Any method to use dotConnect without compiling the licence? - mysql

Im trying to use this http://www.devart.com/dotconnect/mysql/ with Indusoft Web Studio to connect from Windows CE to a MySQL database as its the only solution Ive found. The connection works (from what I see in the logs) but then a error message saying "License not found" pops up. Besides having terrible support, Devart for some odd reason does not understand Im using another IDE besides Visual Studio to compile this project. They keep telling me I need to add the resource to the project when IWS has nothing like this.
I tried to decompile the DLL but I cannot find a method to jump pass the "License not found" message.
Has anyone got this to work with a already complied program and just put the DLL in the same folder as their exe?
Ive tried their .NET Compact Framework complier as well but it did not work either. Their support is like I mentioned terrible. One of (if not the) the worst Ive had to deal with in YEARS.

Error BC30560: 'ReportViewer' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms'

I get this error some 23 times when publishing the website. There are no issues with compilation and testing. I know someone is going to have the urge to say "remove the duplicate reference from the web.config" but that's not the problem here. This is a project started in 2008 and the use of ReportViewer predates the code being added to our git repository (which in turn predated me working on it) so I know that nothing is technically wrong with the code. In fact, until last week, it published just fine. What changed? I finally got a newer, faster computer. The client wanted one line removed. I put the code on the new computer, removed the offending line, built, tested. All is ok. Then I went to publish and got the ReportViewer error. I'm working with a byte-for-byte copy of the project on the old computer and the only thing that fails is the publish on the new computer.
Clearly something isn't installed on the new computer that's preventing publish, but I don't have a clue what it is. (Or possibly something installed that shouldn't be. The "new" computer was actually in-use by another developer.)
I was grasping at anything for this problem. I got the idea to remove all copies of the ReportViewer DLL from the Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms folder. There were 5 different versions. Windows itself balked when I tried to move version 10. That was my clue. It turns out that whoever switched from version 10 to version 12 missed a couple of source files. I updated the reference to version 12 and the problems cleared up.
Now the real mystery is: why did it ever work on the old computer?

How to open this .net project with no errors

I have this project from github, database on sales and inventory system. But when I open it, it encounters errors.
I really need help on how to open this project with no errors? What should I do to fix this project?
PS: Need a step by step explanation regarding this, I just started databases, so I'm not sure what other tools I should be needing like MS Access or SQL.
The error is self-explanatory: underlined data types cannot be found.
That's means these types are defined in assemblies, currently not available to the compiler.
So in order to build the solution you need to supply these assemblies. There are multiple options, but I'd recommend doing this through NuGet as it is fully automated(you know about it, right?).
The missing assembly is related to the Microsoft.Reporting. So install this and try to build again.

unable to run exe created in Qt 5.3 on different windows machine

I am facing issues to run .exe files created in Qt 5.3 on different windows system. I have included all the .dll files. The issue is that on the latest system with graphics card support the application runs without any issues but on older systems it just gives blanck screen.
I suspect that this has something to do with openGL support for the system.
Is there a way where I can make sure that the application runs without any glitches on all the systems?
Or is it possible to have an application created without oprnGL support needed ?
Hoping to hear some solution for this.

Please note that when I run the .exe on a new system with updated graphics, the screens looks perfect.
Did you include any OpenGL headers in your Qt Project?
Because if you did then there is obviously going to be a dependency on OpenGL for each system and if one of them cannot support this then you either need to decrease the minimum version of GL you are using or remove these headers altogether. It is also worth noting that no matter how hard you try - you will never get the same version of OpenGL to run across every piece of hardware without having to change something.
Did you add the QtOpenGL module?
From what is sounds like, you are not using OpenGL in your application. If this is true then you should remove this module from your .pro file and it should remove the dependency.

AS3 Embedding assets - "Warning: Failed to parse corrupt data"

I've got an AS3 project where I'm trying to compile in several images, a soundtrack, and a video via [Embed] metadata. It's a product requirement that these be embedded, so network transfer is not an option.
I'm getting some really strange behavior - a sort of intermittent corruption of the compiled-in data. Sometimes after the project compiles, I run the swf and it closes immediately and writes "Warning: Failed to parse corrupt data" to the flash log. If I delete the binary and clean the project, sometimes it'll run fine after building it again. Sometimes it doesn't.
This is probably the strangest part about this problem, but sometimes when I see that error, I can physically move the video [Embed] lines to the end of the file, then clean the project, and it will build and run no problem. Sometimes I move them back to the beginning of the file and it builds and runs fine.
It kinda seems like it might be a bug in the compiler. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I'm targeting Flash 10.1 and using sprout (http://projectsprouts.org) to build my project. This is the mxmlc line that's being used to compile (mxmlc Version 4.1.0 build 16076):
mxmlc -as3 -static-link-runtime-shared-libraries=true -debug -default-background-color=#ffffff -default-size 712 400 -output=bin/ProjectName.swf -source-path+=.preprocessed/src -source-path+=.preprocessed/assets .preprocessed/src/ProjectName.as
I've tried both removing the -debug compiler option and adding the -optimize option, but no luck.
Everything is being ran through the GNU C preprocessor for some other tasks, so maybe I'll try removing the preprocessor stuff and hardcoding those variables...I'll try that and post the results tomorrow.
Any insight at all would be much appreciated. Thanks!

This project is going to be compiled dynamically with different assets being embedded into the same codebase, so switching to something like Flash Builder for compilation really isn't an option...it must be done via command-line mxmlc.
UPDATE:
Turns out the corrupted data message was due to images created with Photoshop's "Save for web" feature. If I save them outright as PNG images I don't get the message. However, the intermittent nature of the movie compiling properly still seems to be an issue. Now sometimes when the project is compiled it won't throw any compiler errors, but I get a blank flash player window. Right clicking in flash player shows a context menu with a message that says "Movie not loaded..." This doesn't appear to have anything to do with things being ran through CPP first.

This is apparently a bug in mxmlc under Mac OS X. After posting this, I observed some other really strange behavior, so I switched the whole codebase to Windows 7. Everything works as expected there (still using Project Sprouts as a build tool).
Flash builder is fine with it.
Can you separate your issue for video or music only, or issue is true for both includes?

"Post build event error"

I am using Visual Studio 2008 to build my projects.
I often take existing sample code and edit it and toy around with it, as I am just learning and I'd like to advance my skill.. it's nice to have a template to work with.
That being said, I often get the build error "Post build event failed". This is often accompanied by a "could not find xxx.sbr file" or something. I do not know what an sbr file is, not a "post-build event". Re-building doesn't seem to help, and clearing all the files out before tying another build does not help either.
That being said, the executable still always gets built.
I was wondering:
What is a post build event and what are the implications/causes of its failure?
What is an sbr file? I tried researching this a bit.. a "Source Browse File"? This site seemed pretty informative: http://www.ehow.com/facts_5657521_file-extension-sbr_.html
The problem is, I don't understand why the compiler would complain about not finding this (isn't it supposed to MAKE this?) and what EXACTLY it does ("enables Microsoft Visual Studio to access your source code" - can't it do this anyway?)

post build event is just a command you can have visual studio run after it's finished - maybe to kick off tests or build an installer.
It's in properties->build events in the menu - right click on the project.
The SBR file is used by visual studio to browse sources and lookup which function is in which file. I have had problems where somehow it's internal list of dependencies gets screwed up and it always rebuilds one of them.
Try a clean and rebuild, then try quitting visual studio and deleting the .ncb file
