I have a Nightwatch + BrowserStack configuration on my project and I'm trying to add custom commands to my project to compare 2 screenshots using resemble.js .
I configure my nightwatch.json file with this :

"custom_assertions_path": "./node_modules/nightwatch/assertions"
I put the commands file in the folder and I tried to run my test in every directory possible to see if it was a path problem. I've also tried with different commands, some of them I get online and even the default example one. Whatever I run it returns nameOfTheCommand is not a function. So I guess it does not even find the path to the customs commands in the nightwatch.json file.
Is there anything I'm missing here? I'm quite new so the answer could be very simple but I tried every .json file of my project in case there was a special configuration linked to BrowserStack.

Path to the custom commands should be analogous to the path to custom commands. You should point a folder where you added them.

I've found that if I put them in the suite configuration file, it picks them up:

Python pygame lastest versions: Visual Studio Code shows missing module [duplicate]

I am using the following setup
macOS v10.14 (Mojave)
Python 3.7.1
Visual Studio Code 1.30
Pylint 2.2.2
Django 2.1.4
I want to use linting to make my life a bit easier in Visual Studio Code. However, for every import I have states "unresolved import". Even on default Django imports (i.e. from django.db import models).
I presume it is because it is not seeing the virtual environment Python files.
Everything works just fine, but it's starting to get annoying.
The interpreter choices I have are all system versions of Python. It does not seem to see my virtual environment Python at all (it is not in the same directory as my workspace, so that part makes sense).
If I set up the python.PythonPath in the settings.json file, it just ignores it and does not list my virtual environment path as an option. I also tried setting it up in my global Python settings, but it also does not show up.
Is there a quick fix to get it working?
The accepted answer won't fix the error when importing own modules.
Use the following setting in your workspace settings .vscode/settings.json:

There are two very useful answers, by MagnuesBrzenk and SpenHouet.
The best solution for now is to create a .env file in your project root folder. Then add a PYTHONPATH to it like this:
PYTHONPATH=YOUR/MODULES/PATH
And in your settings.json add:
"python.envFile": ".env"
When I do > reload window that fixes it.

None of the solutions worked except this one. Replacing "Pylance" or "Microsoft" in the settings.json solved mine.

You need to select the interpreter associated with the virtual environment.
Click here (at the bottom status bar):
And just select the virtual environment you are working with. Done.
Sometimes, even with the interpreter selected, it won't work. Just repeat the process again and it should solve it.
If you have this code in your settings.json file, delete it:

If you are more visual like myself, you can use the Visual Studio Code configurations in menu File → Preferences → Settings (Ctrl + ,). Go to Extensions → Python.
In the section Analysis: Disabled, add the suppression of the following message: unresolved-import:

I wonder how many solutions this problem have (or have not), I tried most of the above, nothing worked, the only solution that worked is to set the python language server to Jedi, instead of Microsoft in the settings.json file:

The first line really just hides the linting error. Certainly not a permanent solution, but de-clutters the screen.

Maybe someone who understands Python more than me can explain that one more.
Okay, so 2 years down the line, I have ran into this annoying problem. All I can seen here are some really complicated workarounds. Here are easy to follow steps for anyone else who might just run into this later on:
at the bottom of VS Code where you see the Python version listed, just click there
Select Interpreter windows is going to appear
click on the first option that says "Select Interpreter Path" and navigate to the folder path which has your Virtual Environment
That's all you need to do and avoid tampering with those settings in VS Code which might get very complicated if not handled with caution.
My solution
This solution is only for the current project.
In the project root, create folder .vscode
Then create the file .vscode/settings.json
In the file setting.json, add the line (this is for Python 3)

This is the example for Python 2

If you don't know where your Python installation is located, just run the command which python or which python3 on the terminal. It will print the Python location.
This example works for dockerized Python - Django.
I was facing the same problem while importing the project-related(non standard) modules.
Detailed explanation of the problem
Directory structure:
Project_dir:

Here "import a" and "import y" fails with following error:

What worked for me:
Appending the top directory which contains the modules to be imported.
In above example add the follwoing "Code to append" in ".vscode/settings.json"

Given the following example project structure:

What I did to resolve this issue:
Go into the workspace folder (here workspaceRootFolder) and create a .env file
In this empty .env file, add the line PYTHONPATH=codeFolder (replace codeFolder with your folder name)
Add "python.envFile": "${workspaceFolder}/.env" to the settings.json
Restart Visual Studio Code
To me the problem was related with the project that I was working on. It took me a while to figure it out, so I hope this helps:
Original folder structure:
root/
__init__.py # Empty
folder/
__init__.py # Empty
sub_folder_b/
my_code.py
sub_folder_c/
another_code.py
In another_code.py:
from folder.sub_folder_b import my_code.py
This didn't trigger the intellisense in Visual Studio Code, but it did execute OK.
On the other hand, adding "root" on the import path, did make the intellisense work, but raised ModuleNotFoundError when executing:
from root.folder.sub_folder_b import my_code.py
The solution was to remove the _init_.py file inside the "folder" directory, leaving only the _init_.py located at /root.
This works for me:
Open the command palette (Ctrl + Shift + P) and choose "Python: Select Interpreter".
Doing this, you set the Python interpreter in Visual Studio Code.
None of the answers here solved this error for me. Code would run, but I could not jump directly to function definitions. It was only for certain local packages. For one thing, python.jediEnabled is no longer a valid option. I did two things, but I am not sure the first was necessary:
Download Pylance extension, change python.languageServer to "Pylance"
Add "python.analysis.extraPaths": [ "path_to/src_file" ]
Apparently the root and src will be checked for local packages, but others must be added here.
I am using the following setup: (in Apr 2021)

And I faced this error during starting of the Django.
So, I follow these steps and this error is resolved.
Steps are given in these screenshots:
Open settings (workspace)
Follow this screenshot to open Python Path
Now, click Edit in settings.json
Make path like given in this screenshot /opt/anaconda3/bin/python
5. Now, save this settings.json file.
6. Restart the vscode
Also, intellisense might not work for some time hold on wait for some time and then restart again then vscode reads file for new path.
That happens because Visual Studio Code considers your current folder as the main folder, instead of considering the actual main folder.
The quick way to fix is it provide the interpreter path to the main folder.
Press Command + Shift + P (or Ctrl + Shift + P on most other systems).
Type Python interpreter
Select the path where you installed Python in from the options available.
Changing
Python:Language Server
to 'Jedi' worked for me.
It was 'Windows' initially.
For me, it worked, if I setup the paths for python, pylint and autopep8 to the local environment paths.
For your workspace add/change this:

I have a different solution: my Visual Studio Code instance had picked up the virtualenv stored in .venv, but it was using the wrong Python binary. It was using .venv/bin/python3.7; using the switcher in the blue status bar.
I changed it to use .venv/bin/python and all of my imports were resolved correctly.
I don't know what Visual Studio Code is doing behind the scenes when I do this, nor do I understand why this was causing my problem, but for me this was a slightly simpler solution than editing my workspace settings.
In case of a Pylint error, install the following
pipenv install pylint-django
Then create a file, .pylintrc, in the root folder and write the following
load-plugins=pylint-django
I have faced this problem in three ways. Although for each of them a solution is available in the answers to this question, I just thought to put it all together.
First I got an "Unresolved Import" while importing some modules and I noticed that my installations were happening in global pip instead of the virtual environment.
This issue was because of the Python interpreter. You need to select the interpreter in Visual Studio Code using Shift + Ctrl + P and then type Select Python Interpreter. Select your venv interpreter here.
The second issue was: The above change did not resolve my issue completely. This time it was because of file settings.json. If you don't have the settings.json file in your project directory, create one and add the following line in that:

"python.pythonPath": "apis/bin/python"
}
This will basically tell Visual Studio Code to use the Python interpreter that is in your venv.
The third issue was while importing a custom Python module or file in another program. For this you need to understand the folder structure. As Python in venv is inside bin, you'll need to specify the folder of your module (most of the time the application folder). In my case it was app,
from app.models import setup_db
Verbally, import setup_db from models.py resides in the app folder.
If you are using pipenv then you need to specify the path to your virtual environment.in settings.json file.
For example :

How to avoid warning
Please note that this is just skipping the warning not resolving it.
First of all open visual studio code settings in json and add following arguments after "[python]":{}

"python.linting.flake8Args": ["--ignore=E24,W504", "--verbose"]

This has helped me to avoid pylint warnings in VSCode.
I have resolved import error by Ctrl + Shift + P.
Type "Preferences settings" and select the option Preferences Open Settings (JSON)
And add the line "python.pythonPath": "/usr/bin/"
So the JSON content should look like:

"python.pythonPath": "/usr/bin/"
}
Keep other configuration lines if they are present.
This should import all modules that you have installed using PIP for autocomplete.

