ms-access: file already in use ERROR - ms-access

i have an access backend MDB
it is supporting multiple user connections
every user has their own access front end
for this one particular user (her permissions arent any different from other users) she is getting FILE ALREADY IN USE error when she tries to open this database using her front end
if you have any suggestions please let me know asap, as this is urgent for me

But are this users permissions for the BE Access database file folder different than the others? Can that user create, update and delete a txt file using Notepad in the same folder as the BE?

In her front-end, go into Tools->Options->Advanced. Change the default Open mode from Exclusive to Shared.

Change path to database in Microsoft Access 2013

I need to make something in the database. It was saved as .accdb files. I copied this from my workplace and now I want to edit it on my home computer, but when I've open these files and tried to see already made commands I got an error message that I have not a valid path. This error occurs while I want to open command forms for adding and deleting, which need to use other databases.
How can I change the path so my Access will know, where these files are stored on my computer?
Go to band option (Database) Tools.
Select Linked Table Manager (label is localized).
Mark the checkbox down-left: Always as for new location.
Click Mark All, then OK.
Input the folder name where the data file exists.

JasperReports Server permissions doesn't work

I created new user - 'exampleuser' and new role - 'examplerole' in JasperReports Server version 5.6.
The new user - 'exampleuser' has 2 roles: 'examplerole' and 'ROLE_USER' that is attached to the user by default in the JR Server.
For every folder in jasper I gave the 'examplerole' and 'ROLE_USER' the permissions - Execute only.
According to my understanding, if I will login with the 'exampleuser' user I won't be able to see any folder, of course not be able to delete any file inside that folder.
What actually happens is that I'm able to see all the files inside any folder, add and delete files as I wish and change permissions to the files.
Could not find any information about it - according to the JasperReports Server manual I'm not doing anything wrong or do I?
The 'exampleuser' doesn't have any permissions to the folder e.g. 'NO ACCESS' permission.
And there were no errors in the logs.
Is someone ran into this situation before? Is it fixable or it is some bug of JasperReports Server?
-----------------------------EDIT---------------------------------------
I've found out that this situation happens only in Google chrome browser. If I use IE for example, everything is as it should be.
Anyone? Any idea?
Edit user(exampleuser) and assign only new role(examplerole) which you created for new user remove ROLE_USER and save.
Now right click on the folder on which you want to give permission to new user(exampleuser) and select "Permission" , there you can see all the roles and there access permission.
Change permission No Access to Read only for examplerole and remove the access form other roles i.e. select No Access option.
Now after that you need to check remaining other directories whether they have ROLE_USER access or not , if they have remove permission from ROLE USER i.e set it to No Access.

Hide MS ACCESS DB FILE

I am currently using an access DB with front and back end. When I want to allow new users to access the DB I add the user to the folder in which the DB is housed. Essentially if they determined the path of the DB they could copy it ect.
Is there anyway to still allow access to the DB through the Access front end yet still prevent the user from actually getting to the directory of the file.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
No there isn't access is a file based dbms. For the app the user is running as to see the file, the user has to be able to.
This is the sort of need that says access cannot be used. Well not directly , you could use access as a backend, ie you park it behind some sort of service and your front end hits that.
yo keep an integral copy for you in case of changes then with the pblic copy, for example
with Access 2007 you click files -> Options -> active data base -> Navigation Options.
then you hide all the elements...

Unable to add data to front-end of access database

I have a 2010 Access Database that I split for so multiple users can use the database at the same time. However, now I can't add data to the front-end through tables, queries, anything. When I go to the back-end it says it's read only and I can't add data or modify design there either, and yes I have proper permissions to view everything. I even tried setting the permissions to Everyone with Full access but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?
When you open the back end db file, Access must be able to create a lock file, or update the lock file if one already exists. When neither happens, the db file will be opened read-only.
That requirement applies when you open the back end db file directly in an Access session. It also applies when you open the back end indirectly from your front end database.
The lock file uses the same base name as your db file, but a different file name extension: .ldb for an MDB db; or .laccdb for an ACCDB db.
Make sure your users have permission to create and delete files in the folder where the back end db file is located. Alternatively, you could just give them modify permission for the lock file once it has been created.
If the problem is not a lock file issue, open one of your linked tables in datasheet view from the front end and see whether you can make changes (add and delete rows, and update values in existing rows). If the linked tables are treated as read-only, delete the links and recreate them. Make sure to inform Access which field or combination of fields to use as a primary key. In the absence of that information, Access will link the tables read-only.
If the linked tables are not read-only, inspect your forms' record sources and other properties. Some queries can still be read-only even though their source tables are editable. And the Data tab of a form's property sheet includes properties such as Allow Additions, Allow Deletions, and Add Edits ... which influence the types of changes which can be made through that form.
Finally, make sure all front end users have default open mode set as shared. If any user's open mode is set as exclusive, all later users can only open read-only.

MS Access - Open database form from URL

I'm trying to open a form from an url. This ms access database will be hosted on a shared folder in an network, and the costumer has asked me if it's possible to open an database form (i'll have to pass an ID).
If this were in web environment i would do this without any problem, but honestly in ms access i have no idea how to do this.
Can someone help me?
Have a look at Register protocol and Registering an Application to a URL Protocol. They have a example registry file on how to register a protocol:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\foo]
#="URL:foo Protocol"
"URL Protocol"=""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\foo\shell]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\foo\shell\open]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\foo\shell\open\command]
#="\"C:\\Program Files\\Application\\program.exe\" \"%1\""
You can change the last line to something like:
#="\"C:\\Program Files\\Office\\access.exe\" \"C:\\path\\to\\your\\db.mdb\" /cmd \"%1\""
If you URL is foo:241245, the following command is called:
"C:\Program Files\Office\access.exe" "C:\path\to\your\db.mdb" /cmd "241245"
In Access, the commandline arguments are returned by the Command function:
In the direct window:
?Command
241245
The database can be opened from a URL like any other file:
file://server/share/path/database.mdb
This won't work if the database has user-level security on it though. I've only ever done that by using a windows shortcut.
If you're not using user-level security and the URL works, you can set the desired form to open automatically on load by going to the Access Options screen and the Current Database tab, then selecting the desired form from the Display Form drop-down list.
Oops - I just noticed that you said you'd need to pass an ID. I don't know if that's possible using a URL.
Open your Access database from the network location (i.e., with a UNC path, not from a drive letter, or locally).
Navigate so you can see the form listed in your database.
Drag the form to your desktop. A shortcut directly to the form will be created there.
I don't think this is a good idea, though. It's a substitute for a user interface in your Access application. Additionally, your description of the problem sounds like you're intending to have multiple people opening the same database file. This is a really bad practice -- best practice is for the database to be split (back end with data tables only on the server, and individual copy of the front end with forms/reports/etc. on each user's workstation), and more than one user should never be opening the same front end at the same time.
