Is there any Maps API to change street name on particular map? - google-maps

Is it possible to allow user to change the name of the streets in embedded map? Does any API provide such feature? For example, I want to allow users to make their 'alternative map' and get link to it.

With OpenStreetMap this is possible of course but requires some work and suitable hardware. You have to server your own tiles and provide access to the underlying database with the help of one of the many different editors or via a custom solution. If you don't want to serve the whole world you can also fill your database with one of the available extracts.

Finding API and accessing it on this particular site

I am trying to identify whether this site "wkotool.nl" has an API.
I want to use this API to write a little script that can access the data for a specific location.
The site for example shows locations of groundwater wells and normally I would go to the site enter a specific location and click all points within a specific radius. From there I always need to type over the coordinates, names etc. This is very time consuming and I was wondering if somebody could show me how to access this specific API and retrieve data from it.
Thank you!

Is there a platform agnostic HTML5 map service?

I have a Blazor combined client/server side app that uses HTML5 geolocation to return the user device latitude/longitude. I'd like to be able to provide the general "area" the user is in - a bit of a confirmation to the user the thing is working; and someday potentially enable the user to get lat/long for other locations as well. I have not been able to find a native HTML5 map service to go along with its geolocation capabilities, and in fact nearly every search leads to how to connect to Google Maps. I'm using Blazor, though, because I want the app to run and function on essentially every browser, so want to avoid Google Maps or Apple Maps, etc. I also checked quick on GitHub for potential API solutions but didn't see any. Ideas? Thanks!

Free geocode API allowing store names and coordinates

My application should allow users to store events and their locations and then perform search on them - so I need those locations in my database with their names and latitudes/longitudes. Google API doesnt allow storing anything else but place IDs so I have to find something else that can autocomplete/suggest places on UI and allow storing it my database.
Does anyone know such a good service?
You can simply add your points in your DB based on each point Lat & Long values. So when user is searching somewhere you have his current location(Lat-Long), Therefore you can search in your DB and get the distance of each saved point with current location and retrieve the results you want to show (i.e in JSON format).
In client-side use some auto-complete jquery library to show the nearby places and somethings like that (with additional information).
Google Map API has a service that you can show some custom marker on the map with your custom configuration like marker icon, description and etc. You can show your additional information in description as HTML format.
You can see some example here:

Hope these tips would be helpfull. Regards.

So I can use some Google's data under some conditions.

Is it possible to customize fusion table( should point my database ) to use fusionTableLayer?

I would like to create a Map by the excel sheet values (.csv files too).
By using FusionTableLayer API, I think it is possible. At first step we could upload the excel values to the database. Then we create a map by the database annotated value. It is very good idea. This is what I wanted. But One thing is problem to me with FusionTableLayer API is google's Drive has been pointed for the fusion table. It means that all my business data will be shared with google. I don't want to be like that.
Instead of Google's drive My database has to be pointed out. From my database I would like to create a map with FusionTableLayer API. I have been searching through internet, I dont find this is possible. But I believe that it is possible. Please guile me to specify the way to trigger it out ?
Regards,
ArunRaj.
If you want to use your own database, then you cannot use the Fusion Table API as it's meant for the Google Infrastructure. You will have to find another API to take care of this.
One workaround I can suggest to you is to parse points you have as drawing objects for your map. So for each point, create new google.maps.Marker with the respective coordinates. Each region can be denoted with google.maps.Polygon, and lines with google.maps.Polyline. There's plenty more you can do, but it's just a bit more work, and possibly less secure depending on your implementation. Furthermore, you can also add info windows to each of those areas using the Google Maps API by attaching respective listeners to those objects created.
Hope this helps!

List businesses - Google Maps APIs Terms of Service

The website I am working on should keep a list of many businesses located at different cities. I add those business manually into my database, and later need to display them with Google Maps using markers (so the main purpose of the map is to display a list of businesses). The map is public and no fees are charged. I am not retrieving businesses' information from Google. What I do not understand is whether I am allowed to use Google Maps to display a list of businesses or not.
I can not quite understand this point of their ToS
10.2 (b) No Business, Residential, or Telephone Listings Services. You must not display business listings Content in any Maps API Implementation that has the primary purpose of making available business, residential address, or telephone directory listings.
Does this basically say that I can implement a service to list businesses, but I cannot query Google to obtain information about other businesses and add them to my own list?
Thank you
Firstly I am not a lawyer but I have taken a good look at the Google Maps licensing and I would read it the opposite way that you have read it. I think that displaying business listings on a Google map violates their ToS.
10.2 Restrictions on the Types of Applications that You are Permitted to Build with the Maps API(s). Except as explicitly permitted in Section 8 (Licenses from Google to You) or the Maps APIs Documentation, you must not (nor may you permit anyone else to) do any of the following:
....
(b) No Business, Residential, or Telephone Listings Services. You must
not display business listings Content in any Maps API Implementation
that has the primary purpose of making available business, residential
address, or telephone directory listings.
It seems to me the criteria that is being evaluated is the type of service you are offering and if the type of offering is a business listing service (which it sounds like you service is) then you are not allowed to use the Google map API. This makes sense as it would be hard to differentiate that sort of business listing from the service that Google provide.
However, there are a number of free options you could use to put markers on maps that you should look at which avoid this issue. These include:
OpenLayers
GeoExt
PolyMaps
Leaflet
As you have created your own database I suggest you to create a web service of it and then use that data to display it on map.
Refer this link..This one is the best for your question. It explain each every steps from DB to Google Maps.

Another thing which you can do is that you can upload the bulk data on Google's Places and then you can use Google's Places API to fetch the data. But one thing which you i would like to point is that if you use Places API then it will provide you maximum 20 results. Refer this links.
Bulk data upload
Hope this will help you....
