but still i am getting same error. I am trying to restore mysqldump of size 160MB which has many BLOB contents .

Try changing the max_allowed_packet setting to a larger value in the server.
Open "my.ini/cnf", located in your MySQL installation folder, and under [mysqld] section change "max_allowed_packet = 64M" and don't forget to restart the server. You can check the value by executing:
SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'max_allowed_packet';

MySQL “#2006 - MySQL server has gone away” in phpMyAdmin

I am trying to upload a 10 MB CSV Excel file with over 100k entries, and I keep getting the "MySQL server has gone away" error in phpMyAdmin. I am using WAMP Server and I changed all the variables I could find the in my.ini file, but with no results. Neither after restarting the server.
I've changed:
max_allowed_packet = 1000M
innodb_log_file_size = 500M
innodb_log_buffer_size = 800M
innodb_lock_wait_timeout = 600
The whole my.ini file looks like this:

Try increasing the setting for wait_timeout
If that doesn't work, try increasing for interactive_timeout.
Also, increasing the lock times on innodb is at the query level; this means how long a query will wait to acquire a lock if another query has the lock. This will then cause an to be thrown back to the client similar to the effect of 1205 Lock wait timeout exceeded.

Adding skip-grant-tables to MySQL my.ini does not seem to be working

I am trying to reset a lost root#localhost password, as explained in this question.
Adding the line skip-grant-tables directly underneath [wampmysqld]/[mysqld] is a well known way to gain access in order to reset passwords, but in my case this not doing anything.
After making sure that MySQL is not running, editing the file, restarting it and opening the MySQL Console, a password prompt appears, so I am stuck.
What could I possibly be overlooking?
My stack is WAMP 2.5, with MySQL 5.6.17.

You can just start the server with skip-grant-tables from the command line:
mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables &
If you're doing it just to reset the root password, go for /etc/mysql/my.cnf and add the
[mysqld]
skip-grant-tables
there. This one works.

xampp mysql server not starting

Help please I can't start the sql database server in xampp. This was after upgrading to os x Yosemite. This is the error message I get for phpmyadmin:
Welcome to phpMyAdmin
Error
MySQL said: Documentation
2002 - No such file or directory
The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured).
Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.
Thank you so much!
Here is the command I tried in terminal (which I got from another person on stack overflow who seemed to have a similar problem):
sudo /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/bin/mysql.server start
Here was the error message:
Starting MySQL
. ERROR! The server quit without updating PID file (/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/var/mysql/imac.local.pid).

# if you mistyped the password in master-password and the slave fails to

# change in this file to the variables' values below will be ignored and
# overridden by the content of the master.info file, unless you shutdown
# the slave server, delete master.info and restart the slaver server.
# For that reason, you may want to leave the lines below untouched

For all of you to know I ended up doing a fresh reinstall of xampp. It now works fine! Here was what I did:
backup files and database (if possible)
quit 'manager os x'
run the uninstaller
delete the xampp folder
download xampp from the site
Run the installer for xampp
run security program in terminal
move your stuff back to the xampp folder
All in all I found that xampp (1.8.3-5) is compatible with OS X Yosemite.

WampServer - ERROR 2003 <HY000>: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' <10061>

I've installed WampServer and I want to use MySQL , but I've got an error: "ERROR 2003 : Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' <10061>". I have no idea how to solve it. I've tried everything and it still doesn't work.
