Hosting web services on Mac OSX Snow Leopard - mysql

Does anyone what options exist for developing and hosting web services on a Mac OSX Snow Leopard server?
Is webobjects still supported, are there other solutions?
Does Python or PHP have a solution on Mac that also has libraries for working with MySQL?
Any help appreciated,
Thanks // :)

Pretty much everything interesting (save MS .NET) runs on the Mac. Python, PHP, Java (Tomcat, Glassfish, JBoss).
Depending on the level of support you're looking for, any of those will likely fit the bill.
With Netbeans and Glassfish, you can have a SOAP webservice up and running in 10 minutes.

Installation of home-assistant-supervised for macOS

I was wondering if anybody knows if it's possible to install a home assistant with docker to the Mac without virtual machines. I've found this topic and it worked for the basic version of home assistant:
https://www.phatpenguin.com/2018/12/hassio-via-docker-on-mac.html?showComment=1635791899259#c6940582515373249537
But I need a supervised version and I can't find if there is the same way, but with a different docker image.
After a month of trying, I could not get a supervised version installed with Docker on my Mac either. Proxmox wasn't an option.
I went with the officially supported VirtualBox install and couldn't be more pleased. It didn't slow down the 8GB of ram on my 2011 Mac Mini, and all of the supervised features work great.

MAMP PRO vs VHX7 vs AMPPS vs Native OSX config

I didn't find much on the net and that why i would like to ask your point of views regarding setting up a local web environment on an iMac
1- Which of the mentioned apps is recommended to install on a Mac, which is low in resources.
2- Does MAMP or AMPPS use the native OSX apache and PHP, or do they install their own versions?
Thanks in advance for your cooperation
Cheers
MAMP and VHX7 each installs its own server software, not the default macOS versions.

How do I connect ActionScript 3 code to a Windows Service?

I have an AS3 application, and a Windows Service running in the local network, how can I connect the AS3 App to the Windows Service running in the other PC?
If the question is pretty vague it's because I don't have a clue on how/what the possibilities are and I'd like to know what should I search/look for, any hints are appreciated.
If this isn't possible, what would be a good course of action?
I would assume you are talking about AIR desktop development, for Flash there is no such possibility. You should have a look at AIR native extention, which supports desktop environment. Basically, your app talks to the native extension, which then talks to OS.

Installing DotNetNuke 7 with MySQL and in .Net 3.0 environment?

I just registered a hosting service from www.amhosting.com and they said that the Server support MySQL and .Net 3.0 only while the site I am installing is DNN 7 which is running with MSSQL and .Net 4.0.
So what is the solution for this case?
Could I run DNN 7 in .net 3.0 environment?
or should I downgrade the DNN to lower version that is able to run in .net 3.0?
How to configure the DNN site to run with MySQL?
Thanks a lot.
Cheers,
Timmy
I think you should change your hosting solution.
From what I know DNN7 only works with .NET 4.0 / 4.5
MySql - god forbid, you're in a world of pain. I have heard about attempts to make the DNN Core compatible with MySql... but it's only the Core, and any such projects would be outdated in a matter of months, as DNN does release quite often.
Talking about third party modules, which sooner or later you'll be bound to download from codeplex or buy from Dnn store - forget about. no dnn developer out there provides scripts for mysql.
Good luck!
As Greg states, you won't have an easy time getting DNN working in 2.0 (there was no 3.0, but 3.5 exists) with MYSQL, and you will be limited based on the "provider" for MYSQL.
Go with another hosting company that does Windows Hosting with MSSQL options, there are plenty of them out there for low cost, you'll save a lot more money changing hosting, than you will trying to get mysql working with DNN, and you won't have any upgrade options available to you.

Group .net project: 1 Developer on PC with VS 2005 and 1 Developer on Mac with MonoDeveloper

I'm new to .net but a mac user. I need to team with a friend on a new project. He's currently on a pc using VS 2005. And I'd rather try Mono as oppose to running xp or vista in a VM and install VS there.
If I use Mono Developer. will we be able to share files in the same project? Is the current version of Mono Developer the equivalent of VS 2005 or 2008?
Please advise on the best way for me to do this.
Thanks in Advance
Kevykev
Current MonoDevelop can read and write both VS2005 and VS2008 project files, and do not automatically convert them. There is no problem with sharing solutions between VS and MD.
I am working on such project, where I'm using MD under Linux and other developer is using VS on Windows. There are no problems with it. I prefer this solution then running VS in virtual system, because of the native feel of the application and no barriers between virtual system and my native desktop.
Depending on the nature of your project that could work, but honestly, if you are working on a shared project, having both developers working on the same platform is most likely going to give you the best overall end solution.
