Struts multiple select box proper setup - html

I have a multiple select box, which upon previous information entered is populated and then selections can be made. Right now it is being populated but not in the exact way as I intended.
In my JSP it is setup as:
<html:select property="fields" multiple="true" style='width:200px;'>
<html:options property="fields"/>
</html:select>
In my Form class "fields" is an ArrayList that in my Action class I add values too. What I want to be able to do is have those values be the choices for the box, and then be able to read whatever values the user selects from that box. It seems right now that the values are being put in there but are also being "selected". I figure what I have will just need some tweaking but I'm a little confused.
Thanks for the help

I was able to get this partway working:
<html:select property="fields" multiple="true" style='width:200px;'>
<html:options property="fieldsOptions"/>
</html:select>
Where fieldsOptions is an ArrayList I add values to in my Action class, and fields is a String[] in my form, my problem now is after I select options I want to be able to see these selections and I assumed they would just be put in "fields" but it doesnt seem that is the case, am I maybe just not accesting it right.

Paste a value in a textbox on the second tab of a navigation form access vba

I'm quite new to VBA and I've been looking around but cannot seem to find a solution to my problem.
I have made a navigation form (frmNavigation) with 3 buttons, each referring to a different form, let's call them frm1, frm2 and frm3. In the navigationform the control buttons to switch between tabs are all named differently (btn1, btn2, btn3), but the subform that shows either frm1, frm2, or frm3 has the same name: “NavigationSubform” (this shows a different form depending on which tab is clicked on, based on the 'navagation target name' referring to frm1, frm2 and frm3).
When I want to refer to a textbox (txtBox1) on form 1 (first tab) and insert a value i can do this by:
Forms!frmNavigation!NavigationSubform.Form!txtBox1.Value = "insert awesome text"
But how would I refer to txtbox10 on the second tab (frm2)? Just using the following does not work:
Forms!frmNavigation!NavigationSubform.Form!txtBox10.Value
You then get the error 2465 (can't find the field).
I’ve been trying many different things, but can’t seem to get it right. So how do I refer to a textbox on a different tab than the first one?
Help us much appreciated!
Only one subform can be loaded at once. So you've just got to break this process into two steps.
Store the value from txtBox1 somewhere outside of the NavigationSubforms (a textbox on the parent form with visible = no, a global variable or a table works).
In frm2's On Load event, set txtbox10 to be the value you stored.
Just note, that you will need to add conditions in the On Load event if you want to avoid that textbox being set to an empty string or a wrong value if you have a setup where your filter is changing.

HTML GET Form with Fixed Predefined Values

I want to set up an HTML Form which will submit (via GET) a combination of user-entered and predefined values.
To explain with a basic example, see this form:

<input type=“submit” value=“SUBMIT">

This form would give the url /test.html?foo=____, where the underline is whatever the user entered.
What I want to do is also have other values which are set by me and not the user, such as /test.html?foo=____&bar=presetvalue.
I have tried setting action=“/test.html?bar=presetvalue”, but that doesn’t work.
I could potentially do this with hidden fields, but that seems like a messy way to do it.
I have tried setting action="/test.html?bar=presetvalue", but that doesn’t work.
Submitting a GET form generates a new query string which replaces any existing query string.
I could potentially do this with hidden fields, but that seems like a messy way to do it.
This is exactly what hidden fields are designed for. They are the correct tool for the job.

