Google Map InfoWindow displays scroll bars in Google Chrome - google-maps

For some reason InfoWindow is displaying scroll bars along with the content, I tried to have custom width and height to InfoWindow but it is not showing up.
I tried the solution from here
Google Map Infowindow not showing properly
Please refer following link
http://server.ashoresystems.com/~contacth/index.php?option=com_business&view=categoryresult&catid=2
Click on 1 (has scroll bars)
Click on 3 (even disturbed)
Thanks for any help.

I found a workaround here.
I made this JSfiddle, displaying the bug and a workaround.
If you do not want to visit external links, here is the workaround description:
Add a wrapping div to your info window content:
var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({
content: '<div class="scrollFix">'+infoWindowContent+'</div>',
[...]
}).open(map);
And use CSS definitions to avoid scrollbars:
.scrollFix {
line-height: 1.35;
overflow: hidden;
white-space: nowrap;
}

To hide the scrollbars, give your content a high z-index stack order, eg.:
var infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({
content: '<div style="z-index:99999">Message appears here</div>',
});
Or, add the following style:
.gm-style-iw {
overflow:hidden!important;
height:55px!important; //for 3 lines of text in the InfoWindow
}

Google maps adds style="overflow: auto;" to the content root element and removes all other attributes, including your style=... or class="scrollFix". You can override overflow: autolike this:
.gm-style-iw div * {
overflow: hidden !important;
line-height: 1.35em;
}

I have an extension that changes the appearance of my scrollbars. That is why the ugly scrollbars appear on Google API info window boxes.
To get rid of the scrollbars and to have a good amount of padding, I just appended the following to my scrollbar appearance code:
div.gm-style-iw.gm-style-iw-c {
padding-right: 12px !important;
padding-bottom: 12px !important;
}
div.gm-style-iw.gm-style-iw-c div.gm-style-iw-d {
overflow: unset !important;
}
You could probably just add that to your site too, to make it a fix for all your users.

Issues with touch scroll on iOS when focusing inputs

I am having some issues with a scrollable div on iOS. When trying to scroll by touching outside an input, it scrolls ok without any problem but when I try to scroll and I touch an input to start scrolling (there are a lot of chances that it happens because it is a div with a lot of inputs) it scrolls the whole window instead scrolling the div. I don't have that problem either in desktop or Android. I found a similar question (iOS HTML Input Tag Stops Scrolling in Scrollable Element) but it doesn't have any answer either. While I don't find any good solution, I decided to prevent the event touchmove when the user touches an input, but it is not exactly what I want.
Maybe someone already faced this problem and can help. I would really appreciate it, thanks in advance.
To get native momentum scrolling on iOS 5+, you'll need:
div {
overflow: scroll;
-webkit-overflow-scrolling: touch;
}
Source: Overflow
Maybe you also need:
div > * {
-webkit-transform: translateZ(0px);
}
Source: Similar question in Stack Overflow
Source 2: Another similar question
This stuff made me crazy too, after testing everything, I found the following answer from Thomas Bachem here working and made it simpler in jquery.
Just add a class scrollFix to the inputs and you are ready to go. (or directly apply that js to any inputs/textarea using$('input, textarea')
Now when you touch and scroll on an input on iOS 8+, the input get all its "pointer-events" disabled (including the problematic behavior). Those "pointer-events" are enabled when we detect a simple touch.
$('.scrollFix').css("pointer-events","none");
$('body').on('touchstart', function(e) {
$('.scrollFix').css("pointer-events","auto");
});
$('body').on('touchmove', function(e) {
$('.scrollFix').css("pointer-events","none");
});
$('body').on('touchend', function(e) {
setTimeout(function() {
$('.scrollFix').css("pointer-events", "none");
},0);
});
Hacky workaround, but by doing this I was able to make scrolling work even on form inputs. The JS forces a reflow in the rendering engine, which is where the bug in iOS8 Safari lies. Changing the height to auto also improved scrolling when focused on a form element, since scrolling is forcibly handled by the browser when focused.
Markup:
<div class="modal-backdrop-container">
<div class="modal-backdrop">
<div class="modal> <!-- Content --> </div>
</div>
</div>
CSS:
.modal-backdrop-container {
z-index: 10;
position: fixed;
top: 0;
right: 0;
bottom: 0;
left: 0;
height: 100%;
}
.modal-backdrop {
z-index: 10;
height: 100%;
background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0.5);
overflow: auto;
overflow-x: hidden;
overflow-y: scroll;
-webkit-overflow-scrolling: touch;
}
.modal {
position: relative;
width: 400px;
max-width: 100%;
margin: auto;
background-color: white;
}
JS:
// reflow when changing input focus
$modalInputs = $('.modal').find(':input');
modalInputs.on('focus', function() {
var offsetHeight = modal.$backdrop[0].offsetHeight;
modal.$backdropContainer.css({
'height': 'auto'
});
});
modalInputs.on('blur', function() {
var offsetHeight = modal.$backdrop[0].offsetHeight;
modal.$backdropContainer.css({
'height': ''
});
});
Not sure of the var offsetHeight = modal.$backdrop[0].offsetHeight; line is needed, since both this and changing the height value should force a reflow.

