Anyways of running app without requiring Windows 8 Pro version - windows-phone-8

I have been using Windows 8.1 for creating Windows Store apps. Below is output of winver command.
I have installed necessary updates to start developing universal Windows Store app using JavaScript. When I try to launch app on Windows Phone emulator, I am getting following error.
Unable to start windows phone emulator
It also suggesting to use Windows 8 pro version. Is there anyway of running this without requiring to throw more money on getting Windows 8 Pro version?

Windows Phone Emulator requires Hyper-V which needs Windows Pro version. That's probably why you aren't able to start your Emulator.
As I've posted in comment, I've heard about VirtualBox and an ability to run WP Emulator on it. Some helpful links: other question on SO, VirtualBox forum, video. I'm not sure how it will work (and if) as I haven't tried this.
IMO I would follow WiredPrairie's comment - upgrade or buy inextensive phone.

How do I add the Server Hyper-V Emulator 8.1 to my existing project?

I have Windows Server R2 DataCenter w/Hyper-V running, installed the SDK's for Windows Phone development and the Windows Phone Emulator 8.1 U1 is running. On my Windows 8.1 I use Visual Studio 2013 Community for my Universal App development and its also installed on the server.
As of now I have not made any settings changes on the server, so everything is at its default. I already had a working Universal App project running before deciding to use my server (due to I broke my Windows Phone device the other day) for testing my Window Phone app.
Now I have to do all my Windows Phone development on the Server after making modifications and addition to my Windows App on my development machine (NOTE: Windows 8.1 doesn't have a VT cpu).
So my question is, is it possible to add the Windows Emulator 8.1 U1 to my Windows 8.1 project from the Server? This way I don't to keep going to the Server to test the Windows Phone app.

Thanks!...
As I understand, you'd like to be able to do the following:
You have a machine X for development, which you can't install emulators on
You have a server Y w/ Phone emulator running
You want to deploy your app directly from machine X to server Y
Unfortunately, remote debugging/deployment to an emulator hosted on a different machine is not supported by VS, at least as far as I'm aware. :(
One thing you could try is using Team Foundation Build to automatically build and deploy your app on your R2 server. You could implement it such that anytime you checked code in, it would be available for ad-hoc testing on your server a few minutes later. This would still mean using Remote Desktop to use the remote emulator, but it would automate the work of getting your changes over to the server. That way you wouldn't have to develop directly on the server.

Will application created using TideSDK work on Windows XP?

I am planning to create an exe for windows. My problem is my target clients are using windows XP. As windows XP has become too old, it is very difficult to get any support.
Can any one please guide me whether application created using TideSDK works on windows XP or not?
Yes it will work. I'm currently working on a project who also target Windows XP. (By the way, it also work on windows 8.1). But in my case (am I doing something wrong?), I've to bundle the app from windows 7 to have an installer.

Using WP8 Emulator without Windows 8 Pro or Actual Device

Is there any way to do this by running a WP8 emulator in a virtual machine? I would really like to publish WP8 apps but I need to do some testing and don't want to pay to upgrade to the pro version of windows. Thanks for any help you can give.
Currently there is no solution for this. You have to have a emulator or a device to test the app and testing on a device is mandatory now. There used to be Nokia Remote Device Access but it is deprecated now. http://developer.nokia.com/resources/remote-device-access
Short answer is no.
Windows Phone emulator needs hardware virtualization features (enabled in BIOS) and only the pro version is capable of using them (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_8_editions search for hyper-v).

Visual Studio Error: DEP6250

everytime I try to start my app on my Lumia 1020 I get this error:
Error: DEP6250 : The Device runs on a not supported version of the OS
(I translated it from german...)
I "unlocked" my phone a few minutes ago so I think that this won't be the problem.
I also searched for an update but everything is fine...
I used the free Visual Studio express 2013 for store developers
Does anyone have ideas?
Your problem is that you are probably trying to deploy a Windows Phone 8.1 app to a device running Windows Phone 8.0. That is not possible. You need to Either create a Windows Phone 8.0 app and run it on the device or update your device to Windows Phone 8.1 in order to run WP8.1 apps. Windows Phone 8.0 apps will work on WP8.1 but the other way around will not happen.

Which Windows edition to use as a build server for Windows Phone 8 projects?

We plan to create virtual machine to serve as a build server for our Windows Phone 8 projects. According to the official requirements the WP8 SDK runs only on Windows 8. The question is is it possible to install the VS2012 and WP8 SDK also on Windows Server 2012, or should we just use the supported Windows 8?
Note we use Hyper-V for hosting virtual machines and also we don't need the WP8 emulator on that build server.
As a possible alternative (as I haven't tested your issue of building on WS 2012), why don't you use TFS online? It allows for 5 free projects (privately hosted in the cloud). See more here: http://tfs.visualstudio.com/
More on your issue:
I have tried running the WP8 SDK on Windows 7 without any luck (but it's not supported so I understand). Also, I have tried running the WP8 SDK from a Windows 8 Virtual Machine, but the emulator did not run as Hyper-V can't run on Hyper-V without pursuing this option: http://www.developer.nokia.com/Community/Wiki/Windows_Phone_8_SDK_on_a_Virtual_Machine_with_Working_Emulator
Hope this helps in some way, shape, or form.
On my workstation are installed VS2012, WP8 SDK. All works fine.
