Regarding font Awesome Licenses:
http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/license/
Does the Documentation License apply if I am just referencing the code (CSS, and fonts (otf, eot, svg, ttf, woff?)
My guess is no.

That's how I would interpret it as well:
Applies to all Font Awesome project files that are not a part of the Font or Code licenses.
In short, don't copy and paste the documentation (readme or any of the io site content) without attributing it back to FA.

I am in love with Monokai color scheme. Did the makers of Sublime Text designed it or is it in use before sublime text arrived?
The second part of the question is that can I freely copy it for my own editor. Does anybody holds copyright over it?
Monokai is online blog of designer Wimer Hazenberg who originally created theme for TextMate editor in 2006. See here: http://www.monokai.nl/blog/2006/07/15/textmate-color-theme/
As far as I can see, all other variations and ports of this theme are distributed under various open-source licences so I guess it's free to use but to be sure you can always mail original author, mail is on his blog.

I cannot find fitz.c file in mupdf folders. I can find fitz.h but, for example, I am not able to inspect the function
void fz_debug_obj(fz_obj *obj);
in detail, and other things I need.
Is it possible that some proprietary code is there so that using mupdf is not legal and they sue you when you make a derived work?
mupdf's full source is available via git at git://git.ghostscript.com/mupdf.git or in tar.gz format http://mupdf.googlecode.com/files/mupdf-0.9-source.tar.gz via http://code.google.com/p/mupdf/downloads/list.

I am working on a site, and I am looking for basic profile icons such as:
http://akcdn.okccdn.com/media/img/icons/home_new_user_guide.png
I would use those, but I am sure those are typewritten.
Where would I be able to find similar icons that I can use for an open source project?
Thanks :)
Smashing Magazine has semi-regular free icon roundups, including icons in a wide variety of styles. They're also under a wide variety of licenses, so make sure you check before using one.
FindIcons is a great site where you can find all icons that you need in almost any format and any size (may vary). And you can sort search results by color, icon style, license etc. enjoy!
iconfinder.net is my go-to. It's been around forever.

I'm looking to use the HTML Tidy source code and modify it to add a few more features. Having read the license, I'm not quite sure if I will have to release the source of my modified application? I don't want to.
No, you don't have to. This is just a normal BSD-style licence.
