How would you write the following query in Zend framework?
SELECT * FROM table_name ORDER BY FIELD(field_name, 'Small','Medium','Large');
I just need the "Order by" part :)

What about this:

I think you should do:
$db = Zend_Db::factory( ...options... );
$select = $db->select()
->from(table_name)
->order(new Zend_Db_Expr("FIELD(field_name, 'Small','Medium','Large')")));

I am running problems in implementing LIKE in PDO
I have this query:
$query = "SELECT * FROM tbl WHERE address LIKE '%?%' OR address LIKE '%?%'";
$params = array($var1, $var2);
$stmt = $handle->prepare($query);
$stmt->execute($params);
I checked the $var1 and $var2 they contain both the words I want to search, my PDO is working fine since some of my queries SELECT INSERT they work, it's just that I am not familiar in LIKE here in PDO.
The result is none returned. Do my $query is syntactically correct?
You have to include the % signs in the $params, not in the query:
$query = "SELECT * FROM tbl WHERE address LIKE ? OR address LIKE ?";
$params = array("%$var1%", "%$var2%");
$stmt = $handle->prepare($query);
$stmt->execute($params);
If you'd look at the generated query in your previous code, you'd see something like SELECT * FROM tbl WHERE address LIKE '%"foo"%' OR address LIKE '%"bar"%', because the prepared statement is quoting your values inside of an already quoted string.
Simply use the following:
$query = "SELECT * FROM tbl WHERE address LIKE CONCAT('%', :var1, '%')
OR address LIKE CONCAT('%', :var2, '%')";
$ar_val = array(':var1'=>$var1, ':var2'=>$var2);
if($sqlprep->execute($ar_val)) { ... }
No, you don't need to quote prepare placeholders. Also, include the % marks inside of your variables.

You need to run 2 queries:
$db = $this->createQueryBuilder();
$db
->select('s')
->groupBy('s.email')
->orderBy('s.id', 'DESC')
->setMaxResults(30);
$qb->getQuery()->getResult();
and
$db = $this->createQueryBuilder();
$db
->select('count(s)')
->groupBy('s.email')
//->orderBy('s.id', 'DESC')
->setMaxResults(1);
$qb->getQuery()->getSingleScalarResult();

$query->select('COUNT(DISTINCT u)');
and it's seem to work fine so far.
$db = $this->createQueryBuilder('mytable');

Is there a way to execute a SQL String as a query in Zend Framework 2?
I have a string like that:
$sql = "SELECT * FROM testTable WHERE myColumn = 5"
now I want to execute this string directly.
Just pass the sql string to your db adapter like this:
$resultSet = $adapter->query($sql, \Zend\Db\Adapter\Adapter::QUERY_MODE_EXECUTE);
And if you want to pass parameters:
$sql = "SELECT * FROM testTable WHERE myColumn = ?";
$resultSet = $adapter->query($sql, array(5));
EDIT: Please note that the query method does not always returns a resultset. When its a resultset producing query(SELECT) it returns a \Zend\Db\ResultSet\ResultSet otherwise(INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, ...) it will return a \Zend\Db\Adapter\Driver\ResultInterface.
And when you leave the second Parameter empty you will get a \Zend\Db\Adapter\Driver\StatementInterface which you can execute.

If you are using tableGateway, you can run your raw SQL query using this statement,
$this->tableGateway->getAdapter()->driver->getConnection()->execute($sql);
where $sql pertains to your raw query. This can be useful for queries that do not have native ZF2 counterpart like TRUNCATE / INSERT SELECT statements.
If you have EntityManager $em on your hands, you can do something like this:
$select = $em->getConnection()->executeQuery("

I think this way to execute complex queries is best for Zend. But may be I'm not very smart in Zend still. Will glad to see if it helps to someone.
In zend it is written like
$table = $this->getTable();
$select = $table->select()->where('status = ?',1)
->where('columnOne= ?', 1)

similar to where, order, limit conditions how can I condition for LIKE?
My query is
SHOW TABLE STATUS LIKE 'tableName'
I tried in this way
$table = $this->getTable();
$query= $table->select("TABLE STATUS")
->like($table);
$id = mysql_query($query);
then I found that no method for LIKE is available in ZEND.
Then How can I write above query in Zend framerk?

This works for me, so hopefully it should give you what you want:
$stmt = $dbAdapter->query("SHOW TABLE STATUS LIKE '$tableName';");
$tableStatus = $stmt->fetchObject();
