Can you install mySQL Cluster for free?
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/cluster/7.0.html#win32
This will only give you the .zip files. But it doesn't contain the MSI installer. without the installer, how do you even have contents under
C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 7.0\data?
I think you have to pay for the MSI in order to install mySQL Cluster properly right?
I tried to unzip the files, follow the instructions, updated the config files, but never work.
Can someone confirm?
Thanks
A couple of options. If you don't mind having an SSH server running on your Windows machines then you can use the new auto-installer from labs.mysql.com.
An alternative is to follow the instructions from http://downloads.mysql.com/tutorials/cluster/mysql_wp_cluster_quickstart_windows.pdf - basically you just manually copy the data files.

I am trying to install MySQL 8.0.23 version from the download page. I ran the .msi file several times and every time, I got the error "mysql installer did not find packages in the current bundle suitable for installation windows". I tried to find a solution online for more than an hour and I could not get the resolution to problem. I even ran it through CMD using admin privileges and still no use. I am installing on a laptop with the following configuration.
Windows 10, 64Bit with 16GB RAM, i7 Hexacore, 1TB SSD.
Can someone please help?
I suspect there is currently a server issue or something on Oracle/MySQL's end, I have tried the 8.0.22 and 5.7.33 Web installers and neither of them are able to find the list of packages to install.
One solution is to download the larger offline installer.
First you must uninstall the MySQL Web Installer, this can be done by opening Apps & Features, finding MySQL Installer - Community and clicking Uninstall.
Then from the MySQL Downloads page, download the larger 400MB MSI installer, once launched you should see a list of Available Products to choose from
Uninstalling the "MySQL Installer - Community" and redownloading and installing the full installer ~422MB from Downloads page worked for me.
After wasting so much time, I find the solution to install MySQL 8 on Windows x64 (64-bit) system.
Run the msi installer
Next (Even it wouldn't work)
Go to below path instead
C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Installer for Windows\Product Cache
Right click -> Install
mysql-8.0.23-winx64.msi
mysql-connector-c++-8.0.23-win32.msi
mysql-connector-c++-8.0.23-winx64.msi
mysql-connector-java-gpl-8.0.23.msi
mysql-connector-net-8.0.23.msi
mysql-connector-odbc-8.0.23-win32.msi
mysql-connector-odbc-8.0.23-winx64.msi
mysql-connector-python-8.0.23-windows-x86-32bit.msi
mysql-connector-python-8.0.23-windows-x86-64bit.msi
mysql-documents-8.0.23.msi
mysql-examples-8.0.23.msi
mysql-router-8.0.23-winx64.msi
mysql-shell-8.0.23-windows-x86-64bit.msi
mysql-workbench-community-8.0.23-winx64.msi
If nothhing else works, click on Looking for Previous GA versions? and downloaded the one with 500 ~ MB and that did the job for me.
I had the same issues and tried the solutions above which none worked for me.
I did the following and it worked:
In Add/Remove programs from the control panel uninstall all MySQL entries.
Delete all MySQL folders from C:\Program Files\MySQL
Make a restart to your computer
Reinstall using the large MSI installer (more than 400MB)
I tried a lot of steps. Uninstalling and installing it again for current version 8.0.23.
Following steps fixed the below error for me:
No Packages error MySQL did not find packages in the current bundle
suitable for Installation No Compatible servers were found.
Step 1: At first, uninstall and remove MySQL. That includes, uninstalling completely and removing all the remaining MySQL folders from the system.
Step2: Restart the system. Go to the official MySQL website Downloads section. On reaching, install the 2nd MySQL version (the larger one) as shown in the tutorial.
mysql-installer-community-8.0.23.0.msi
After downloading, under Setup Type, you need to choose Developer Default and keep all other steps similar.
Same problem here.
I try on Windows 10 Home edition.
I also try with version 8.0.22: same error.
EDIT 1 18/01/21 : also with large MSI installer (more than 400MB)
EDIT 2 19/01/21 : The problem has fixed. This was probably a problem on the mysql download servers.
The solution in my case was uninstalling MySql Workbench and the installer and then running the installer msi from scratch!
