I've read this quote somewhere:
"Good programmers write good code.
Great programmers steal great code"
What is the difference between "good" and "great"? Great is better than good?
And to be honest... I don't understand this quote...
PS: maybe the title is not explicit and my English not correct, please correct it to be proper English, thanks a lot!

Great programmers know that their brand-new code will likely never be as good as something that has been around for a while, presumably battle-tested in a number of different situations.

Quick question: I have seen that having a journal for development, and this could be paper, app, online tool, etc. What I am looking for is either a mac app or online app that I can write in that has multiple diaries that helps me to stay organized and not lose my ideas, or ideas that I have just read.
Thank you for your ideas or what works best for you.
Rob
Try Evernote. I have also tried using TiddlyWiki. Evernote and Skitch combination works great.

I've looked at What is the single most influential book every programmer should read? to find some books to read. The books are needed for my train trip each day to/from work and having a book on 960 pages is just a bit over kill in my opinion. Therefore i'm looking for an alternative to code complete which is just a bit smaller and maybe something like 2-300 pages.
Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.

I need to draw some simple network topology charts, suggestions of some good tools appreciated.
Edit: love freeware :-)
Try Dia - it's open source and cross platform.
SmartDraw is the best there is. It costs, but is worth the dosh.
Easy to use, full of features, good looking and for free - yEd.
Graphviz is great if you want the layout to be automatic.
Omnigraffle if you want to do it by hand and have a Mac.
NetworkNotepad is a useful, if quirky, programme.