Can't remove the value entered in the djFilteringSelect dojo control in xPages

I am using the djFilteringSelect control to show values in a dropdown as user type a value.
The lookup and typehead is working fine. The user type a letter and the dropdown allow the user to select a value which is then displayed in the dropdown field.
If the user now decide to remove the value first selected so that the combobox is empty and leave the field, then the first value in the list is now automatically filled in.
The consequence of this is that if the user have added a value there is no way to remove the value and leave the box emtpy.
I am using required=false for both the control and the dojo attribute but it does not seem to help. There are also a few other djFilteringSelect attributes I have tried like "Autocomplete" and "trim" but it does not work
Here is the code
<xe:djFilteringSelect id="test" type="select" store="jsondata" searchAttr="data" required="false" labelType="html" invalidMessage="Not valid">
<xe:this.dojoAttributes>
<xp:dojoAttribute name="required" value="false"></xp:dojoAttribute>
</xe:this.dojoAttributes>
</xe:djFilteringSelect>
Initally the field is not required, but if the user have entered a value it is required.
My question is if there a way to prevent the djFilteringSelect control to always populate the field if I have previously added a value
I found someone who solved this in another stack overflow topic, by creating an empty entry in my data store. but I could not get this to work
Dojo: Select of empty value for FilteringSelect while required=false
I do this quite a lot. Right now I don't have a working sample to show you (since I moved to bootstrap - and have to code the selects by manually adding select2 controls) but something like this should do it...
I add an "empty" value at the top of my select - and that seems to work no matter whether I am using a combobox, djCombobox or combobox with select2 from bootstrap. My markup typically looks like:
<xp:comboBox id="inputLocationSelector" value="#{User.catchListType}" disableClientSideValidation="true">
<xp:selectItem itemLabel="(none)" itemValue=""></xp:selectItem>
<xp:selectItems>
<xp:this.value>${Configuration.meta.listLocationTypeOptions}</xp:this.value>
</xp:selectItems>
</xp:comboBox>
Then you could specify "(none)", "All" or " " for the "not-selected" value depending on your needs.
Validation is a different thing so just specifying "required=false" does not give you the "empty" value.

Accessing ListBox selected item via UiApp.getActiveApplication().getElementByID()

Currently I am using UiService to create a form and I uses ListBox, from what I understand to pass a value via handler will be something like e.parameter.[Name of ListBox] to access the selected item.
Does anyone know is it possible to use like app.getElementById([Name of ListBox]) to access the selected item. The reason I am using this method is because my list of ListBox-es are dynamic.
I spent some time looking for this answer as well, but finally I tried one idea and it worked.
You can use e.parameter as an array so you can these two will give the same:
e.parameter.LIST_BOX_NAME
and
e.parameter['LIST_BOX_NAME']
So in the second sample any dynamic list box ID can be used. I use same handler for all added dropdown list and have this code to check what dropdown was changed and what value it has now:
if (e.parameter[e.parameter.source] == 'a'){
To change the content of the listBox you can use app.getElementById('ID of the listBox'), from there you can clear() and addItems again but you cannot read the listItems.
When I need to do this I usually store the list of items somewhere else, in a place that I can read anytime, for example the list of items can be stored as a string in the listBox tag itself so I have all items at hand to repopulate the listBox after I have clear it.

HTML: Best practice for POSTing empty/disabled form elements

I have a form which is used as an interface for CRUD on database records. Some of the elements on the form are interdependent, such that if one field has a value of X, then other fields should be made required and filled out by the user.
A simple example might be something like a personal info section:

Single
Married

...where the fields spouse-first-name and spouse-last-name would be required if relationship-status was set to married, and would be disabled (or hidden) otherwise.
My question is, in this example, when a person goes from married to single and wants to update their data as such, we also want to clear the spouse name values and post this back to the server so that the values are cleared in the database. We can use JavaScript to clear the fields for them when they change to single, but if we disable the form elements so that they can't edit them, then they don't get POSTed when the form is submitted.
I can think of the following solutions:
We could make them readonly instead of disabled, but that method only works for certain form controls (specifically, it does not work for other select elements), so this isn't an option.
We could duplicate each of these fields as a hidden input that would be POSTed with the form, but not editable by the user, but this seems like such a hack.
We could also enable the disabled fields right before submitting, and then re-disable them right afterwards. This is the method I'm using right now, but I feel like I'm missing something, and there has to be a better way.
Is there something I'm not thinking of, or a more sensible way of accomplishing both:
Not allowing the user to edit a field, and
Allowing the field's value to be POSTed with the form, even if blank.
My recommendation is, beside to make the validation in the client side, add in the javascript the function form.submit(), if someone disable the JS won't be able to submit the form, beside that agree with the others comments, add server validation.
I found that the most robust and least kludgy solution is to use the readonly property for all elements except . For elements, I just disable the child elements that aren't currently selected. This effectively prevents the user from changing the value. I then color the as though it were disabled with a gray background to complete the illusion. At this point, all form elements will post with the form, even with no values, and regardless of whether they're "disabled" or not.