How to prevent background scrolling when Bootstrap 3 modal open on mobile browsers?

How to prevent background scrolling when Bootstrap 3 modal open on mobile platforms? On desktop browsers the background is prevented from scrolling and works as it should.
On mobile browsers (Safari ios, Chrome ios, etc), when a modal is opened and using your finger to scroll it, the background also scrolls as does the modal. How do I prevent that?
See here: https://github.com/twbs/bootstrap/issues/7501
So try:
$('body').css('overflow','hidden');
$('body').css('position','fixed');
V3.0.0. should have fixed this issue. Do you use the latest version? If so post an issue on https://github.com/twbs/bootstrap/
Try this,
body.modal-open {
overflow: hidden;
position:fixed;
width: 100%;
}
I tried the accepted answer which prevented the body from scrolling but had the issue of scrolling to the top. This should solve both issues.
As a side note, it appears overflow:hidden doesn't work on body for iOS Safari only as iOS Chrome works fine.
var scrollPos = 0;
$('.modal')
.on('show.bs.modal', function (){
scrollPos = $('body').scrollTop();
$('body').css({
overflow: 'hidden',
position: 'fixed',
top : -scrollPos
});
})
.on('hide.bs.modal', function (){
$('body').css({
overflow: '',
position: '',
top: ''
}).scrollTop(scrollPos);
});
$('.modal')
.on('shown', function(){
console.log('show');
$('body').css({overflow: 'hidden'});
})
.on('hidden', function(){
$('body').css({overflow: ''});
});
use this one
No scripts needed.
BS 3 sets a .modal-open class on body that you can use to set the position and overflow values (made with LESS).
body {
font-family:'Open Sans';
margin:0;
&.modal-open {
position:fixed;
overflow:hidden;
.modal {
overflow: scroll;
#media only screen and (min-resolution:150dpi) and (max-width: #screen-sm),
only screen and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio:1.5) {
overflow: scroll;
-webkit-overflow-scrolling: touch;
}
}
}
}
The chosen solution works, however they also snap the background to the top scrolling position. I extended the code above to fix that 'jump'.
//Set 2 global variables
var scrollTopPosition = 0;
var lastKnownScrollTopPosition = 0;
//when the document loads
$(document).ready(function(){
//this only runs on the right platform -- this step is not necessary, it should work on all platforms
if( navigator.userAgent.match(/iPhone|iPad|iPod/i) ) {
//There is some css below that applies here
$('body').addClass('platform-ios');
//As you scroll, record the scrolltop position in global variable
$(window).scroll(function () {
scrollTopPosition = $(document).scrollTop();
});
//when the modal displays, set the top of the (now fixed position) body to force it to the stay in the same place
$('.modal').on('show.bs.modal', function () {
//scroll position is position, but top is negative
$('body').css('top', (scrollTopPosition * -1));
//save this number for later
lastKnownScrollTopPosition = scrollTopPosition;
});
//on modal hide
$('.modal').on('hidden.bs.modal', function () {
//force scroll the body back down to the right spot (you cannot just use scrollTopPosition, because it gets set to zero when the position of the body is changed by bootstrap
$('body').scrollTop(lastKnownScrollTopPosition);
});
}
});
The css is pretty simple:
// You probably already have this, but just in case you don't
body.modal-open {
overflow: hidden;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
}
//only on this platform does it need to be fixed as well
body.platform-ios.modal-open {
position: fixed;
}
If you use jQuery you can do this with scrollTop
Save the body's vertical scroll position;
Disable scroll on the body;
Show modal;
Close modal;
Reenable scroll on body;
Set saved scroll position.
#modal {
bottom: 0;
position: fixed;
overflow-y: scroll;
overflow-x: hidden;
top: 0;
width: 100%;
}
$('.open-modal').click(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
$('#modal').toggle();
scrollTo = $('body').scrollTop();
$('body').css("position", "fixed");
});
$('.close-modal').click(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
$('#modal').toggle();
$('body').css("position", "static");
$('body').animate({scrollTop: scrollTo}, 0);
});
The above answers did not help so what I did was:
.modal {
-webkit-overflow-scrolling: touch;
}
My particular problem was when I increased the modal size after loading.
It's a known iOS issue, see here. Since it does not break anything else the above solution was enough for my needs.
Had an issue with this as well, iPhone + Safari where needed to add:
position: fixed;
