Will Google Documents List API be deprecated? - google-drive-api

Are there any plans to deprecate Google Documents List API in nearest future?
I am using it in my utility to backup files to Google Drive. Does it make sense for me to switch to Google Drive SDK instead, for the long term support?

Definitely move to the Drive SDK. It replaces almost all the functionality of the Documents List API, and adds some, while being much nicer to use.

Files on Google Drive giving API error. Need “Drive Realtime API data” associated with the old file

I am regular user of Mindmup on google drive , a top rated mind mapping tool on Google drive marketplace.
I have an 2016 Mindmup which I am not able to open. Mindmup said they can help if google can provide “Drive Realtime API data” associated with the old file.
Google has a note that claims that read only access should continue, which is not true. And the link to how to "export realtime API data" is broken.
Answer:
Unfortunately, as the Google Realtime API has been deprecated, this isn't something the Stack Overflow community can help with.
What You Can Do:
From here, your best bet is to contact Google directly and see if they can provide you with the respective API data that you need. There is still a cached version of the API reference on Google Search which you can access, which may have links to the correct pages you are looking for.
Google Support can be contacted here, though I feel for this it may be more helpful for you to contact G Suite Support directly. You'll need to follow the corresponding link to you account on this page and contact them this way.

Extract raw data from google maps

What data can be extracted from google maps? It seemed to me that I can just poll information about places and geography through their api. I'm looking to pull down a map of a city from google maps and then make my own map from it in order to throw that data into a game engine. A brute force method would be extracting the bitmap images and then processing that information, but is there some standard of geographical information I should explore? And if so, can I get that information from google maps?
If you want your own copy of a map you might be best off looking at Open Street Map, the Google TOS will likely dissallow the use that you are looking for, while OSM is open source and you can download the entire data set at will should that be your desire.
For mapping applications I would look into QGIS, it's again free and a powerful tool.
You can extract datasets and metadata from Google Maps Engine for use on other platforms. You can use the Google Maps Engine API to programmatically access and download data and metadata/configurations from your Google Maps Engine account. This approach is best when you need to download a larger number of data sources from your Maps Engine account or if you’ve updated vector tables using the Maps Engine API.
To download data with the Maps Engine API, your application must handle OAuth 2.0 for authentication as well as the calls to retrieve data via the GME API.
So far the easiest solution in the data extraction industry is to use a Google Maps Web Scraping Template.
Google Maps web scraping template
is an advanced feature of the industry-leading free data extractor Octoparse. They built dozens of templates covering all popular websites, which are ready to use preformatted crawlers. You can use it to extract the business name, reviews, ratings, address, websites, phone number, and open hours, etc.
If you think the template doesn’t meet your needs, you can build your own crawler to extract other information.
Other advanced solutions to extract google maps data include using open-source projects on Github, using python framework/library, use a web scraper chrome extension, etc.

Google Maps Heatmap in Websharper?

I'm evaluating Websharper, and the project I'm doing is all about heat maps in Google Maps.
Is it possible to use the Google Maps extension for Websharper to display heatmaps?
I'm not using Fusion tables.
There is hardly any documentation available, but through browsing IntelliFactory.WebSharper.Google.Maps in intellisense it doesn't look possible.
Please try the latest NuGet package. I have not yet been able to finish the upgrade yet, but this binary will give you just enough to get started with Heatmaps API. For example, see this. The Google Maps extension is now open-source with matching Bitbucket and GitHub repositories, contributions are very welcome.

Google Drive listing, searching and deleting files

I'm building a web app that integrates with Google Drive, and am wondering if there was a way to list, search or delete files.
I see from https://developers.google.com/drive/v1/reference/files#resource that there are 4 operations. If there are no list and search capabilities then the onus is on the app to handle the management of file ids.
Is there another API I should be using? Are those features in the works?
Drive API v2 was launched yesterday, which now supports full file operations including listing, searching, etc.
Check out the reference docs.

How can I build a Desktop client for Google Drive?

I want to build desktop application for Windows OS and use Google Drive to save some data in the cloud. After reading Google Drive SDK I found that only Web-applications, were installed from Chrome Web Store are allowed to use API and have access to data on Google Drive.
So my question: do I have any way to build native client (C++, Windows) for Google Drive? I know about hacks with using Google Docs API - but they can stop working any time, and I want something stable. Why Google team do not allow me create desktop application for their service? I have support of many other cloud storages and they do not have such restrictions.
Thanks.
For now you will have to use the (older) Google Document List API which provides full read-write and list access to Google Drive. (Google Drive and the former Google Docs use the same data)
So until we extend the capabilities of the current Drive API to cover the Google Document List use case you should use that instead.
EDIT: We just launched the v2 of the Google Drive SDK so you should now use that instead.
I have been working on a similar problem. I have realized that there is no straight forward way for doing this. Google Drive SDK is not easy to work with and how someone can simplify the process of connecting desktop application to Google drive shortly. I know this is not much help, but I am looking for a soltuion as well.
Here is some links that I have come across, haven't solved my problem either, but if you come to a solution please let us know PLEASE:
