I am creating a website for online exam in which first questions are inserted into database.
That question may be like
`<Script type=JavaScript/text>
Function display()
{
document.write("a");
}
</script>`
is save in database but when i tried display list of all question in gridview that particular question create problem, means it not showing in grid.
Have any idea ?.
Make sure GridView column that displays this data has its HtmlEncode property set to True. This way script tags will be encoded and actually displayed on the page. E.g.
<asp:boundfield datafield="Question"
headertext="Question"
htmlencode="true" />
True is a default value. But perhaps your code/markup changes it for some reason or another.

I am new to Django. I have a requirement where in based on the TypedChoiceField list selection some part of the form should be changed. Meaning for a particular selection I need some fields to be displayed on the webpage and for other selection I need some other fields to be displayed on the webpage.
If there is already a similar page existing, please point me to that page, it will help me a lot.
What I would do is set up a javascript static file (here's a tutorial) that hides and shows elements using the select method.
For example, if you had categories that each needed a different set of fields, you could put all your categories into a <select> element and then using some simple JS, display the desired fields:
$("#select_object").change(function () {
toggleFields();
});
In that case, #select_object would be that <select> element. Whenever it changes (the user selects something) it shows the fields you want.
I know I'm not supposed to use the Viewbag and that I should build a menu using Html.DropDowlListFor() so that i can add attribute bound to the members of the model, BUT, that would involve a pretty extensive code rewrite....
I have a custom controller with a menu:
*.ASCX
<%: Html.DropDownList("CityIDs", new SelectList(ViewBag.cities, "Id", "Name"), "--Select--", new { style = "width:200px" })%>
<%= Html.ValidationMessage("CityIDs") %>
The List populates just fine and I can default to the top item to "--Select--"
The prbolem is that I want the validation error to occur on anything that is not from the viewbag.... how can I achieve this?
Validation for dropdown lists only ensures that something was posted. If you want to ensure that the value that was posted is actually one of a set of "allowed" values, then you'll have to manually do that in your post action:
var cityIds = db.Cities.Select(m => m.Id);
if (!cityIds.Contains(model.CityIDs))
{
ModelState.AddModelError("CityIDs", "You must select one of the available choices.");
}
if (ModelState.IsValid)
{
...
Two things:
Notice that I'm pulling the city ids straight from the database (the actual code you'd need here, of course, depends on your specific implementation). The important thing, though, is that ViewBag only survives a single request, so you can't look for them in ViewBag after posting.
Despite the pluralized name of CityIDs, using the DropDownList helper ensures that only a single selected value will exist. If this is actually supposed to be a multiselect, then you need to use ListBox instead, and update this conditional here to account for check for multiple values.
Populates the top item with Text = "--Select--" and Value = ""
which will post a blank value for CityIDs and cause an error in ModelState.
I am using the djFilteringSelect control to show values in a dropdown as user type a value.
The lookup and typehead is working fine. The user type a letter and the dropdown allow the user to select a value which is then displayed in the dropdown field.
If the user now decide to remove the value first selected so that the combobox is empty and leave the field, then the first value in the list is now automatically filled in.
The consequence of this is that if the user have added a value there is no way to remove the value and leave the box emtpy.
I am using required=false for both the control and the dojo attribute but it does not seem to help. There are also a few other djFilteringSelect attributes I have tried like "Autocomplete" and "trim" but it does not work
Here is the code
<xe:djFilteringSelect id="test" type="select" store="jsondata" searchAttr="data" required="false" labelType="html" invalidMessage="Not valid">
<xe:this.dojoAttributes>
<xp:dojoAttribute name="required" value="false"></xp:dojoAttribute>
</xe:this.dojoAttributes>
</xe:djFilteringSelect>
Initally the field is not required, but if the user have entered a value it is required.
My question is if there a way to prevent the djFilteringSelect control to always populate the field if I have previously added a value
I found someone who solved this in another stack overflow topic, by creating an empty entry in my data store. but I could not get this to work
Dojo: Select of empty value for FilteringSelect while required=false
I do this quite a lot. Right now I don't have a working sample to show you (since I moved to bootstrap - and have to code the selects by manually adding select2 controls) but something like this should do it...
I add an "empty" value at the top of my select - and that seems to work no matter whether I am using a combobox, djCombobox or combobox with select2 from bootstrap. My markup typically looks like:
<xp:comboBox id="inputLocationSelector" value="#{User.catchListType}" disableClientSideValidation="true">
<xp:selectItem itemLabel="(none)" itemValue=""></xp:selectItem>
<xp:selectItems>
<xp:this.value><![CDATA[${Configuration.meta.listLocationTypeOptions}]]></xp:this.value>
</xp:selectItems>
</xp:comboBox>
Then you could specify "(none)", "All" or " " for the "not-selected" value depending on your needs.
Validation is a different thing so just specifying "required=false" does not give you the "empty" value.

I have a ice:dataTable and in each row, there is a inputText. The record list is updated every time when fire a valueChangeListener on some other component.
When it resets the record list, browser shows the previous values for inputText fields in table rows.
I tried both Filter and <meta/> tags. It didn't work for me.
Can somebody tell me how to get rid of this problem?
(Backing bean keeps the actual record list)
This is a JSF problem, take a look at the following answer for details
Input fields hold previous values only if validation failed
To make it simple JSF keeps values in the partialViewContext so all what you have to do to reset all components in the partialViewContext
or if you are using primefaces you can simply add < p:resetInput target="tableId"/> to the field (nested inside) or if you are using OmiFaces then you can use ResetInputAjaxActionListener
okay, this has got to be simple - but I can't seem to find an answer...
I am creating a summary report (using BIRT 2.6.1), and laying out a few specific summary values in a grid (not a table or a cube).
Say it's a simple query:
SELECT decision FROM dataTable
I created a data binding / aggregation (named "sumDecision") on my grid, of a type count, where my expression is:
dataSetRow["decision"]
Now, I've tried to insert this into a grid, either as "data" or "dynamic text" with the column binding:
row["sumDecision"]
But when I run the report, it comes up blank. How would I do this? Using dataSet["decision"] doesn't seem to do anything either.
I would create a Text Item (not Dynamic Text, just Text) and use the "Value Of" tags on the text item. This will give you an expression editor and as long as your grid is bound to the data set in question, you will be able to choose your data element there.
Since you just want to see the text in the grid, make sure and choose "HTML" for the format of the text item.
One solution is to create a table of 1 column, 1 detail - then delete the detail & header rows, and create my grid inside the footer of the table.
From here, I can add a dataset to the table, and create aggregations that work to my hearts content.
Is this the right way to do this, or am I missing something?
