, I tried to follow the answer for this post Exclude menu item from the collapse of bootstrap 3 navbar
but it wouldn't work for the form.
Any help will be welcomed! Thanks for reading:)
I don't think this is going to be any helpful, but here's my html code.

My website uses twitter-bootstrap-3 and has a 2 column layout (col-sm-9 and col-sm-3).
col-sm-9 contains my blog and col-sm-3 contains a sidebar nav.
For some strange reason the nav bar collapses at 767px, while the blog container collapses at 768px.
This means when I have the viewport at exactly 768px, the menu looks terrible.
Is this a bug of some sort and can someone help me resolve this?

look at the Bootstrap Docs, you can't have the navbar inside a .col-*-*, and that it might causing the issue.

try the basic structure to built the giant website

I would like to use navbar-right on a navbar-form and a navbar-nav however it ends up putting the form on one row and the navbar_nav on another row on the right. How can I get the navbar to show the brand on the left and on the right is a search field followed by a nav links.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!
You need to use this bootstrap classes navbar-form and navbar-left to move the search icon on left side. Here is a DEMO.
<form class="navbar-form navbar-left" role="search" ng-submit="collectionSearch()">