Delete the (mysql-installer-web-community-8.0.23.0.msi) one and download the (mysql-installer-community-8.0.23.0.msi) one. If still not working, right click uninstall, and then right click install again. Worked for me.
I used the bigger download package, mysql-installer-community-8.0.30.0 with 450M. Then I see below image along the way, clicking "Add", then picked the workbench, then green button appeared to move to the right pane, then "execute". Workbench is then installed
I have a LAMP server on an EC2 instance. I downloaded phpMyAdmin using Amazon's guide here: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/install-LAMP.html.
On the phpMyAdmin page it says that:
"A newer version of phpMyAdmin is available and you should consider upgrading. The newest version is 4.6.5.2, released on 2016-12-05."
and I need to update it and also MySQL to use new features they put on the updates.
I'm accessing the EC2 instance from the terminal in my Mac laptop. I've tried a lot of things but I couldn't manage it. I've tried
sudo yum install -y phpMyAdmin
sudo yum install
I tried to manually download the latest version from phpmyadmin.net and change the files in the folder but I couldn't access the phpmyadmin folder in the first place.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
You're using the version of phpMyAdmin maintained by your distribution (presumably Fedora, CentOS, or Red Hat); this means that basically you're not responsible for (or able to) upgrade the software that's under control of the package manager (aside from running the updates occasionally). If you wish to use a different version, you're certainly able to remove the package manager version then install it manually. I don't use EPEL, but I believe the highest version currently distributed is 4.4.15.9 (reference, which I think is because of the older versions of PHP and/or MySQL which are currently shipped. So you might not be able to upgrade due to your MySQL or PHP versions, but YMMV.
Basically, if you're using the package managed version, the whole point is so you don't have to worry about manual updates.
You can disable the notification by adding the directive $cfg['VersionCheck'] = false; to your config.inc.php (which may be in /etc/ or /etc/phpmyadmin, but I'm just guessing about how your distribution may handle it.).
I'm working on a small .Net project, I used in my project EntityFramework with MySQL server, i tried the official Full MySQL installer, but i need only the server from that package to reduce the size of my application installer, like that used in PHPMyAdmin Installer, please show me how/where find that.
No minimal installation is available from MySQL's site. They used to have an essentials version, but it's unavailable for versions >5.1.
One solution to your case is to create your own installation - it's not very complicated. The process (in general) is to include bin, data, lib, and share folders from a clean installation, run mysqld --install, and copy your my.ini file (you may need to tweak with its data folder). This can give sometimes you an installation size of about 5 MB.
Another solution will be to use MariaDB as a MySQL alternative - their MSI is about 80 MB.
there are smaller versions, about 32.1MB it only allows you just to install the base server and configure the instance, you can use things like NAVICAT to manage it, have been using it for a lot of my .NET projects and it has been working very well
you can get it from https://filehippo.com/download_mysql/
After update Mysql 5.5 to 5.6 on debian I want start using memchached. In /usr/lib/mysql/plugin/ i do not see libmemcached.so plugin. How i can install this plugin and use?
It does not come as a part of it. You have to build it.
I suggest you to install/update mysql server using the official repository. This way you will have some tools and plugins (such libmemcached.so) installed. I've done it already doing these simple steps:
Download and install the repo: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/repo/apt/
Switch from debian to official repository and install mysql server 5.6: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql-apt-repo-quick-guide/en/#repo-qg-apt-replacing
You should now have available the libmemcache.so file within the plugins folder and should be able to proceed with the installation of the plugin.
I have downloaded the MySQL community server and extracted the files from the .tar file. But how do I install it? I simply cannot find a easy way to to this, or any method for that matter. Or is it already installed after tar xvf MySQL.tar? And also, when installing the .pkg version, shouldn't it create the files anywhere? Finally, the community server is the one used with django right?
Thanks in advance!
I would suggest using the .dmg version. It's an easier way of installing mysql, it can be a pain http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/
If you are developing and testing, do you really need to use MySQL? You can use sqlite which is bundled with Python.
As Vezu suggested, the best way to get started with the server is to download the binary installer - the mysql-5.5.24-osx10.6-x86.dmg file.
If you plan to use it with Python, you will also need to install MySQLdb for OSX. For that, see this answer for a link to steps you need to follow.