Keyboard short for uploading two files in PhpStorm

The problem
In PhpStorm I have a style.css- and a app.js-file that I have to upload to a server over and over again. I'm trying to automate it.
They're compiled by Webpack, so they are generated/compiled. Which means that I can't simply use the 'Tools' >> 'Deployment' >> 'Upload to...' (since that file isn't and won't every be open).
What I currently do
At the moment, every time I want to see the changed I've done, then I do this (for each file):
Navigate to the files in the file-tree (using the mouse)
Select it
The I've set up a shortcut for Main menu >> Tools >> Deployment >> Upload to..., where-after I select the server I want to upload to.
I do this approximately 100+ times per day.
The ideal solution
The ideal solution would be, that if I pressed a shortcut like CMD + Option + Shift + G
That it then uploaded a selection of files (a scope?) to a predefined remote server.
Solution attempts
Open and upload.
Changing to those files (using CMD + p) and then uploading them (once they're open). But the files are generated, which means that it takes PhpStorm a couple of seconds to render the content (which is necessary before I can do anything with the file) - so that's not faster.
Macro.
Recording a macro, uploading the two files, looking like this:
If I go to the menu and trigger the Macro, then it works. So far so good.
But if I assign a shortcut key and trigger that shortcut while in a file, then it shows me this:
And if I press '1' (for it to upload to number 1 on the list), then it uploads the file that I'm currently in(!?), and not the two files from my macro.
I've tried several different shortcuts (to rule out some kind of keyboard-shortcut-clash):
CMD + Option + CTRL + 0
CMD + Shift 0
CMD + ;
... Same result.
And the PhpStorm Macro's doesn't seem to give me that many options anyways.
Keyboard Maestro.
I've tried doing it using Keyboard Maestro.
But I can't get it setup right. Because if it can't find the folders (if they're off-screen or if I'm in a different project and forgot to adjust they shortcuts), then it blasts through the rest of the recorded actions, resulting in chaos. Ideally it should stop, if it can't find the file on the screen.
Update1 - External program
Even if it's not possible to do in PhpStorm, - are there then another program that I could achieve this with?
Update2 - Automatic Deployment in PhpStorm
I've previously used this, - but I've had happen a few times that I started sync'ing waaaay to many files, overwriting critical core files. It seems smart, but can possibly tear down walls if I've forgotten to define an ignore properly.
I wish there was an 'Automatic Deployment for theses files'-function.
Update3 - File Watchers
I looked into file-watchers ( recommendation from #LazyOne ). Based on this forum thread, then file watchers cannot be used to upload files.
It is possible to accomplish it using external program scp (Secure Copy Protocol):
Steps:
1. Create a Scope (for compiled files app.js and style.css)
2. Create a Custom File Watcher with scp over that Scope
Start with Scope:
Create a Local Scope with name scp files for your compiled files directory (I will assume that your webpack compiles into dist directory):
Then, to add dist directory into Scope, select that folder and click on Include Recursively. Apply and Move to File Watchers
Create a custom template for File Watcher:
Choose a Name
Choose File type as Any
Choose Scope as scp files(created earlier)
Choose Program as scp
Choose Arguments as $FileName$ REMOTE_USER#REMOTE_HOST:/REMOTE_DIR_PATH/$FileName$
Choose Working directory as $FileDir$
That's it, basically what we have done is every time when a file in that scope changes, that file is copied with scp to the remote server to the corresponding path.
Voila. Apply Everything and recompile your project and you will see that everything is uploaded to the server.
(I assumed that you have already set up your ssh client; Generated public/private keys; Added a public key in your remote server; And, know ssh credentials to connect to your remote server)
I figured this out myself. I posted the answer here.
The two questions are kind of similar but not identical.
This way I found is also not the best, since it stores the server password in clean text. So I'll leave the question open, in case someone can come up with a better way to achieve this.

Program bash is not found in path?

I have tried many times to set up Cocos2dx in Eclipse, but haven't been able to get it to work. I am getting this error:
bash is not found in path
I have tried all kinds of stuff available on Stackoverflow but have not found any solution that fixes this error in my system. I am using Window 7 32 bit.
Install Cygwin(if not installed).Make sure you install make module.
Set the path of bin folder in environment variables like c:/cygwin/bin.Name it Path . This should work.

Post build event command whose directory is not C:\

I want to run a command in the post build event of a project, if i do C:\temp\Client.exe it works fine but If my project is in the thumb drive and change the command to G:\temp\Client.exe it looks like it doesnt like the path and exit with code 9009. what command do i need if the exe is in different path than C drive. Thankx
From the question and subsequent comment it looks that drive letter keeps changing. It is possible in post-build section check if the file exist before call it.
For debugging you can use something like
f:
Dir
And view output window after the build.