As mentioned elsewhere, this created a scroll-to-top issue. Fix that worked for me was to capture the position to top upon modal open, and then animate to that position on modal close
upon modal open:
scrollTo = $('body').scrollTop();
$('body').css("position", "fixed");
upon modal close
$('body').css("position", "static");
$('body').animate({scrollTop: scrollTo}, 0);
Hey guys so i think i found a fix. This is working for me on iphone and android at the moment. Its a mash up of hours upon hours of searching, reading and testing. So if you see parts of your code in here credit goes to you lol.
#media only screen and (max-device-width:768px){
body.modal-open {
// block scroll for mobile;
// causes underlying page to jump to top;
// prevents scrolling on all screens
overflow: hidden;
position: fixed;
}
}
body.viewport-lg {
// block scroll for desktop;
// will not jump to top;
// will not prevent scroll on mobile
position: absolute;
}
body {
overflow-x: hidden;
overflow-y: scroll !important;
}
The reason the media specific is on there is on a desktop i was having issues with when the modal would open all content on the page would shift from centered to left. Looked like crap. So this targets up to tablet size devices where you would need to scroll. There is still a slight shift on mobile and tablet but its really not much. Let me know if this works for you guys. Hopefully this puts the nail in the coffin
I thought you might forget to add attribute data-toggle="modal" to the link or button that triggers the modal popup event. Firstly, I also got the same problem but, after adding the attribute above it works well for me.
This might be a bit like beating a dead horse here.. but, my currently implemented solution on DIY modals via vanilla JS:
On modal show:
if (document.body.style.position !== 'fixed') {
document.body.style.top = -window.scrollY + 'px';
document.body.style.position = 'fixed';
}
On modal hide:
document.body.style.position = '';
window.scrollTo(0, -parseInt(document.body.style.top, 10));
document.body.style.top = '';
As additional to #Karthick Kumar answer from bootstrap docs
show is triggered at the start of an event
shown is triggered on the completion of an action
... so it should be:
$('.modal')
.on('show.bs.modal', function (){
$('body').css('overflow', 'hidden');
})
.on('hide.bs.modal', function (){
// Also if you are using multiple modals (cascade) - additional check
if ($('.modal.in').length == 1) {
$('body').css('overflow', 'auto');
}
});
I've found a simple javascript/jquery solution which utilizes the bootstrap modal events.
My solution also fixes the position:fixed problem where it scrolls the background page all the way back to the top instead of staying in place when modal window is opened/closed.
See details here
I know this has been answered but none of these solutions worked for me. I needed to take a different approach. I am using PhoneGap and am compiling my code natively so I had to move the background to the body. I hope this helps someone else. Or if there a cleaner way to do this please feel free to comment...
$(document).on('shown.bs.modal', '.modal', function (e) {
$("#" + e.target.id).find(".modal-backdrop").css("z-index", $("#" + e.target.id).css("z-index")).insertBefore("#" + e.target.id);
});
Using position:fixed has the side effect of scrolling the body to the top.
If you do not your body to scroll to the top, DO NOTE use position:fixed. Just disable touchmove on the body if the modal is open.
Note: The modal itself is still able to scroll on touch (if larger than the screen).
CSS:
body.modal-open {
overflow: hidden;
width: 100%;
/* NO position:fixed here*/
}
JS:
$('.modal').on('show.bs.modal', function (ev) { // prevent body from scrolling when modal opens
$('body').bind('touchmove', function(e){
if (!$(e.target).parents().hasClass( '.modal' )){ //only prevent touch move if it is not the modal
e.preventDefault()
}
})
})
$('.modal').on('hide.bs.modal', function (e) { //unbind the touchmove restrictions from body when modal closes
$('body').unbind('touchmove');
})
EDIT:
Note, for very small modals, you might have to add the following line to your CSS:
.modal-dialog{
height: 100%;
}
Courtesy of JDiApice who synthesized and extended the work of other contributors at iOS 8.x modal scroll issue #14839:
#media only screen and (max-device-width:768px) {
body.modal-open {
// block scroll for mobile;
// causes underlying page to jump to top;
// prevents scrolling on all screens
overflow: hidden;
position: fixed;
}
}
body.viewport-lg {
// block scroll for desktop;
// will not jump to top;
// will not prevent scroll on mobile
position: absolute;
}
body {
overflow-x: hidden;
overflow-y: scroll !important;
}

