The other types of emulator works fine only 720p emulator freezes my machine.
Also the 720p emulator works fine from Hyper-V but not from VS2013.
I'm using Windows 8.1 and VS2013.
I got it, Locate :
C:\Users#Local User#\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Phone Tools\CoreCon\11.0
and delete 11.0 folder ,run VS2013 and try agin. Worked for me.

I have an app, written for Windows Phone 8.0 with Coding4Fun version 1.6.1. When I run the app on Windows 10 Phone, Coding4Fun InputPrompt disappears when the keyboard appears. This happens only on device, in all emulators everything is ok. Any idea, what should I do?
I got this solved by upgrading the 8.0 project to 8.1 Silverlight project in VS2013. 8.1 Silverlight app runs now correctly also in Windows 10 phone.
I want to activate windows phone8.1 emulator on visual studio 2013 on my HP Pavilion g6-2245sx Notebook.
I enabled virtual technology from bios then I enabled the hyper-v feature
When I reboot my notebook, I discovered that it hangs at the Windows logo screen screenshot
If I disable Hyper-V again, the notebook boots up.
Does anyone know why my notebook hangs at boot-up when I enable Hyper-V?

Is it possible to run Windows Phone 8 emulator on Windows 8.1 standard edition (not 8.1 Pro)?
I know that normally the emulator requires Hyper-V which is not available in non-Pro version but since Windows Phone 7 emulator works fine without Hyper-V maybe there is a way to run 8's emulator without Hyper-V as well?
I've recently purchased MacBook Pro and I'm not able to run Windows Phone Emulator. I have device but I would also like to test apps on emulator. All hyper-v setting are on but when I try to deploy it says that I have to set up hyper-v.
I'm using Bootcamp to run Windows 8.
Any idea how to do it?
I have had the same problem for some time. I always boot into Windows by pressing the Alt key when I turn on the computer and select the Bootcamp partition to boot from. What seems to make a difference is to boot into OSX, open System Preferences and select the Bootcamp partition to boot from in the Startup Disk panel. Click on Restart to boot into Windows and the phone emulator should now work. Hope this helps.
I was able to use the Windows Phone 8 emulator on my Macbook Pro but I am using Parallels to run Windows.
It was working fine yesterday. Today, morning I just execute the project then I see the pop up error "windows phone emulator was not able to connect to the windows phone operating system; my be some functionality disabled".
