I have a Windows Phone 8 app in which i want to show a title and description. my description is very big so i want to show some characters first with a read more button and then when the user clicks that button, he will be able to see the remaining description. how can i achieve this and what are the guidelines for creating read more button in Window Phone 8? How can i achieve this in Windows Phone 8.

You could achieve this by switching the Description text:
public class MyClass : INotifyPropertyChanged {
private string _shortText;
private string _fullText;
private bool _showFullText;
public string Text {
get
{
if (_showFullText)
return _fullText;
else
return _shortText;
}
}
public void Switch() {
_showFullText = !_showFullText;
OnPropertyChanged("Text");
}
}
Then you put a TextWrapping TextBlock for {Binding Text} and an underlined TextBlock where you call the Switch Method in the Tap event.

I have used focus() method, but it does not work on Mozilla Firefox. I have used the following code in asp .net:
protected void drgBranches_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
txtLoginName.Text = drgBranches.SelectedValue;
txtLoginName.Focus();
}
You can just the regular focus
<input id="target" type="text" value="Field 1">
$("#target").focus(function() {
alert( "Handler for .focus() called." );
});

in our code we sometimes have this
public class Demo{
public String value(){
if (something){
while(true){
...
}
}
}
}
I'm currently trying to configure my checkstyle configuration to force developers to have a space before '{':
public class Demo {
public String value() {
if (something) {
while(true) {
...
}
}
}
}
but I can't get it to work. Does anybody know the correct checkstyle configuration for this particular setup? I want to check this code as part of my gradle build
If you use eclipse you could have a look at "Window/Preferences/Java/Code Style/Formatter".
You can set almost everything.
For your problem :
If you want use checkstyle you can go to "Window/Preferences/Checkstyle/New ...".
And doing some thing like that :

As the question suggests, is there a way to edit the styling of the drop down list of previously inputted text when typing in an input tag?
That is browser specific so no. Instead, you could build a custom system where you save the previously entered values in 'local storage' via javascript and then use an auto-complete library to display the previous entries how you like.
Some example code:
http://jsfiddle.net/R2TGL/
<input type="text" id="savedInput"/>
window.onload = function(){
$('#savedInput').autocomplete({
source:JSON.parse(localStorage.previousInputs)
});
$('#savedInput').change(function(){
if( localStorage.previousInputs == undefined ) {
localStorage.previousInputs = JSON.stringify([]);
}
var prevArray = JSON.parse(localStorage.previousInputs);
prevArray.push($(this).val());
localStorage.previousInputs = JSON.stringify(prevArray);
$('#savedInput').autocomplete({
source:JSON.parse(localStorage.previousInputs)
});
});
}

I am trying to make a HTML page list members of a list from a database, I have made the connections already but when using a dropdown to select the name of the list using an onclick, I would like it to display the list members below. I have tried to incorporate an onclick function but it keeps linking to another page when I want it to still stay on the same page but list the members.
<script type="text/javascript">
function changeFunc()
{
var selectBox = document.getElementById("nameoflist");
var selectedValue = selectBox.options[selectBox.selectedIndex].value;
alert(selectedValue);
} </script>
<select name="nameoflist" onchange="changeFunc();">
<option value="" disabled="disabled" selected="selected">Select Recipients</option>
<option value="All Recipients">All Recipients</option>
<option value="Tech List">TechList</option></select>
Look forward to your help!

Save a couple lines, pass in this in your inline handler, and use that in your func:
function changeFunc(obj)
{
var selectedValue = obj.options[obj.selectedIndex].value;
alert(selectedValue);
}
<select name="nameoflist" onchange="changeFunc(this);">

A part of my code looks like this, a simple hyperlink to an image.
<img src="Logo.jpg" height= "120"; width="280"; />
I would want it such that i can change the link as many times as i want but only through a textbox in another form.
Try this:
href='<%= url %>'
and in code behind:
Public url As String ' is global
in button:
url= TextBox1.Text
