HTML5 geolocation demo not working - html

I'm using this example to test geolocation API http://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml5_geolocation_error
But, I always get Location information is unavailable. message. I tested it on different browsers, same problem. I have geolocation enabled in browser.
Also, I tried uploading this to a local server (XAMPP), but problem remains (same error code).
What am I doing wrong here, its taking me hours now?...I appreciate any help on this, thank you.
EDIT: When I try to locate myself using this service http://www.hostip.info/index.html its giving me error message ... actually we haven't a clue.. When I type in some random IP address, works perfect. Whats going on here?

Getting Serial port info on Chrome Web Serial API

I'm using the Chrome Web Serial API. So far it's working fine, but now and I'm trying to get the (already opened) port metadata (port name, device ID, etc.) and I'm a bit lost.
Here are the steps to follow:
https://wicg.github.io/serial/#getting-serial-port-metadata
but so far I cannot get the information.
If I try by navigating the port class, the DevTools console trows "ƒ () { [native code] }".
I cannot find a suitable example of how to implement this.
Does anyone have a hint?
Thanks in advance!!
Daniel.
It seems like it hasn't been implemented in Chromium yet. Keep in mind that the specs are sort of guides for vendors to follow when implementing a feature, but the actual shipped implementation can differ.
If you check the Web Serial API's code in the Chromium repo for Chrome 80 (current version at the time of writing) and 84.0.4112.1 you'll see that they only include the following methods:
open
readable
writable
getSignals
setSignals
close

Strange Angular PWA Service worker behaviour when deployed

This issue has taken up all my day, and I can't figure out whats going on
I can see that my service worker is registered , however "sometimes" when I click offline in developer tools the ServiceWorker for my domain just disappears!!
But this is the main problem when I reload the app I see the following behaviour.
You can see the ngsw.json is loaded twice and the main.js is loaded 3 times! main.d3ae2084xxxx && main.bbe5073dxxxx && then main.d3ae2084xxxx again!
If I inspect the response of both ngsw.json requests you can see that both show main.d3ae2084xxxx as the correct version of main.js but it still loads main.bbe5073dxxxx...
First ngsw.json request
Second ngsw.json request
Whats even more frustrating is the actual loaded version is the previous main.bbe5073dxxxx...!!!!
If anyone has any ideas how this can be happening please let me know.
Update... So found out about this excellent little endpoint
https://you-app-url/ngsw/state
This will give you lots of debug information about your service worker.
In my case this
Driver state: EXISTING_CLIENTS_ONLY (Degraded due to failed
initialization: Hash mismatch (cacheBustedFetchFromNetwork):
https://dev-xxxx.net/main.eb8468bb3ed28f02d7c2.js: expected
b5601102b721e0cf777691d327dc965d40d1c96e, got
83c18fdb4a5942c964a31c119a57e0b8e16fe46e (after cache busting)
So looks like this is going to be a CDN issue of some sort in my case, will update with an answer when I know for sure.
You've probably resolved this by now, but I had the same issue which turned out to be due to the CDN (Cloudflare in my instance) was optimising the content.
In Cloudflare the key option is 'Auto minify' that needs to be disabled.

Error: The requested URL “[no URL]”, is invalid

Originally posted as a reply to: Error: The requested URL "[no URL]", is invalid
I get this error but only with one specific website (which is my own). This must be linked to the website as it is happening on 3 different machines on 3 different networks (personal comp on personal wifi, phone on 4/3g and work pc on work network) and no other sites. Also, it happens no matter what you put after the domain name, weather its a real page or just '/sdjhlgajhsdfg'.
A reply to the other post said that it looks like somthing to do with akamai. As this is my site, i went to the CPanel and disabled the akamai options (over 24 hours ago). i do not need any kind of caching like this as it is a simple html css site with only a hand full of mostly text pages. The most complicated thing on the site is a downloadable pdf which i have actually just taken down.
The error ref number changes every time you refresh the page.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
I finally found some time to contact my webserver provider.
I can see that the domain has been removed from the Akamai server.
However, the CNAME which was pointing to Akamai server was causing the
issue. I have removed the CNAME record.
after about half an hour its back up. theres some display issues with the layout, but at lease its displaying the relevant content and not the error.
When you see Invalid URL error, this indicates that the hostname (domain) is not recognized by the Akamai's network (production or staging).
More info at: https://control.akamai.com/search/kb/11327
Hope this helps.
If there is a reverse proxy in before akamai you may get this error.
Client > Reverse Proxy > Akamai > Your API, will give this error.
Let your reverse proxy strip "Host" header and sent by "Client" and try again.
That worked for me in a setup like this:
Browser > Caddy Server > Akamai > My API
in akamai i had to add a new property manager entry for the new url/cert then activate it in prod.

Calling Rest service with json return, issue in chrome

I have a Rest service which if I execute it in IE or Firefox it executes fine.
http://MyPC.com/Services/REST.svc/Work/Lists?$format=json
But when I try to execute it in Chrome I just get this error.
http://MyPC.com/Services/REST.svc/Work/Lists?$format=json:1 GET http://MyPC.com/Services/REST.svc/Work/Lists?$format=json net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET
Has anyone experienced this before and find a way to resolve it.
I've played around with the bindings in the config with no success
Just a note, I tried another Rest Service which I wasn't hosting and it worked in both IE and Chrome.
So it doesn't look like the issue is with Chrome.
I just want to add I didn't write any of these services, I'm still figuring it all out
Seems it sending the windows credentials through in binding did the trick, Chrome for some reason throws a connection issue when it didn't have the credentials for the service where as IE and Firefox seem to sk for the credentials when its required

bungie.net stats api

Has anyone tried accessing bungie.net reach stats api (statistics from Halo Matchmaking)?
As described here http://www.bungie.net/fanclub/statsapi/Group/Resources/Article.aspx?cid=545064
I can't seem to get any data returned, for example if i use this (with correct API key and gamertag values of course) ignore the first 2 asterisks ...
I don't receive a response - but no errors either, am i doing something wrong?
looking to use this for a Titanium (appcelerator) app eventually.
Any help or advice welcome, thanks in advance.
Unfortunately the API is not yet live to the public. I asked in a Private Message. They didn't say when it would be live.
In the Docs that Achronos posted, he put spaces in the URL's, I'm not sure if those are supposed to be there or not, so I tried it with the spaces and I got a 403 Forbidden error page. When I remove all the spaces, I get an error page that says:
Request Error
The server encountered an error processing the request. See server logs for more details.
I kinda can't check the server logs though... Bungie did say they were having some issues with the site though, so this might be a biproduct of that. I want them to get it working soon though, I wanna see just what it can do!