Unlike the other solutions we tried, it does not scroll the background to the top after the popup modal closes.
I open a modal after a modal and fact the error on modal scrolling, and this css solved my problem:
.modal {
overflow-y: auto;
padding-right: 15px;
}

PhoneGap/Cordova: Prevent horizontal scrolling

I have an app built on Cordova and on some of my pages I am able to scroll horizontally out of my content into white space.
This is weird as I have nothing there that extends beyond my #wrapper, which is set to width: 100%.
So I was wondering if there was a way I could disable horizontal scrolling in the app altogether?
UPDATE:
Code on page as requested:
body {
background-color: #fff;
font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color: #b7b8b9;
height: 100%;
width: 100%;
}
iframe{
border: none;
width: 100%;
/*margin-top: 50px;*/
}
#header{
height: 50px;
width: 100%;
}
<body>
<div id="wrapper">
<div id="header">
<div class="headerback">Home</div>
<div class="headerrefresh"><script>var pathname = window.location.pathname;</script><script>document.write('Refresh')</script></div>
<div class="headertitle"><h2>Get the Look</h2></div>
</div><!--HEADER-->
<iframe src="http://www.mbff.com.au/getthelook"></iframe>
</div>
</body>
Try to debug your page in Chrome (webkit) with the exact dimensions of your device. This solves most rendering issues for me.
I do not know the specific issue here, but it looks like one of your elements is flowing outside of the wrapper. You could for example try this in your css:
div.wrapper { overflow: hidden; width: inherit; }
Although it might be a better idea to find out why your page is expanding horizontally?
I was looking for the solution to this problem for a long time.
Finally I solved it in the following way.
I set style for bodyand html tags:
position: fixed;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
overflow: hidden;
After that I've added div to body and set the style for it:
overflow-y: auto;
height: 100%;
So, I have got fixed body, which contains div with vertical scroll bar.
// Phone Gap disable only horizontal scrolling in Android.
// Add this code in your Phone Gap Main Activity.Initially Declare the variable
private float m_downX;
//Then add this code after loadUrl
this.appView.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener() {
public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) {
switch (event.getAction()) {
case MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN: {
// save the x
m_downX = event.getX();
}
break;
case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE:
case MotionEvent.ACTION_CANCEL:
case MotionEvent.ACTION_UP: {
// set x so that it doesn't move
event.setLocation(m_downX, event.getY());
}
break;
}
return false;
}
});
Try adding the following code to your .html file:
document.body.addEventListener('touchmove', function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
}, false);
For the sake of completeness, I thought the answer which makes use of the official method of doing such a thing via the preference tag should be added:
<preference name="DisallowOverscroll" value="true"/>
Supported by Android and iOS according the documentation.
Default: false
Set to true if you don't want the interface to display any feedback when users scroll past the beginning or end of content. On iOS, overscroll gestures cause content to bounce back to its original position. on Android, they produce a more subtle glowing effect along the top or bottom edge of the content.
In my case it was broken styling like below
<body>
<div style="margin-left:5%; width:100%">Content</div>
</body>
which cause div to became horizontally bigger than body. I could see scroll when app run in browser. Set width to 90% (as it was initially intended) fixed the problem.
Generally, as it already pointed out here, enough to find element with wrong style which makes your page expanding horizontally and fix it.
BTW DisallowOverscroll was not helpful in above case.