Get the application's path

I've recently searched how I could get the application's directory in Java. I've finally found the answer but I've needed surprisingly long because searching for such a generic term isn't easy. I think it would be a good idea to compile a list of how to achieve this in multiple languages.
Feel free to up/downvote if you (don't) like the idea and please contribute if you like it.
Clarification:
There's a fine distinction between the directory that contains the executable file and the current working directory (given by pwd under Unix). I was originally interested in the former but feel free to post methods for determining the latter as well (clarifying which one you mean).
In Java the calls
System.getProperty("user.dir")
and
new java.io.File(".").getAbsolutePath();
return the current working directory.
The call to
getClass().getProtectionDomain().getCodeSource().getLocation().getPath();
returns the path to the JAR file containing the current class, or the CLASSPATH element (path) that yielded the current class if you're running directly from the filesystem.
Example:
Your application is located at
C:\MyJar.jar
Open the shell (cmd.exe) and cd to C:\test\subdirectory.
Start the application using the command java -jar C:\MyJar.jar.
The first two calls return 'C:\test\subdirectory'; the third call returns 'C:\MyJar.jar'.
When running from a filesystem rather than a JAR file, the result will be the path to the root of the generated class files, for instance
c:\eclipse\workspaces\YourProject\bin\
The path does not include the package directories for the generated class files.
A complete example to get the application directory without .jar file name, or the corresponding path to the class files if running directly from the filesystem (e.g. when debugging):

In .NET (C#, VB, …), you can query the current Assembly instance for its Location. However, this has the executable's file name appended. The following code sanitizes the path (using System.IO and using System.Reflection):

Alternatively, you can use the information provided by AppDomain to search for referenced assemblies:

VB allows another shortcut via the My namespace:
My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath
In Windows, use the WinAPI function GetModuleFileName(). Pass in NULL for the module handle to get the path for the current module.
Python
path = os.path.dirname(__file__)
That gets the path of the current module.
Objective-C Cocoa (Mac OS X, I don't know for iPhone specificities):

In Java, there are two ways to find the application's path. One is to employ System.getProperty:
System.getProperty("user.dir");
Another possibility is the use of java.io.File:
new java.io.File("").getAbsolutePath();
Yet another possibilty uses reflection:

In VB6, you can get the application path using the App.Path property.
Note that this will not have a trailing \ EXCEPT when the application is in the root of the drive.

In unix one can find the path to the executable that was started using the environment variables. It is not necessarily an absolute path, so you would need to combine the current working directory (in the shell: pwd) and/or PATH variable with the value of the 0'th element of the environment.
The value is limited in unix though, as the executable can for example be called through a symbolic link, and only the initial link is used for the environment variable. In general applications on unix are not very robust if they use this for any interesting thing (such as loading resources). On unix, it is common to use hard-coded locations for things, for example a configuration file in /etc where the resource locations are specified.
In bash, the 'pwd' command returns the current working directory.
In PHP :

In CFML there are two functions for accessing the path of a script:
getBaseTemplatePath()
getCurrentTemplatePath()
Calling getBaseTemplatePath returns the path of the 'base' script - i.e. the one that was requested by the web server.
Calling getCurrentTemplatePath returns the path of the current script - i.e. the one that is currently executing.
Both paths are absolute and contain the full directory+filename of the script.
To determine just the directory, use the function getDirectoryFromPath( ... ) on the results.
So, to determine the directory location of an application, you could do:

To determine the path where the app server running your CFML engine is at, you can access shell commands with cfexecute, so (bearing in mind above discussions on pwd/etc) you can do:

I released https://github.com/gpakosz/whereami which solves the problem in C and gives you:
the path to the current executable
the path to the current module (differs from path to executable when calling from a shared library).
It uses GetModuleFileNameW on Windows, parses /proc/self/maps on Linux and Android and uses _NSGetExecutablePath or dladdr on Mac and iOS.
Note to answer "20 above regarding Mac OSX only: If a JAR executable is transformed to an "app" via the OSX JAR BUNDLER, then the getClass().getProtectionDomain().getCodeSource().getLocation(); will NOT return the current directory of the app, but will add the internal directory structure of the app to the response. This internal structure of an app is /theCurrentFolderWhereTheAppReside/Contents/Resources/Java/yourfile
Perhaps this is a little bug in Java. Anyway, one must use method one or two to get the correct answer, and both will deliver the correct answer even if the app is started e.g. via a shortcut located in a different folder or on the desktop.