Google Maps API V3 : weird UI display glitches (with screenshot)

Anyone with any ideas on what's causing this weird glitch with the google maps UI components, be really grateful to hear from you!
the map is created with:
var options = {
zoom: <?php echo $this->zoom ?>,
center: new google.maps.LatLng(<?php echo $this->centre_lat ?>, <?php echo $this->centre_lon ?>),
mapTypeControl: false,
mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP
};
var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map_canvas'), options);
and the glitch is the same even with no markers.
We ran into the same problem. The css designer was using this style:
style.css
img {max-width: 100%; }
Instead of disabling the zoom control, we fixed the problem by overriding the img style for map_canvas elements like so:
style.css:
#map_canvas img { max-width: none; }
The zoom control now displays correctly.
Setting "img max-width:100%" is a technique employed in responsive/fluid web site design so that images re-size proportionally when the browser is re-sized. Apparently some css grid systems have started setting this style by default. More info about fluid images here: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/fluid-images/ Not sure why this conflicts with the google map...
With latest version of google maps api you need this:
<style>
.gm-style img { max-width: none; }
.gm-style label { width: auto; display: inline; }
</style>
Looks like a problem with the zoom control. Try adding zoomControl:false to your options.
In fact it seems the normal zoom slider is positioned off to the left of the page (use Firebug > Inspect Element). Could be a CSS conflict?
Well I got the fix for this:
On your CSS you added something like:
img {max-width: 100%; height: auto;}
try not to make it global and it should fix you :)
This worked for me:
#map img { max-width: none !important; } (from Patrick's answer)
the attribute "!important" makes sure to override any other style, #map is the id assigned when you declare the new object Gmaps:
<script>
map = new GMaps({
div: '#map', <- your id
lat: *******,
lng: *******,
scrollwheel: false,
panControl: true,
....
...
</script>
if you are using the Dreamweaver fluid grid feature your default set up should look like this:
img, object, embed, video {
max-width: 100%;
}
/* IE 6 does not support max-width so default to width 100% */
.ie6 img {
width:100%;
}
Try this:
object, embed, video {
max-width: 100%;
}
#map_canvas img { max-width: none; }
/* IE 6 does not support max-width so default to width 100% */
.ie6 img {
width:100%;
}
just replace the code as it is.
Bootstrap (as of version 2.3.2) messes with images in the same way as in the accepted answer.
In fact, I suspect that the design used in Haroldo's website uses Bootstrap.
I'm just posting this because no one else mentioned Bootstrap, and someone might be looking for a Bootstrap-specific solution.
I ran into this problem on my Square Space website. I did not have access to the CSS style sheet. Since you are embedding an html doc, you can just use inline CSS to fix the problem. I modified the style of the container instead of making a site wide change (which I couldn't do). Here is what I did:
<style>
html, body, #map-canvas {
height: 600px;
width: 100%;
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px
}
#map-canvas img {max-width: none;}
</style>

Deactivate or remove the scrollbar on HTML

I want to de-activate or remove the vertical scrollbar in an HTML page.
How to do that ?
Thanks.
If you really need it...
html { overflow-y: hidden; }
What I would try in this case is put this in the stylesheet
html, body{overflow:hidden;}
this way one disables the scrollbar, and as a cumulative effect they disable scrolling with the keyboard
put this code in your html header:
<style type="text/css">
html {
overflow: auto;
}
</style>
Meder Omuraliev suggested to use an event handler and set scrollTo(0,0). This is an example for Wassim-azirar. Bringing it all together, I assume this is the final solution.
We have 3 problems: the scrollbar, scrolling with mouse, and keyboard.
This hides the scrollbar:
html, body{overflow:hidden;}
Unfortunally, you can still scroll with the keyboard:
To prevent this, we can:
function keydownHandler(e) {
var evt = e ? e:event;
var keyCode = evt.keyCode;
if (keyCode==38 || keyCode==39 || keyCode==40 || keyCode==37){ //arrow keys
e.preventDefault()
scrollTo(0,0);
}
}
document.onkeydown=keydownHandler;
The scrolling with the mouse just naturally doesn't work after this code, so we have prevented the scrolling.
For example: https://jsfiddle.net/aL7pes70/1/
This makes it so if before there was a scrollbar then it makes it so the scrollbar has a display of none so you can't see it anymore. You can replace html to body or a class or ID. Hope it works for you :)
html::-webkit-scrollbar {
display: none;
}
In HTML
<div style="overflow: hidden;">
in CSS
overflow: hidden;
you can also end scrolling for x or y separately
overflow-y: hidden; /* Hide vertical scrollbar */
overflow-x: hidden; /* Hide horizontal scrollbar */
